Cricket World Cup
"Starts on 5 October. Hopefully England can successfully defend the trophy, but it will be tough in Indian conditions. If England fall short, anyone but India or Australia please. I do fear India will 'find a way' to win their home World Cup though, given it's in their backyard and they effectively control the ICC these days."

Re: Cricket World Cup
Cant recall a World Cup with ZERO close games As have mentioned before having one game a day and that being someone knocking up 399 and the other lot not even getting 99 makes for a dull drawn out tournament. Half empty stadiums dont help either I think the 50 over World Cup can survive but it needs to alternate between Australia & England where people want to watch it and the hosts arent cheating pitch fixers to suit themselves Last chance saloon for England today. If they lose I'd withdraw Stokes (1 year contract thanks) and send him off to get his knee sorted ahead of the January Test tour of India.

Re: Cricket World Cup
Another borefest. Team batting first gets 399 in front on one man and his dog. Shit tournament.

Re: Cricket World Cup
"You'd think it difficult to understand how England have hit the down slope quite so quickly. Then again, try this. a) 8/11 players against the Saffers were over 32. b) The combined 11 have played 10x50 over games in the last year. c) Not batting first v the Saffas was a ghastly decision. Heat, heat heat."

Re: Cricket World Cup
"Svender, it's really simple.....when a country outside the commonwealth wins this cricket trophy you can call it a 'World' cup, up until now no one outside the Commonwealth countries has got near to winning it......so it's no better than the Commonwealth games......whoopee fucking doooooooo........gloat., gloat, gloat......same with the Rugby.....I get its great to win it but for fuck sake.....THE WORLD outside our Commonwealth doesn't give a shit......most of these countries are minnow countries except us and India it's why we are the No1 target to beat......in a fucking minor sport......"

Re: Cricket World Cup
"Football .... YES Olympics is running and jumping & DRUGS Tennis ... much more widespread than it was when it was GB USA Australia & France. Thats the sport where an Englishman hasn't won a Grand Slam singles title since F Perry in the 1930's innit? As I mentioned before the US is very insular with its own sports ... NBA NFL MLB China do fuck all, India play cricket and little else Who is the world power that dominates in world wide sports?"

Re: Cricket World Cup
"Just switched it on. Who is that Aussie babe presenting? DING DONG. One thing is for sure after this shambles of a World Cup. India should never be given another World Cup again. If they can't be bothered to turn out for games not involving India then sod them. It does the tournament no favours having most matches played out in front of largely empty stands. The hosting of the World Cup should alternate between England and Australia. The two traditional major cricketing nations with multicultural populations (CHEERS BLAIR), so games involving the Asian teams etc. will be well attended."

Re: Cricket World Cup
De KOCK on for a double century ... well he was. 174 off 140 Said earlier that the tournament needed 2 games a day to get it MOVING ON as it is glacial. Tournament will be decided by India using the old red dirt / black dirt pitch trick on S Africa & NZ who look their only challengers and both will find themselves unprepared on a raging turner Also read its an 'end of an era' for ODI England 2015 ... Complete and utter shit 2019 ... Win on a boundary count back in their 5th home tournament 2023 ... See 2015 Era? HA HA HA

Re: Cricket World Cup
"one of the worst global sporting events in living memory, not a single close or exciting game. Absolute snoozefest. To COYI's point, the 50 over game used to have a bit of ebb & flow, but its now just an elongated version of T20, and frankly a poor relation by comparison."
