We won't buy a striker. That's Bowens job now .providing his injury isn't serious. It will be a left sided player . Absolutely nailed on . And cover for Alvarez would be the next obvious option.

"I hope we get someone through the door. We should learn our lesson from two years back when we failed to sign anyone when in a great position and paid heavily for it. I remember Moyes trotting out the line of ""not bringing anyone in if there not better than we already have and just for the sake of it""when in reality Antonio was out on his feet and we desperately needed some kind of cover Chris Wood would of provided that cover and was available but ended up going to Newcastle. He is to old now unless we do some kind of Sags swap deal with Ings and Antonio."

As for Lookman. Thought he looked good at both Fulham and Leicester. Surprised no prem sides went for him.

Clarke from Sunderland is the kind of signing we should go for. Even more so with our HG quota predicament.

"In fairness to Moyes hasn't he wanted to play Bowen up top in recent times? Of course, I totally expect that to be spun by the usual crew. Btw, who was it on here who thought we had missed out on that carthorse Beto at Everton, not so long ago?"

"Eerie, it really does depend on which direction Sullivan wants to take the club today. The talk of sacking Moyes, then extending his contract there’s no strong leadership or even guidance. Whoever we sign, if anyone, should give us all a clue as to the direction we’re going to take, if it’s a battering ram or nobody the writing is on the wall re Moyes."

Eerie - there was a Claret & Booze YouTube yesterday and they were showing comments made by Everton fans on a Man U site. They said exactly the same as you have below. Yet some think he can change.. All the comments could be from here today.

"Szmodics is 28 and has only had a couple of seasons in the Championship, this is his first season scoring regularly in that division. Plus he's 5""6, what on earth is this manager going to do with him? Let's get it right, we need a big fast lump. Doesn't really matter what he's like on the ball, or whether he scores goals, we need a battering ram who's going to cause agg. No point signing a good footballer to play up top."

"Got no doubt he’d fit Moyes MO as a striker, would like to see Steidten block that one though as it would probably mean they’re giving more time for Moyes."

GBHammer63 Szmodics signed a new long term contract with Blackburn as recently as November and stated at the time he and his family were happily settled in the north west. Although not impossible to lure him away we would now be paying a premium and far more than.when we should of moved for him in the summer when he had clearly shown ability but his stock and value was considerably lower. I was very impressed with Conway on Sunday who put himself about scored a good goal and looked a livewire throughout. I'm basing this on one performance of course but also seemed to have a decent first touch so no poor man's Jordan Hughill He is only 21 so plenty of potential to develop under the right manager. I

"It’s pointless to speculate about who we’d like, more realistic to think about who would want to come, FWIW we should be all over Szmodics at Blackburn, his partners family are Hornchurch and West Ham, he’s scoring for fun and fucking hard working. It’d be like coming to the strikers Bermuda Triangle though."

"Guirassy is quick, can use both feet and has decent movement. Not seen him do much with his head. Reminds me a bit of Isak at Newcastle. He's worth a punt. Won't get the space he's used to but if we are playing counter attack then he at least has more about him than Ings."

I’ve always liked the look of Lookman. He’s banging goals in in Italy. He can play on both sides or as a forward. He’s even taking proper penalties these days.

"Must confess I am surprised he never signed Adama Traor?© to convert into a striker. Big, quick, no real footballing brain and doesn't know where the goal is, sounds perfect!"

"No point signing a striker whilst Moyes is managing us! Haller, Hughil, Scamacca & Ings, even the 3 youth strikers that came through since he's been here didn't work out. Be better off looking for a winger who he can convert, Arnautovic, Antonio and Bowen. His record with strikers is remarkable really. Pretty sure Kane & Haaland would struggle under him."

Ludo 21 I agree with that . But the drop from pacqueta and Kudus to benrhama and fornals . Is ridiculous it's the equivalent of when Michael hutchence dumped Helena Christiansen for Paula Yates still very attractive but nowhere near the same .

Wouldn't put any money on Paqueta being here next season and I don't suppose Kudus will be far behind him unfortunately. Hope I'm wrong!
