Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS

"dolph 10:01 Sat Dec 30 Of course it is, provided you do so from personal experience rather than from an archair via a screen of some nature I don't understand the fascination with Nandos but I wouldn't be qualified to argue against it unless I'd been, would I?"

"goose, TBF, Tottenham changed their manager because results were indifferent and Conte publicity criticised their owners. Not really to do with changing their approach to the game. More to do with results and working with a bit of a lunatic."
Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
Is it not possible to use your eyes and heart to produce another opinion then?

Wouldn’t get too fixated with the Pellegrini episode - every club needs to develop and Moyes has been a valuable development that has provided us with a defensive shape and base. It isn’t much of a brainer though that we need to move on beyond that and Moyes isn’t going to offer that next step. The risk it will all go wrong is a basic given.
Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
"""People who spend their hard earned money to go to games are saying they’re not enjoying what’s being served up"" Yet every game is sold out. Using that as a reason to change the manager would be like a restaurant that is fully booked for months ahead changing its menu because a couple of whingers left a negative review."
Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
"Btw Karen, your assumption that there’s more failures than successes is completely made up. Nearly all managers fail eventually. About 2 years is the average. I can think of two current PL teams who changed management in order to change their approach to the game - spurs & Bournemouth. Both are working out alright so far."

"Capitol Man 9:21 Sat Dec 30 What the merry fuck do you mean ""Got nothing...""? I've got everything I need to form an opinion based upon what I see and feel with my eyes and my heart. The fact that you cite a comparison with last season as evidence of massive progress when we have just one point more than at this stage 3 years ago is enough to prove to me that it's you that has nothing."
Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
"Why does everyone who goes to games work so hard to earn this money they spend on matches? Also, why does the opinion of the same lot count for more than the opinion of people who don’t go to matches?"
Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
"Nobody is missing any point. People who spend their hard earned money to go to games are saying they’re not enjoying what’s being served up. Teams change managers all the time, some work out and some don’t. There’s no guarantee either way."

"And how any more have failed and gone backwards? Again, that’s the point you seem to be missing. For every success there’s many more failures. And how many times is a change of manager done for more entertainment rather than being based on results? And how often has that gone wel? Anyone come up with an example where it’s gone well for us in the past?"
Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
"There is zero incentive for the board to replace Moyes in the hope that the quality of football will improve. From their perspective, they sell all 62,500 seats at every home Premier game so how would they benefit from more attractive football?"

"Ha ha ha, Ted lasso, great; still got nothing have you. Matchday experience ay not be what you like, but you don’t’ seem to be able to grasp what is being said here. What are the odds that it’s going to get better by changing manager? 5%, 10%? Maybe we will get lucky but the chances are we won’t. Pelligrini being the perfect example where we let Moyes walk before and then ended up getting him back as things fell apart."

Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
"Tell you what, Ted Lasso, I'll work on that as soon as you give me some insight on the dire state of our matchday experience I'm sure that, on paper, Moyes looks just great from where you're sitting"

"While you’re at it, how about this golden era of entertainment? From memory I never found passing it around in little triangles for 89 minutes then having some lump like Kevin Davis bundle in a winner wasn’t especially good entertainment either. Harry had a bit of good fortune I getting DiCanio after no one else would have hi after the ref incident and Bliic landed Payet at the top of his game. But any manager deliver good entertaining football and sustained results over more than a season?"

Did any of you come up with an example of where this has gone well for us in the past as a sign this would be a wise move? It should be easy when you go to so many games right?

Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
"There are only 4 teams with an average possession rate less than ours, and 5 with worse passing accuracy. This isn’t because we have crap players, it’s because Moyes sets us up to play that way and will never change. We are the only team in the top ten that play this way, as it’s extremely limited. Hence Moyes one away win in 25 years against Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool."

Re: Moyes being offered a new contract. FFS
Moyes is very much from another era where the manager signed the players and had overall control of footballing maters. Will he / can he adapt to the brave new world ? He isn't progressive enough for a lot on here but he still has the nous to put the skids on a lot of the new kids on the block. Style of football is always going to be the mute point particularly when we lose Jury well and truly out

So caps doesn't actually pay good money to travel to a game and watch West Ham. Interesting
