"Last nights game seemed to confirm what many say. Moyes notable weakness, in the modern era, that of managing and developing a squad. He can put out a decent first 11 assuming no injuries that can compete with most teams and that is something. The tactics and approach are one dimensional at times but he has been getting some results. The counter argument is that he should be able to at least have a decent first 11 with the 400-500 million spent as compared to say Brighton. But what has become clear in what is his 4th season? Complete failure to build and / or develop a squad. Recruitment has been a big part of that. Until Steidten turned up Moyes focus was experienced pros with Premiership experience on top of a few that he inherited along with 2 solid pros with good attitudes from Czech. His striker additions all failed as have several midfield additions . Now sone of these may have been scouted by Newman or “gifts “from Sullivan but he, by his own admission controlled all recruitment. The type of player bought all lack pace, athleticism with Moyes tending to favour any player with CB qualities and honest decent pros above skill, flair and aforementioned attributes. In short we need Steidten to resist Moyes recommendations as far as possible. He did ok with JWP but suspect it was purely set piece ability he went for although JWP has proved to be a neat and tidy midfielder. Moyes won’t change. Steidten and his scouts and data analytics need to get us 5 or 6 players of quality and replace Soucek, Kehrer, Benny, Fornals, Cornet, Oggy, Coufal and possibly Downes who Moyes has written off. Some of the above need to be sold like Kehrer, Downes and Cornet simply because the manager doesn’t like or want them not necessarily because they dont have abilities that could be developed. Others like Benny, Fornals and Coufal too slow and getting on a tad now. Oggy is too old periiod. 2 more seasons of decent recruitment from Steidten to correct the problems Moyes has created in the squad. Some clubs would just get a new manager but Sullivan is loyal and results wise Moyes has delivered so Steidten has been hired to hopefully compensate for Moyes weaknesses."

"The result was fine IMO, but we winged it and have winged other games too, maybe we are just lucky? It was very galling watching us with 20 left holding for a point at home to Brighton, it was like we had 10 men. I'm scratching my head wondering what other clubs would do that, certainly none in the top half. Maybe a few of all the Moyes backers in the media watched last night on a cold, wet Tuesday night and finally woke up to why so many want Moyes out of the club, probably not though. Matt Holland in comms commented a few times what a bad watch we are. Funny thing is we are in a very good place right now, 6th on 34 pts, two winnable league games next, should be in the next round of the FA Cup. Then add Europe and hopefully one or two good additions this month, and we will be looking primed for a good second half."

"There was a point early in the 2nd half when Bowen (i think) turned over possession and we started a counter attack the ball goes out to Benny and our players are busting to get in the box, but literally 20 seconds later the ball is with Areola. If we are a goal down with 5/10 mins left then that ball goes in the area. So where is this lack of intent coming from? The players themselves or are they instructed to play like that?"
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Brighton - Official Match Thread - Preview
"Without Kudus and Paq of course we were going to be dross against a Brighton side who are well drilled in moving the ball around. Even the biggest Moyes critic should have a little sympathy for that game. Was interesting when the usual suspects moaned immediately at seeing the lineup, when they were asked for their lineup. Could they answer? Could they fuck"

Cannot be arsed to go back over previous games statistics but I would hazard a guess that probably only Luton away would have us at over 50% possession and more shots then the opposition.

10 points from 4 Xmas PL games including Man Utd and Arsenal. Can't argue with that.

"Not much to say except it was pretty fucking shit, and dull, and happy to take the point. We now have two very winnable league games coming up and should be in the 4th round of the FA Cup, so could be in very good shape by early Feb. Break def come at the right time now. As crap as tonight was I thought Fornals, Johnson and Benny were all OK. Dinos now looks like he could be a real asset, and Oggy isn't finished after all."

"Nutsin 3:18 Wed Jan 3 How thick are you nutsack? Our local Sainsburys is terribly managed, but when I walk around observing the toxicity of the culture and remark on the rotten vegetables or the out of date chicken, not one person expects me to offer a name for a replacement manager, because intelligent people recognise that its possible to appreciate when something needs improving without having to offer all the answers, and my lack of knowledge of the market for retail professionals doesn't necessarily undermine my view"

"We've got 2 very winnable matches up next and after last night's performances by many of the team they are ideal games to ease in a few of the youth, if not as starters then second half subs. Someone should tell Moyes that it's possible to have a settled team without the same 11 players week-in, week-out. Settled and static formations are not synonymous; rotation allows the main core and those so rotated to get used to each other even if the line up is slightly different each week."

"Suliivan was insane to suggest Champs league football within 5 years, however, we're slowly building into a top 6 side without spending billions. Rome wasn't built in a day, or even a decade. We don't have the squad depth that Liverpool and Man City enjoy, but, that may come over the next 3-5 years. Under TS we've added Paq, Kudus, Alvarez, and JWP, as well as Mav, who's shaping up well. And we are financially healthy. This may piss many of you off, but the board have done wonders for the club, and we're going on an upward trajectory. Or maybe you'd like Terry Brown back, and the amazing football we played under his tenure?"

"what today proved is that we have some very good players that we miss when not available and we don't have the strength in depth we need at this level. We need to move on and upgrade the likes of Fornals, Cresswell, Johnson, Antonio and if Cornet and Kehrer are out of favor them too. Very lucky to emerge form that with a point, as we have been in other games recently"

"With a bit of luck the next 6/12 months will see us get rid of a lot of the squad who simply aren’t good enough, and continue the great recent recruitment by bringing in more quality and depth. A decent result tonight, with all things considered. But proper dull."

"Ron Eff 1:52 Wed Jan 3 Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Brighton - Official Match Thread - Preview Literally all-sides outside of the very top have games like that. Arsenal just lost to Moyes. Brighton got hammed 3-1 by us at the start of the season, we just put 3 past a half-decent wolves side. Unless you are winning the league you[re probably going to lose as much as win with a few games deciding if you end up in Europe or in a relegation battle. It‚Äôs a testament to Moyes‚Äô success that winning and drawing games isn‚Äôt enough ay more."

"Just a single positive thing from this game. We played badly and still got a point and kept a clean sheet. The last two games, where we were this bad, we let in 5. Let’s hope that we respond in the same way, as we did after those other two. ⚒⚒"

"Chaps, Although they have a kit that reminds us of Tesco's savers, injuries included they have a fucking good side. Four points in a season against them seems a pretty good return against a team that has never had such confidence. Tonight wasn't an easy watch and exposed our reserves but without Pacman and Mo I thought we did okay and I was happy with the point. Obviously my standards aren't as high as yours?"

"So who do you recommend we replace Moyes with? Who in this Football manager hiding in the shadows who is gonna come in and play attacking, exciting, fun to watch football, win games ant an high clip and take us on glorious European nights out then? I’ll wait!"

"If not delighted by the result, under the circumstances I am not unhappy with the result. What I was really pleased about is that when I got to the station going to the game all trains had been cancelled because a tree had blown down on the overhead wires. Decision do I go another route and hope the return trains will be running? I went home. Watched on Sky and fitted in some of the darts ate some more mince pies and washed them down with coconut-flavoured rum. Oh and the trains still aren't running. Now I know you could say the same for West Ham but I thought one or two of them did, particularly Alvarez my motm."
