The tester is the upcoming window….will he rock the boat of his favoured 11 to get in a player to boost the energy within the squad or will he burn the team out at the key latter part of the season? We are still in the Europa but this is a vastly more difficult line up in the latter stages so unlikely to get qualification from that and in the league we’ve tended to step away whilst others use their squad to finish strongly. He gets the momentum going then works them into the ground to miss out on a final flourish this is where SQUAD’s become integral to success…..he doesn’t like squad managing unless forced…..

"I look back at the past years since perhaps Harry and can’t think of exciting football with any manager that we had? Enlighten me? I’m not a lover of any manager but someone has to take the credit for 3 seasons in Europe and a trophy, it’s not the board is it?"

"fraser 10:42 Yeh, agree with that. I’d like a grand (not a nicker!) for every time we’ve all said that (we’re not renewing) over the years. Then a ‘top’ player/manager’s announced and then its “yeh, think we’ll do alright this season”. It’s the West Ham addict in us. And yeh, let’s hope we can keep it going now and go for the jugular a lot more. I still want the sweaty tosser out btw, whatever appens."

Vexed is 100% correct. Tragic to read some of the comments on social media saying how he's the best manager in our entire history

I love how the Moyes out brigade just focus in on the 14th position last season and conveniently leave out the other seasons.its not like this season is some one off fluke.

"Manuel 11:41 Sat Dec 30 Loved the results agains Spurs and Arsenal, so of course that makes me happy. I just have a longer memory than the last few months and think it could easily slip the other way. Pessimistic, probably. Don’t get me wrong I am always results over performance, it’s just with the money we’ve spent and the players we’ve got I think we could have both with a better coach. Like others have said he divides the fans. The reason I’d like to see a change is the giving up of the ball and playing our best players out of position. That and the football."

"Really torn about this. What’s happened in the last three seasons seems on the face of it to make it a no brainer with the two very good finishes and the position now, and the cup win. You can really see why people looking in from the outside think we are mad to want to replace him. But there’s the tactics/performances, the arguably bad man management and stubbornness, last seasons domestic performances where 14th probably flattered us and the feeling someone else with fresher ideas could do somewhat more with less."

"Whatever the club’s official position on various matters like the manager’s role and menopause, the facts are what they are, and I would tend to agree with Sir Alf that Stiedten’s role is key; in Moyes’s case, I believe it will be a deal breaker as here he will be asked to share what he regards as a proper manager’s remuneration with Stiedten."

I'm not sure why there now seems to be a binary choice between winning 1-0 or losing 4-3 When did that rule come in?

"H&P Reported on the BBC: ""The Scot is not mentioned by David Sullivan in his assessment of the last financial year. However, the statement does say that the club’s ""strong relationship with the manager will continue to assist in building and improving the squad"". You may also be interested in this, part of the club's official statement on the accounts: ""We became the first Premier League club to receive the Menopause Friendly Accreditation."" You might know someone who benefits from this."

"My admittedly wishful thinking is Steitden handling most if not all transfer dealings will move Moyes into more of a coach than old school manager. Getting him better quality players that compliment each other ( a balanced team ) and him realising that good leadership is better than him doing everything in control freak style. Hopefully at 60 years old Moyes realises it’s a last chance to really achieve something and it takes a team and using the strengths of others. With better technicians and more athletes and pace that Steidten recruits ( based on data analysis etc ) a natural process is us getting and keeping the ball better and hence ability to “sometimes” play differently when teams like Everton do the Moyesball tactics on us. Will he compromise? Will it just haloen with better players and a balanced squad and see some rotation ? We simply don’t know. History and Moyes alleged psychological / behavioural traits ( evidenced by prickly defensive responses in interviews and rumours of poor man management, ostracising players, not listening to his coaches etc ) suggests the proverbial “old dog new tricks” problem but we have to hope Steidten convinces him via transfer business and developing a relationship and trust that we can play different ways."

"Is that so Coffee? Over the years I have arrived at a place where I tend not to take what Sullivan says to the media at face value. Think Moyes would be well-advised to do the same, especially when talking about a high-level post of this kind."

"The thing with being a proper football fan, who loves his or her club, is you surely don't just go to games to hopefully be entertained, you also go wishing to see a preferred outcome - so your emotions and happiness, or not, are going to be a lot different to say neutrals, during and after the game has finished, neutrals just want to be entertained. To have both is great, but I'd rather be having a pint afterwards discussing a boring 1-0 win, rather than a 4-3 defeat."

"Putting the pieces together, the offer is a Luke-warm opening. It is short term, does not include a full manager’s duties as transfers are with Steidten and will probably be part of a tender open to other candidates. Moyes will be free to talk to other potential employers and I think he is likely to find a much more satisfactory partner elsewhere."

"Manuel 100% agree with that. I'd much rather leave a game having scraped a 1-0 win than having lost valiantly. There are times for the heroic defeat, but those times are rare. But we do seem to have had our share of the dour: Curbs, BFS and maybe Moyes. I remember people on here moaning like fuck about too many 10th place finishes under Curbs. But he saved us from relegation, with a little help from Tevez. BFS got us promoted and I still laugh about his encounter with Chico Flores (it's here if you want a reminder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UG07abIWFfU ). I also remember way too many stupid defeats under Greenwood and Lyall, as well as two FA Cup wins."

"Moyes is always gonna be marmite with you either loving or hating him. He done a great job of settling the club down when he came back in as it was in a mess, but the way his supporters look at him liie hes a god is ridiculous really. Yeah the euro trophy was cracking, but there were literally zero actual quality teams in the entire comp. Guess I should be happy he at least tried to win it, as he throws almost every other cup competition he's in!!! Probably deserves a new contract, but I personally find us unwatchable mixed in with the football killer that is VAR. All well and good nicking fortunate wins in London derbies away from home, but he does the same negative tactics at home to the utter shit teams as well. Ultimately the owners would only make an abysmal appointment of another useless boring cսnt anyway, so may as well stick with this boring jock."
