Saturday football
"There’s no Premier League this weekend – that starts again on Tuesday. Instead, the FA Cup goes into the fourth round, still featuring Bristol City who gained another creditable outcome and lucrative replay against Premier League opposition last night with a goalless draw at home to Nottingham Forest. There’s no need to explain why we won’t be taking part. There are just two Championship games today with Millwall hosting Preston while Stoke visit Sunderland. *SATURDAY – FA CUP 4th ROUND* IPSWICH TOWN vs MAIDSTONE UNITED (1230) Championship promotion hunters take on another promotion-seeking side, this one from the National League South. Home win. EVERTON vs LUTON TOWN (1500) A fixture both sides could do without, but that neither would want to lose. Home win. LEEDS UNITED vs PLYMOUTH ARGYLE (1500) Home win. LEICESTER CITY vs BIRMINGHAM CITY (1500) Home win. SHEFFIELD UNITED vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION (1500) Home win. FULHAM vs NEWCASTLE UNITED (1900) Home win. *SUNDAY – FA CUP 4th ROUND * WEST BROMWICH ALBION vs WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS (1145) Starts before the pubs get going. Can you imagine the excitable accents gathered at the Hawthorns this morning? Or roight. Away win. WATFORD vs SOUTHAMPTON (1400) The Saints are focusing on an immediate return to the top flight, but should dispatch the Hornets with ease. Away win. LIVERPOOL vs NORWICH CITY (1430) The Canaries won’t thank Jurgen Klopp for the timing of his momentous announcement. Could get messy. Home win. NEWPORT COUNTY vs MANCHESTER UNITED (1630) Wouldn’t it be luverly if… Away win. *MONDAY – FA CUP 4th ROUND * BLACKBURN ROVERS vs WREXHAM (1930) Wrexham have form against higher league FA Cup opponents. Nevertheless: Home win. *TUESDAY – PREMIER LEAGUE* NOTTINGHAM FOREST vs ARSENAL (1930) Forest still reserve their best for home fixtures, and they’ll have to be at their very best to get anything from this. Arsenal to resume their battle for top spot. Away win. FULHAM vs EVERTON (1945) Both sides are out of the bottom three, but will know that they could easily be pulled back in. Entertainment could be in short supply at Craven Cottage. Draw. LUTON TOWN vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION (1945) The dotted line is tantalisingly within Luton’s grasp. A win today could see them go above it. Draw. CRYSTAL PALACE vs SHEFFIELD UNITED (2000) It will take a miracle for the Blades to escape relegation, even with Chris Wilder’s return. Palace aren’t clear of the drop zone, not by a long measure. Draw. ASTON VILLA vs NEWCASTLE UNITED (2015) A tough one for both sides, but you have to fancy Villa who also have territorial advantage. Home win *WEDNESDAY – PREMIER LEAGUE* MANCHESTER CITY vs BURNLEY (1930) Master hosts grasshopper. Virtually every game is now must win if Burnley are to survive the season. And if Man City are to win the Premier League. Home win. TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs BRENTFORD (1930) Spurs will be disappointed at having lost to a late Man City FA Cup goal last Friday. They’ll be in a mood to get back to winning ways. Brentford come into this on the back of one win and five defeats since the beginning of December. No honey for the Bees tonight. Home win. LIVERPOOL vs CHELSEA (2015) Chelsea have improved of late, but are still no match for the league leaders. Home win. *THURSDAY – PREMIER LEAGUE* WEST HAM UNITED vs BOURNEMOUTH (1930) Moyes has reportedly been chasing Kalvin Phillips for a long time. It will be interesting to see how and when Phillips repays that faith. One thing for sure is that we’re now a stronger side, particularly when all first choicers are available, as we chase once more for a Europa finish and, better still, a Europa League champions trophy. But before all that there’s the small matter of beating sides like Sheffield United and today’s opponents. After a dodgy start to the campaign, the Cherries enjoyed a purple patch only to see that end at Spurs on the last day of 2023. A 0-4 demolition by Liverpool followed but so did a 5-0 thrashing of Swansea in the FA Cup last week. So which Bournemouth side will we see tonight? Indeed, which West Ham side will be see? Home win. WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS vs MANCHESTER UNITED (2015) Remarkably, three points are all that separates Wolves from Man U. And the hosts have a better goal difference. Things not looking too rosy in the red half of Manchester. Draw."

Re: Saturday football
You have to admire what Luton are doing Many / most would have said they'd be lucky to get 20 pts all season and now with Everton & Forest due to get penalty points they must be confident of finishing outside the bottom 3 Amazing result to smash everyones DARLINGS Brighton Personally think Forest should get a basic 10 point deduction .... the losses are a matter of FACT Likewise Evertons frivolous appeal should see 10 points become 20 plus a further 20 for their new offence

"A Wolves win is probably the best outcome for us tomorrow, no matter how we do, so get ready for them to emulate Aston Villa on our behalf."

Re: Saturday football
Saw the 5th round draw Looks abysmal and Maidstone will be gutted to be sent to Sheffield Fucking Wednesday or Coventry rather than Man City or Liverpool Watched a bit of Maidstone yesterday and at h/t they showed highlights of the 1978 final before introducing John Wark & George Burley (Ipswich smashed Arsenal and should have scored 4 ... Wark hit the post twice) Alex Scott started by calling John Wark George and when her error was pointed out asked George Burley about HIM hitting the post twice. Am guessing Joey Barton had a coronary

"Agree Feet although was not that long ago we experienced some of what it must feel like ? Mind you we never had the points deduction thing to contend with and knowing that you might win a few games but then get hit with another deduction? For that , even a misery like me, is grateful. :-)"
