"Fauxstralian 12:11 Sat Dec 23 also anonymously paid for a lady's IVF treatment (about 9/10k), which was successful, and didn't let it be known it was him until years later"

And I suppose I don’t blame him for keeping it on the down low given how horrifically the tabloid press treated him when he was alive.

Likewise you hear nothing but good stuff about the bloke. He clearly kept a lot of it on the down low rather than looking for attention. He/his estate still pays for all the Christmas lights etc in Highgate every year.

Was watching that thing where Adrian Chiles talks to celebs about faith & Xmas & he had Martin Kemp and his wife on Said GM used to send all his friends 2 enormous hampers for Xmas & would turn up with amazing presents for his kids every Xmas that would blow what he had bought out of the water

Re: Shane McGowan has sung his last fairytale
Understood that George Michael donated all the royalties for Last Christmas to charity Understand A Ridgeley HAS made millions mainly where George added him as 'co writer' Even though it was a solo song believe he gets half the royalties for Careless Whisper Not a fan but GM seemed a genuine generous guy. When he died on Xmas day a few stories came out about how generous he was Can remember one where he was in a cafe and overheard a woman talking about her financial woes. When she went to leave the cafe owner handed her a cheque for something like £10k that George had given him for her as he left

"Wham! have secured the Christmas 2023 number one single with Last Christmas, 39 years after the beloved festive hit was released. Andrew Ridgeley must be making a fortune out of royalties still?"

"Lovely version of ""fairy tale of new York "" one of the few xmas songs I can stomach"
Re: Shane McGowan has sung his last fairytale
"As Christie Moore said, he may not have been born on the Emerald Isle etc but is ( now was ) greatest Irish songwriter of modern times. Saw them in the 80s , always a great night even if SM was struggling to remember his words. RIP seems appropriate as his life on earth was just manic"

Another 'great story' of this 'Irish' Englishman from Kent is that he 'regretted' not joining the IRA. What a 'legend'.

"The Nick Cave interview with him about Shane McGowan is good. Cave said he used to be round McGowan's house and all around there were screwed up bits of paper with lyrics never used, that Cave said were every bit as good as Fairytale of New York. Rainy night in Soho God bless"

Re: Shane McGowan has sung his last fairytale
The irony about SM’s teeth is that his wife seemed to be making up for his lack of them. She has a massive set of Horse teeth!
