"Premier League clubs have voted against the ban on clubs loaning players from within the same ownership group. It's almost they look to think what the average fan would want, then vote the other way on purpose."

"It will probably disrupt transfer windows for a few years whilst players take the riches on offer. Not all players would be capable of settling in the country so it might mean that players are targeted based on their superstar value and ability to fit in. Don't see it making a lot of difference, the Premier League and Champions league are the big leagues. Saudi teams are in neither."

"I would be absolutely delighted if greedy young players who care more about money than football fucked off to the Saudi league. It would mean all the young, hungry players, preferably homegrown, will stay in this country, and teams will have to focus more on their academies rather than signing average players from abroad who have 'experience' The added bonus being managers like Moyes would be a thing of the past. Bring it on."

With the money they are offering there will always be the temptation for the older players to get a massive pay day to top up their retirement funds. The big test will be the younger players they are signing and how long they stick it out before wanting to come back to a competitive league in Europe. If they all start wanting to leave after a year or two then that will probably make other young reluctant to go over in the future.

"Westside 1:22 I think the difference is likely China's end goal would have been to have their national team win the world cup because that's what they are ultimately all about, and the plan of all the foreigners to the league somehow was a step to that. Saudi have no aspirations of that. They just want to chuck endless money at toys. And it is as someone else mentioned also defintely about 2034."

"Had similar a few years ago, with the Chinese Super League, throwing vast amounts of money at players. Don't hear much about it any more. Covid certainly didn't help it and the the 3 foreigners per team rule, when that was introduced."

"""The fans they attract support players, not teams."" Don't know if it's true but I keep hearing that these days kids in this country are like that as well. Yet another reason for the big clubs to look at creating their own super league that contains all the top players round the world."

The success of the premier league is due to tv deals around the world not full stadia. I was reading that Ronaldo's involvement had garnered huge interest from around the world.

"The fans they attract support players, not teams. So if they manage to keep up chucking enough money at the likes of Ronaldo and Neymar and Henderson (swt) then it'll keep going, I reckon."

I’m not so sure. The people finding it have bottomless pockets so as long as the money is there the players will keep going over for an easy payday. They likely aren’t going to care they are playing in front on no one if it’s for half a million quid a week or whatever it is.
