Daily Quiz anyone?

Post easthammer »

"If you are stuck at home and bored like me. How about exercising the old grey cells? I have for a number of years run quiz nights and couple of times a year. I was due to do one tomorrow which is now cancelled So I have a bank of questions sitting in my computer's hard drive. They are quite eclectic in their nature. I am thinking I could put up a set of questions for which you write down your answers. After 30mins or so I will put up the answers. DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS. before I post the right answers. You mark your own answers and post your score. I will then record the scores and at the end of the ""lockdown"" we will see who is WHO's brainbox supreme. Obiviously no looking up the answers (you only cheat yourselves) Word of warning these won't be easy questions as they have been devised for teams of six. Forming teams on here might be too problematic. So I'll try to pick out the easier questions. Any interest?"

"Morning easthammer. I'm feeling confident about these ones for a change - just drawing a blank on the mercury symbol at the moment. I have an inkling of where the theme could be going, but too early to know for sure!"

A big 9. No full house due to my good friend Obinze not being called Oggy Ogbonna. Who knew? Not me clearly.

3 - Bloody hell if anyone gets the answers to 8 or 10 they should be given triple points! Not a cricket man but can the field not appeal on a run out?

"Didn't take it as anyone moaning. But it got me thinking about the nature of knowledge. For example, why many quiz shows (indeed in society in general) subjects like Greek Mythology carry greater kudos and feature more readily than say the workings of the combustion engine. Now, which is more relevant? What should we expect people to know? ( Purely rhetorical unless somebody wants to start another thread) Anyway, today's answers are: (And no I didn't know the answer to number ten I just stumbled across it yesterday and I also had to look up number 3!) 1.

Syd Puddefoot 4:07 Wed May 12 Isn't it just. I had Clayton Moore and Clayton Farlow in the back of my mind but then realised Farlow was married to Miss Ellie!

"Certainly not complaining EH, despite my comments concerning young Jonny Johnson, which at least prompted me to look up and enjoy the video. And by the way I got Jay Silverheels. Amazing what lurks around the back of the memory!"

easthammer 12:28 Wed May 12 As soon as you put the answers in I remembered Jay Silverheels but couldn't think of him the first time. Clayton Moore was in the memory bank but not his sidekick!

"Good Morning all, Before I put up the scores I will just comment briefly on the answers Jay Silverheels and Jonny Johnson and the Band Wagon. I found it interesting that a few of you thought nobody could possibly have known the answers when these two were among the answers that I did know! In doing my quizzes sometimes I start with a question and look up the answer other times I have an answer and write the question. For many years in education, I contemplated what constituted knowledge that merited reward or value. I never reached a conclusion. Obviously, the questions here are just trivia, but what constitutes real knowledge? Anyway, enough of the contemplation here are the scores Texas Iron
