Consuming West Ham content online...

Post stubbo-admin »

This question feeds into some work we're doing on driving more users to the site, growing the audience etc.

What other types of content/information do you seek out in relation to West Ham, and from where?

Could be:
  • YouTube Channels
  • Podcasts
  • Blogs/Opinion/Fanzine type sites
  • Social Media Sources
  • Traditonal Media sources (e.g. Guardian, Athletic, Evening Standard)
  • Others?
Would be interested to know which you look to (both formats and specifics), which you find useful, which you find annoying (personally I think C&H these days is a spam-fest akin to Hammers News).

What I'm thinking of is a West Ham Online page that pulls all this stuff together in one place so you don't have to hop around all the different channels on the web to look for what's new, and then have it link back to discussion on the forum....so nothing about the forum changes, but it gives:

1. A tool to bring all of the worthwhile West Ham content together in a curated way
2. A means to use that content to drive more activity in the Forums.

So am interested in media types, and specific channels you follow or use.

Thanks for any input, thoughts, or suggestions.

I don't consume the YouTube West Ham content for the same reasons many on here. There's too little signal in the filler for me. I lack the patience. The main football content I consume is main stream broadsheet press but I find the best stuff is in the Athletic. Hammers News needs to be blocked. Really winds me up that one.

Hammers chat and the West ham network occasionally but only in small doses as the presenters can start to get annoying particularly when.they repeat themselves and waffle.

I like the interviews with former players when they pick their best 11 and give an insight into some of the antics and dressing room culture back in the day.

I don't frequent any other West ham forums such as KUMB.

Vinny used to do match reports which he took abuse for by people who disagreed with his opinions. I don't think anyone here ever had much problem with view from the opposition, although it was hard to get opposition people to do it because of the abuse they knew they'd get (if they'd seen any previous ones).

Just WHO really.
I watch some of the YouTube stuff that gets added on here. Geo and Gonzo are pretty watchable, the rest is just waffle and noise.

Maybe you could tempt West Ham Lass out of retirement to try and draw more people in?

These are always good features. Shame we don't have anyone to pull that together for us anymore.

Most from WHO, if anything im interested in then do a search with no specific preference for source.

Don't watch the YouTube stuff very much anymore, too much waffle and click bait headlines, you then have to watch a lot of BS and padding to get to the point of the video, if they actually have one🤷‍♂️, if i do watch then Geo and Gonzo is about the best.

Regularly watch the post-match interviews with fans on WHTV though, get a good perspective of how fans at the game saw things, Marshy is maybe the best and gives a rational and balanced view win, lose or draw, used to like watching Dom but not seen him for quite a while, not so much his insight but the melt downs, knicker wetting and rants were funny🤣

Look at KUMB occasionally but that's about it when it comes to West Ham, visit a few football sites/forums but they tend to be dominated by the usual "big 4" (Arsenal, both Manchester clubs and Liverpool) so unless they are playing us you get little content or discussion about us.

Don't really use any other Whu sites used to go to c&h & kumb but with the pop ups I gave up. If we have played badly I might occasionally have a look at claret and booze screaming and carrying on to cheer myself up.
Actually used to enjoy the westhamway radio show a few years ago when it was on radio essex.

YouTube, WHO, WhatsApp. That’s it.

in think a WHO YouTube channel needs to happen.

I’ll start it if need be, but you need someone with charisma who doesn’t play characters.

Jack 1, Far Cough and Simon S would be my first guests. Leonard and Scum would be fun too.

I watch Gonzo and Geo on Youtube from time to time.  Not a fan of Nick though.  Also read The Guardian everyday and occasionally News Now, but most of that is click-bait.
