2.5 more years of watching my team play like Muhammad Ali (tries to stiffle laughter). What's not to enjoy?

"If Moyes gets offered a new contract as is being reported, then I hope that it is on a different basis than he has previously enjoyed. By that I mean that Moyes no longer gets final say on transfers and has to involve young academy players in the squad. I would also want a condition that squad players get some playing time. Not necessarily start games but substitute time. I don't know how that can be written into a contract but maybe have a condition that if he doesn't do it they can end the new contract after a year without penalities... ."

"QQQ - Ideally, I want a coach who plays better football, assume most do, but also accept it absolutely is a risk binning Moyes off, but to say it's results over football and we 'could' be a joy to watch does make you come across as pretty entitled not happy with our position. I mean, does anyone really want to lose 4-3? The Brighton manager says he does, rather than winning 1-0, but do you believe him? 'Coz I don't. And there have been a lot of very happy West Ham fans leaving stadiums lately, and to boot big bragging rights, which let's have it right, counts for a fucking lot, especially in this digital/SM age! Did you go to Arsenal and Tottenham?"

"Yes, fraser, but I'd add ""while Pacqueta AND Kudus are still at the club"" I imagine he will be on as many if not more radars than Pacqueta"

"I would love to see us buy a striker and left sided player while Paqueta is still at the club. Imagine a midfield of Alvarez, Paqueta and Kudus... Alverez sitting, Kudus carrying the ball and Paqueta with runners to hit with pace Bowen on the right, a pacey striker and left sided player. We'd be brilliant to watch..."

"100% correct about Bowen there, Nick Against Man Utd he was completely ineffective playing through the middle. The goals came immediately after he was switched back to the right"

"I don’t see the point in the timing to be honest. It’s been up in the air for half the season, why renew early, particularly because of the players will lose to Afcon etc. could quite easily go the other way. It was only one month ago that he was under pressure. I just don’t see the need to renew, especially for a couple of years. It also means we won’t sign a striker which is still a massive issue and despite the goals it’s wasting Bowen’s best attribute which is running with the ball. Like others have said, it’s football over results. Depends what you want I guess, but as for those at games will know, despite some recent improvements that football has been dross for a long time. And he’s had a significant war chest, so surely the results are on par with that spend? Plus we have a squad who with a different manager could be a joy to watch."

"The shame is you can't choose to have a year or two out. Give it up and you're done. That said, I don't think I can bring myself to renew if he's here for another two and a half years"

"""So what gives if Moyes stays on for the unhappy ones? Just continue to moan and be bored every week, or knock it on the head and do something else and save money in the process?"" That's a good question, said I wasn't going to renew next season if he was kept on, but probably will.. It has been fucking terrible over there this season... Most games people are just chatting about shit other than the football... It has improved the last month to be fair, I've enjoyed the games since Freiburg... Hopefully can keep moving in that direction.."

"When a home side wins say 1-0 and it's been boring and scrappy, including City and Liverpool, you still always here a loud cheer/roar when the ref blows up for full time, so for me winning and three points does override everything else, but I totally relate to what the likes of mad dog and others are saying regarding entertainment levels. Even from my armchair I've been bored shitless watching some games this season and start losing attention - it's not just because we set up not to have any possession, but also all the sideways and backward passes when we do have it. So what gives if Moyes stays on for the unhappy ones? Just continue to moan and be bored every week, or knock it on the head and do something else and save money in the process?"

Capitol Man 5:52 Sat Dec 30 We are performing 'just as well' as we did in Europe in the two previous seasons. No better with the potential for it to be worse. We have two points more than at the same stage of the 2021/22 season and one point more than in 2020/21... hardly a 'massive' improvement. He has spent significantly more money than any manager that preceded him I suspect the vast majority of those in favour of a contract extension are armchair fans and don't actually go to games... like all those neutrals I meet in the pub that can't believe it's even open to discussion

This place is fucking mental.. Go and read the Liverpool match thread... The majority fuming because they didn't care about the league results and would rather have tried to win a cup... Then this one after winning the two league games they didn't care about...

"onsideman 5:08 Sat Dec 30 Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS That we are performing assively better than last season and so have literally “progressed”? That we are succeeding in Europe while still doing well domestically - again , progress. And yes I get that you[re saying last season isn’t the bar by which to measure progress, but then what is - being sixth, third straight year of success in Europe, highest win percentage of any west ham manager in history? First trophy in 43 years. Have to laugh at all the excuses that we should be ignoring any inconvenient successes in Moyes tie here. It’s fucking sad that so any of you can’t bring yourselves to just enjoy it and see how things stand t the end of the season."

"I heard that Moyes was in line for a gong to be awarded for ""Services to the Big 6 in English Association football"", but that was scuppered by West Ham beating Tottenham, Manchester United and Arsenal recently."

"We had 12 points. The same form in the second half of the season would have meant finishing on 24. That total has led to relegation in every season, so guaranteed relegation form. It's not complicated"
