Mubama
"Let's face it. He was awful when he came on last night. Supporters clamber for youngsters to be given a chance, but they must seize their opportunities and prove their worth when given game time. Mubama fluffed his lines last night. He's clearly not good enough. Looks like a League 1 level player to me."

Re: Mubama
"Remember, Moyes gave Rooney his debut at 16, so if Mubama was ripping it in training he's be getting starts by now. The backroom staff see the players day after day, week after week, and the good young 'uns will get promoted to train with the 1st team squad, and despite what many of you think, they (backroom) know their stuff. No one that we have let go in the past ten or even twenty years has gone on to be a top prem player, which makes me think that they get it right."
Re: Mubama
"TWOCUNTS I rate him more than Ings,he's already proved that in the little time he's. I've also said frewuently I rate Marshall more. However i think like they have succesfully played many times should be given the chance to play alongside each other. unlike you i provide good indepth analysis, you just criticise others when they are correct and have a different opinion"

Re: Mubama
"I tend to think if he was the next striking messiah and the solution to our problems up front he would be playing for us more regularly already. I recall we harped on endlessly about Diangana too (among others), yet when it came to it he just wasn't good enough when it came to playing at the top level."

Re: Mubama
"Ive seen plenty of players who have been bought for millions look crap when played as bit part players for teams. Of course he isn't the finished article, how many of the mistakes are due to nerves, playing Moyesball and not having played alongside these players has to be factored in. The more opportunities the better he will get. I also agree that working on the first touch and his passing accuracy will put him in a better position. Shouldn't be down on a player based on a couple of appearances. Maybe he will be a League One player but should still be given more chances."
Re: Mubama
"His ability to control and pass a football seem to be the main barrier. It's usually something you have to have at a young age but it can certainly be improved at any age. If he was a really determined young man, he would stay behind for hours after training and work on that, Might be other things that still cause an issue but that seems to stand out a mile and is pretty fundamental. When younger you can get away with it if you're a big strong forward but at Premiership level physicality is less of a differentiator because every player is strong. Btw, that's one thing that makes Kudus so special though. He's the exception. Physically stronger than most and ability to protect the ball but great control and decent passing and technique. Hopefully Mubama being developed by coaching staff? Although Moyes not famed for that as we know"

Re: Mubama
"Fucking hell, how about it being if you don’t stick to what the manager wants from you he doesn’t play you…..I see a young player carrying out his instructions to finest detail….because of this it is impossible to judge him as a goal scoring striker as he’s only been asked to do that when we were chasing the game at Burnley….."
Re: Mubama
"I would agree that he hasn't shown that he can play at this level, but I don't think he's shown that he can't, either. I haven't seen what he's like in front of goal when a chance comes his way, or what he's like one-on-one with the keeper, because in the short space of time he's on the pitch he doesn't get into those positions. Is that his positional play, or lack of service? Seems more like the latter to me, so far."
Re: Mubama
"From what I have seen, when he plays for U21's & U23's he often picks up the ball in the middle of the pitch and makes a run for the goal .... often scoring. He does not play with his back to goal a la Antonio. He does not work the channels. I think he would be better suited to an attacking mid-fielder role but he will be hard pressed to shift Kudus out of that role. Unless Kudus were unavailable for a period of time, in an international tournament, on another continent. Hmm."

Re: Mubama
Our two that went to Sunderland are doing well in the top half of the Championship. Of course whether they can make the next step up is the big question.
Re: Mubama
"""we have a load of shit on the bench"" Does that include the 5 youngsters that were on the bench against Brighton?"

Re: Mubama
"El - 'On paper' you are correct, but there is a school of thought out there that if we had kept some of them youngsters and developed them further they may have come good. Not saying I agree, but it is out there. Must be a real kick in the bollocks to be released, and maybe some just lose the desire to go again at a lower level. Think about how many top youngsters we have now and not one has made it through yet and we have a load of shit on the bench? Is Miley at Newcastle better than our youngsters? Maybe he is, don't know."

Re: Mubama
"Manuel/Scorch, Yeah, I tend to agree with all that. We've generally called it right down the years - keeping the better youth teamers and letting a few decent lads go, who go on to have solid careers. Not too many Ray Houghtons! No idea about Divin. Naturally, as a local lad, I want him to do well for us. But he doesn't have much time left now before his contract is up."
