Re: XL Bully's to be banned.
"Anyone who owns a dog and thinks XL bullies are the issue, shouldn't own a dog of any type."
Re: XL Bully's to be banned.
"Spot on zeb the poor things struggle to breathe,it shouldn’t be encouraged to own one. Get the right breed they soon become part of family life.I’ve been the proud owner owner of German Shorthaired Pointers my eldest has recently bought a house he can’t wait to to own own they are in my correct opinion the ultimate hound but naiads to be run at least an hour and la a day which fot obvious reasons font suit most. As for looks ,agility,,hunting instincts no other breed comes remotely class."

"Anyone that finbds the need to own one of these things needs their head tested. I’ve had the misfortune to come across these fucking things on two occasions both times their owners are absolute fucking idiots. I have owned three German Shorthaired Pointers fortunately there’s no chance one of these soppy dogs would ever catch one of mine. There’s no denying all dogs need daily exercise mine has loads in fact I’m about to take her on a run now probably be gone a couple of hours. To summarise if you don’t have the time or energy/patience to exercise any dog, don’t own one,all breeds of dogs willl become destructive if not taken proper care of."

norwaytips 3:02 Tue Sep 19 I'd find it surprising if you're able to untrain a champions league killing machine in just 2 weeks. They will always have it in them.
Re: XL Bully's to be banned.
"All dogs have atavistic behaviours. Whether it is circling before pooing/ settling, or rolling in something to mask their own smell from predators. I have an English terrier breed, I've owned him from 8 weeks (He is 4 now), he has a loving home, his parents and grandparents were best of breed at Crufts. He has 1.5 hour walk in the morning (normally Victoria Park or the marshes) One day a week he is at daycare for socialisation and fun. And despite all this, he will try and hunt rats, foxes and squirrels until he passes out and acts like a prick on the lead when he sees a flat faced dog."

Re: XL Bully's to be banned.
"I think all dogs could take a leaf out of our lovable but otherwise totally inept bratchet’s book. Goes mental with joy when I pick up the leash to take her for a walk, throws herself at the door and has to be cuddled and petted into some sort of order before we can go on. Released from the leash on the nearest field, it is her one mission in life to run down any available cat. But she usually spots them far later than I do and they’ve seen her way before either of us. The chase itself involves her burning a lot of calories and never yields any kind of victory. In a few cases, the cat has stood its ground, and then her retreat is equally energetic, this time including a lot of fierce barking. She loves me to bits of course and the house cats just basically take the piss."

Re: XL Bully's to be banned.
"Lee. Very trainable, also means that they can be trained to attack. Mine have all lived with cats and/or other dogs. Never a single problem. I used to volunteer for a rescue centre, retraining difficult digs. Never met a GS, that couldn’t be retrained within two weeks and in over 20 years, not a single reported case of one causing problems."

Re: XL Bully's to be banned.
"Lee, Very true. Our ex police loved people. All people. BUT squared up to any strange dog, all cat, Squirrels and there is no doubt would try to rip them apart if let off the lead. Walks were rural, on a lead at very unsociable time of day and he was only let off in private dog fields at £10 an hour. As far as we were concerned he had saved lives (found a lost young girl) and defended society (Took down a drug dealer brandishing a machete) He deserved a retirement, sadly it was only too brief as he had a heart condition. These Bullys need the same level of care, attention and sacrifice from their owners and if there is any doubt or pushback they need to be removed from the owner with immediate effect."

"Was attacked by a German Shepherd when I was a kid. Police trained one next door. Broke it's lead in the back garden, jumped over their fence and pinned me against the wall of our house. Thankfully mum was around with a broom! Never liked dogs since."

German Shepherds are 3rd on the Fatal Dog Bite Deaths League. Gentlest of creatures? LOL

Re: XL Bully's to be banned.
"Sadly, these sort of dogs are not pets. They are just there, to make the owner look hard, innit! My favourite dogs are German Shepherds. Very trainable and great companions. Had my last one for 12 years. The gentlest of creatures, except the one occasion, when he thought I was being threatened., then he became an alpha wolf. Just now, I have a small cross breed, that I got 11 years ago. I promised a friend that I’d look after it, for a week, while he had an operation. She’s now 16 and thinks she’s 3. I’m too old to get another one and when she goes, I’ll probably foster an older one, from the German Shepherd rescue."

Re: XL Bully's to be banned.
"These are not family dogs, these are not companion dogs, they are not even particularly good guard dogs. They are mean junkyard dogs to keep people the hell away. They have no place in a domestic or social setting I have a Mailinois/Dutch Herder cross, she's sat at my feet now. She was a police training reject: Tracking work Perfect. Pursuit: Yep smaller than a GSD but lightening fast. Bite, hold and detain: Er no. Tried to affectionately lick everyone into submission. So I get a dog that sounds like Satans personal hound when people come to the door or are near the premises when in reality she is sitting behind the dog guard round the corner, wagging her tail waiting to greet them and do zoomies. She is gentle and loving with my 7 month old Grand Daughter, other people and other dogs, loves obedience and agility training and gets me out walking 5 miles a day. In short she's a young, fit, intelligent WORKING Dog. If we did not have the above routine she would quickly become self employed on ripping shit up and become frustrated and aggressive. Dogs are as much Nature vs Nuture as humans but with certain breed you let Nature take hold early and you cannot nuture."

Another thing that needs to banned is adopting street dogs from Romania. There’s plenty of dogs in the U.K that need a home.

Re: XL Bully's to be banned.
I'm sorry but if you want a dog as a pet there's thousands of dogs out there that don't eat people. Anyone who feels they need to own a dog like that you have to question why ??? A responsible owner wouldn't feel the need to own a dog like these

"Unfortunately I think so, it’s like trying to keep a Hyena as a pet. Only a matter of time. Like I said earlier massive powerful wild animals."

Re: XL Bully's to be banned.
"Many moons ago we got a family dog from a rescue place, effing big German shepherd it was. Absolutely the best dog in the world, would like to say he looked the part but generally he had a ball ?üèÄ n his mouth and a wagging tail. Until‚Ķ If any women were in the house he would sit near them and growl if you got to close, my sisters husband would have to sit in a different part of the living room. If anyone approached my mum or sister (from outside the immediate family) you would get a growl . My daughter (3ish at the time) would do kids things and he would circle her if anyone came close. This dog was always a pet and other than basic puppy training had no other guarding or protection training , it just came naturally. Friend had one from a pup, so I knew the dog from 2 months old, by the time it was 3 I couldn‚Äôt say hello to his wife and kiss her on the cheek without him growling. If she wasn‚Äôt about he was a normal GSD, playing and wanting fuss. Personally I‚Äôd love another one , best dogs in the world."
