Admin assistance required please
"A well known regular WHOer messaged me yesterday to ask if WHO had finally ceased to exist cos he's been unable to connect to it, and only got ""oops, we are unable to find that site"" etc. I told him it was working for me. This morning he sent me this: Tried connecting via Firefox & Edge on PC and Safari on IPad and continue to get a message stating the server can’t be found. Can you ask Admin if they have any ideas please? He's been around long enough to know to try wiping his knob on the screen, so I assume he's already done that."

"Having said a few days ago that I didn't have a problem I am now getting the same as Trundle almost every time. The only reliable way to get in seems to be via Google and the login page, which is a pain in the arse. Anyone got any idea what the cause is?"

Re: Admin assistance required please
I get an error message whenever I try to connect to the site using a mobile signal. It works fine for me when I connect via WiFi. I'm getting: This site can't be reached Check if there is a typo in www.westhamonline.net. DNS_PROBE_FNISHED_NXDOMAIN

I'm all for the setting up of a new site (and the inevitable bitching about who is in charge) but we need to ensure that as the users port across there's no hijacking of existing user names. I'm assuming mods have access to the email address attached to the username so all the existing users could potentially be loaded into a new website with password resets going to the email address held in the database (assuming they can be extracted all at once) Personally I don't think the content of the site would bother the hosting companes too much

"One of the issues to consider is whether a host will take this site on, given it's liberal, non-woke, traditional Estuary English content. I'm all for the setting up of a new site (and the inevitable bitching about who is in charge) but we need to ensure that as the users port across there's no hijacking of existing user names. *switches on WHO PA system* ""Testing...testing...one, two...one, two...Is there a clever person in the house?"""

"For me, the solution is to set up a new address. It's happened before - the move from .com to .net. Keep it in North Bank's hands, get everyone to make a donation to fund the start of the new site, and keep that wanker who's supposed to look after the technical side of things out of it all. At least as far as influencing the site's running is concerned."

"Coffee, Just the performance for me. Last Saturday when I could not log on for about 24 hours, I thought that was it. It gets difficult to read and post on match days (presumably because the server can't handle the traffic). I know the place used to be more jovial and good-humored, but isn't that all of the internet. I know there were also more posters. Moderation is a very fine line, and I think this site does a good job of walking that line while encouraging open discourse. Anything with even a whiff of politics usually gets hijacked, but I'm not sure how much good trying to police it will do."

"kylay (and anyone else), what would make it better? Speed? Content? Appearance? Something else?"
Re: Admin assistance required please
"I don't really want to resist coming on here. There are plenty of cunts and absolutely useless threads, but the match threads alone are worth it even if we are repetitive. I have very few people in my life that follow football enough to talk competently about it, much less West Ham. Been here close to 20 years and probably my most consistent website over that time. It does seem to be on its last legs though. I appreciate the design for its simplicity."

So. Hands up...in the air! In the air!...who lacks the willpower to simply ignore this site or even just a few of the posters who use it.
Re: Admin assistance required please
"I don't think this site is working at all on Safari. Edge is hit and miss. I just tried to post on the match thread and my post disappeared. It was a very insightful post too. In case I can't post anymore, thanks to all my fans for their support over the years. This could be me signing off for the last time. By then. I'll just go. I'm leaving now. That's me gone. Ta ta. Cheerio. ...Okay, I'm going."
