Daily Quiz anyone?
"If you are stuck at home and bored like me. How about exercising the old grey cells? I have for a number of years run quiz nights and couple of times a year. I was due to do one tomorrow which is now cancelled So I have a bank of questions sitting in my computer's hard drive. They are quite eclectic in their nature. I am thinking I could put up a set of questions for which you write down your answers. After 30mins or so I will put up the answers. DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS. before I post the right answers. You mark your own answers and post your score. I will then record the scores and at the end of the ""lockdown"" we will see who is WHO's brainbox supreme. Obiviously no looking up the answers (you only cheat yourselves) Word of warning these won't be easy questions as they have been devised for teams of six. Forming teams on here might be too problematic. So I'll try to pick out the easier questions. Any interest?"

"To be fair to anyone who writes questions there is a lot of conflicting info on the internet. It depends when the page has been written, source, etc. It's a thankless task. Anyway, today Famous dates in history. 1. On 1st December 1955 who was arrested for not moving to the back of a bus? 2. On January 3rd 1959 what became the 49th US State? 3. "6 for me today. And with Turps permission, thank you, I will settle for 8 yesterday. PS looking back at my post yesterday it might have seemed a bit critical that was not my intention but just the pedant in me coming out - I know only too well that setting questions isn't easy. And I am grateful to anyone who takes the task on."

Re: Daily Quiz anyone?
"Turpinator sorry but question one is fraught with problems. I have looked at the internet and I think I can see where you have gone to garner the answers. Without going into a long diatribe about trusting the sources o the internet I will just say that: https://www.statista.com/chart/3441/countries-never-invaded-by-britain/ Starts by saying ""Even though the British Empire only managed to establish its first colony in Ireland in 1556"" Given that Great Britain did not come into being until 1707 if Ireland was indeed Colonised in 1556 it was the English what did it! At the other end of the problem, some countries such as Bangladesh which didn't exist until 1971 may have had British boots marching through them ( as India in this case) but there has been no British invasion of that country. If I seem a bit pissed off with the question ( which was interesting to consider if fraught with definitional problems) It is if I include my score according to your answers my poorly scored 8 on the other questions to a minus :)"
Re: Daily Quiz anyone?
Got 2 countries (from 2 guesses. Didnt venture any further as didn't want to incur penalties) democratic Republic of Congo (as its always the answer to country questions) and Luxembourg. 12 (got all the films except sound of music and 2010's) And dispute highest grossing film of 2010s as endgame is 2nd highest grossing film ever and was released in 2019. Avatar had only just retaken the all time crown And today I learned that dastardly and mutley show wasn't called catch the pigeon. I'd have put good money on that. Well I never.
Re: Daily Quiz anyone?
"Well if I scored it right I got minus 8 courtesy of being minus 15 down after the first question!! Assumed it was generally South America we stayed away from and had invaded most islands. Also thought we avoided China, North Korea and Israel. Got it back a bit with the movies although assumed Ben Hur, forgot about ET and was convinced Avengers End Game for 2010's. Thought Russia had longest coast. Won't be putting my score on the results sheet whenever my PC comes back."

"4. Bit busy today and had no time to ruminate over the countries we had not invaded. Fascinating question mind you, bit disappointed that Luxembourg have escaped (so far)."
