"I remember having a Fred Perry cardigan in grey that went very well with my White & navy/lt blue trim Polo shirt. I was about 12/13 and just starting to get into my clobber, this was a good start for me."

Cardigan-wearing is part of a syndrome. One of its first signs is allowing the Trouble to purchase one’s apparel on a regular basis. You’ll be living in the shed with a train set soon.

I’ve never owned a cardigan and never plan to. The wife has just purchased two wonderful French Connection hoodies for me. Black and grey in case you’re interested.
