Re: Bobby Charlton RIP
"Football aside the man had class and dignity which seems to be getting rarer these days, rip Bobby"
Re: Bobby Charlton RIP
"Must have been around 1975/6 I saw him play at Brighton when he was player-manager of Preston. By then he had no pace and didn't do anything spectacular but he ran the show with a calm authority and they won 4-0. I feel privileged to have seen him play, along with our own true legends of the game."

Re: Bobby Charlton RIP
"As everyone says, the word “legend” is for once truly appropriate. As much for his qualities as a human being ( humility being the key ) as well as his abilities as a footballer. RIP equally appropriate and he died a truly rich man which is about being a loved member of a family all around him ( not the financial thing as that means nowt in the end). Only Geoff left of the 1966 team now."
Re: Bobby Charlton RIP
We were lucky to have to ultimate legends and gentlemen play for England like the two Bobbies.

Re: Bobby Charlton RIP
RIP Sir Bobby. Had the pleasure of meeting him once. A real gent and with a sense of humour. One of the great names in football.
Re: Bobby Charlton RIP
"Zico. Spot on about the use of the word legend, that word is for players like Sir Bobby not someone who scored a couple of goals."

Met him at Celtic Manor golf course and exchanged a few words. A gent and a humble man. A true legend of the English game. RIP.

"The guy survived a plane crash that saw some of his team mates and friends die and he still had the mentality to go on and play a huge part in winning the League, FA Cup, European Cup & World Cup for club & country. Truly a rare breed."

Re: Bobby Charlton RIP
"Legend is a word used too often these days but it certainly applied to Sir Bobby., To come back from the tragedy that was Munich to have the career he did and to win that European Cup was quite an achievement. One hell of a player. RIP"
Re: Bobby Charlton RIP
"One of the better sights in England internationals back in the day was seeing Bobby Charlton, making a run from midfield his sparse hair flapping in the wind and him letting rip with a cannonball of a shot into the oppo goal. RIP Sir Bobby Charlton"

Re: Bobby Charlton RIP
Unfortunately we knew it was coming after it was announced about 3 years ago he was struggling with Dementia. Only Sir Geoff left now from the 1966 squad and thankfully he still looks and sounds in really good health. RIP a true legend.

Re: Bobby Charlton RIP
"R.I.P Sir Bobby Undoubtably, one of the few British footballers you could call a Legend. So many kids growing up in the late 50's and 60's idolised him along with our Bobby. Perhaps they are catching up on old times now"
