"Had my left eye done last october, its more uncomfortable than painful and the outcome is well worth it. They make the four incisions with a laser, but the rest of the procedure is exactly as described below. I didn't bother having corrective lens fitted as my eyesight is pretty good and I only need glasses for driving"

"I'm fine after the op still. Had my post-op check-up two days ago and the surgeon was positively buoyant, so assume all is still well. At my end everything is still good, too. The world is a bright new shiny place still and I have further IG and focal sharpness to look forward too over the next few weeks. As for lasers, I dunno, except I was told it was done with lasers. I dinnae see a knife, but then not sure I was supposed to see one :)"

"Worked as a Theatre Operating Technician (ODP), one time in Ophthalmics. Like Hammer and Pickle said about laser surgery its very unlikely that it is used to treat Cataracts. Normally its cornea tissue cut, irrigation balance of the Vitreous Humour of the front chamber of the eye to remove any ""floaters"", extraction of the cataract with a cyro-probe then lastly the ""IOL"" - implant of lens. Laser tend to more for the Retina treatment for long or short-sightedness . In any case I am glad you're on the mend and back on the road."

"This is the dramatic bit plankton. She’s very frail now and as mental as ever so we don’t think she’d make it through GA even if she survives the visit to the vet. If she could still hiss and spit and slash, we’d maybe have risked it. But now she can’t defend herself we really think it’s too much of a risk. And she’s still happy enough in her own little world - eats voraciously, reacts to movement and finds her way around the house no problem. It’s only the pupils that don’t respond to light which tells us she must have cataracts. So all things considered it’s no op."

Cannot say enough that it is the most brilliant way of restoring colour, contrast and IG to your sight if you've been living in a murky dingy yellowish nightmare for a few years. If you have cataracts and are uneasy about getting them done, fear not and hurry to your nearest laser. You will not regret it! Can't help the OP with advice on cataracts in cats, but I'm sure they'll appreciate the op too."
