Anyone working in a care home through COVID deserves a medal It's a tough job in any circumstances to look after people, become friends with them and one day knock on their door with a cup of tea and find them dead, sometimes in horrible ways. "Steve, my wife is also from the Philippines and came here on a spouse visa in 2011 - jumped through all the hurdles to eventually get citizenship and has now worked night shifts in a care home for the past five years. During Covid she never missed a shift and saw many residents die. One of her responsibilities now is end of life care so when residents are in their last hours she sits with them, keeps them comfortable, and makes sure they don't die alone. She was motivated to do this not by money but because of what she saw with Covid. For this she gets paid £11 an hour The Tories are scum for what they are doing. I only hope that when they die they lie there alone, soaking in their own piss and shit. Perhaps then they can start to appreciate what people like my wife did for this country."
