Admin assistance required please
"A well known regular WHOer messaged me yesterday to ask if WHO had finally ceased to exist cos he's been unable to connect to it, and only got ""oops, we are unable to find that site"" etc. I told him it was working for me. This morning he sent me this: Tried connecting via Firefox & Edge on PC and Safari on IPad and continue to get a message stating the server can’t be found. Can you ask Admin if they have any ideas please? He's been around long enough to know to try wiping his knob on the screen, so I assume he's already done that."
Re: Admin assistance required please
"zico, have you tried under the old .net URL? Should work albeit very fucking slowly."
Re: Admin assistance required please
"Been trying to post the quiz for an hour and just getting the messages below, mainly the Error 503 Backend fetch failed one. It's all the time now sadly it seems, and is pretty much unusable."

"It’s a shame because things were getting a lot better on the new .co.uk site. It’s difficult to decipher that error message, but it sounds like the Server needs varnishing!?!"

"Manuel 10:33 Fri Dec 1 Strangely enough, I've been seeing something similar for a few weeks - and before .co.uk went live. Upon loading the site, I'm convinced my WHOMail icon flashes on and off in the blink of an eye but is never there when I focus my attention on where it should be. It may, of course be nothing, but it could suggest that (part of) the problem lies with the size of the site mailbox and not the threads proper database. Up to the grown-ups to sort that one out if it's the case."

Wiil(s) we be able to update the FAQs? What's your favourite crisp? What has this go to do with West Ham? Just a few suggestions. I'm sure there's a couple more

"If I were the site administration, I would certainly have absolutely nothing to do with the poster known as Wlls. He is clearly very dodgy."
Re: Admin assistance required please
"I notice the site is very slow tonight again. Checking the .net verson it was falling over too which is the underlying cause. As no one has access to redirect the .net url to the .co.uk I can't get full control over how much traffic gets through to the .net site. I have a plan though. Someone spoke about creating a new database by crawling the old threads. I had a little proof of concept with this and it seems doable. I'll have a go at migrating the old threads into a fresh DB with the aim of switching over to it. Will take a while though,"

"I've just been reading that Palestine has received the most financial assistance in modern history. More than every African country. More than Europe after WW2. More than Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. More than the likes of Afghanistan, Iraq, or Syria. It's a shame their hatred of JEWS has spunked all that money away to the Hamas leaders in Qatar."

Re: Admin assistance required please
"Wils It was the former. Don't worry, I wouldn't click anything anyway, the site has had enough problems over the years without a cack-handed spazz like me leaning in."
Re: Admin assistance required please
"Thanks for the feedback both. About the centering. That's me trying to update the site's look and eventually make it more usable on phones and tablets. I mentioned before that I don't want to piss anyone off so if it's unpopular I will switch it back to the left align. riosleftsock, Thanks for letting me know that. Important thing here is If you had clicked on that lock thread option it wouldn't have allowed you to do it as you would have needed to be a mod, which I am presuming you aren't. As I am not either I was unaware that mods see the page differently with different options to us non mods and hadn't made allowances for that with the caching. I will switch that level of caching off until I can think of a work around for it. It's tricky enough working out a caching policy for a site with no access but now knowing that there pages with content I can't view has added another layer of complexity :) Which page was the lock option on? Once you clicked on the thread itself and can see all the posts or was it next to the thread as it appeared in the list. If it's the former that's easier to fix,"
