Emerson Palmieri - signed
"West Ham United is delighted to announce the signing of Italy international defender Emerson Palmieri. The 28-year-old has joined the Hammers on a four-year contract with a one-year option for an undisclosed fee from fellow Premier League club Chelsea. A pacy and technically proficient left-back or left wing-back renowned for his stamina and attacking qualities, Emerson has won the UEFA European Championship, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League during a stellar career. Born in Brazil, Emerson moved to Italian football in 2014, was granted Italian citizenship and switched international allegiance three years later, and has since won 27 caps, including a start in Italy’s Euro 2020 final victory over England at Wembley a year ago."

Re: Emerson Palmieri - signed
"Fair question GPH. Our approach to transfers this summer has been odd. It's the antithesis of January in the sense that we have signed seven players. But few of them have been our primary targets for their position (not sure about Emerson). That said, some of the ""second choice Steves"" might turn out to be decent players: Scamacca, Emerson, Cornet etc. Guess we'll have to wait and see how they bed in - but you're right to ask why it has all taken so long."

"Would we have signed him if we hadn't lost our first three games? If yes, why didn't we sign him before we lost our first three?"

Re: Emerson Palmieri - signed
"West Ham sign the Italy left-back who started, and won, the European Championship final: and still some on here just dig him - and the club - out. For clarity, he marked Sterling out of much of the final. But I guess he should have joined Bournemouth?! He won’t be perfect, nobody is. But if he plays close to his potential, he’s a good signing."

"Spinazzola is back playing for Roma now, btw, folks. Superb player, but feeling his way back. He was out for almost a year with the Achilles rupture. We’ve signed his Italy back-up, who is a good player. It has cheered me up a tiny bit."

Re: Emerson Palmieri - signed
"onside Didn't know that. I was going to refuse to watch the tournament, but my daughter got interested because it was so bigged up in school and her best friend is Italian, I watched one of the games with Italy and was blown away by him, one of the best players I have seen for years, ridiculously talented and a great athlete, was gutted when he was so badly injured."
Re: Emerson Palmieri - signed
"Chelsea are true enemies of the game. They seem to buy talent to deprive others of it, with little intention of playing the players."

Re: Emerson Palmieri - signed
Has been a Chelsea squad player for a lot of that. Comfy place to be. Understand he played the 90mins of the Euros final and was subbed in extra time. Presumably came up against Sterling and Mount neither of whom had any effect at all as Southgate BALLSED UP the final. SOMEONE should have come in two months ago but we are where we are. Still need more
Re: Emerson Palmieri - signed
Italian international? Seems his playing career doesn’t live up to that. Chelsea dead wood? We will see.

"130 games at 28 years old, he’s either injury prone or shit, or both."
Re: Emerson Palmieri - signed
"Good luck to the fella, bit of an underwhelming signing though. Needed a left back for 3 years then we sign Chelsea’s 4th choice who we could have signed at any point in the last 2 years. Anyhow Moyesy will have him studying Cresswell from the bench."

Re: Emerson Palmieri - signed
He's still a bit raw...Moyes will put him on the bench and tell him to learn his trade from watching Cresswell
Re: Emerson Palmieri - signed
"Two years ago Moyes seemed to prefer playing a 5-3-2 with wing backs, until Masuaku got injured/fell out of favour/form and all of our centre backs decided to get crocked. I wonder if this signing is to give us a wing back option down the left to allow this as an option again."
