"We may have won but for large parts of that game we were camped inside our own half with Bowen being 30 yards further up the pitch than anyone else. We still looked slow, lethargic and out of ideas. All I see it as is another game down and another week closer to the departure of the manager who has spent the best part of 400 million to sit camped on the edge of our box hoping to score off scraps against one of the worst away teams in the league in the past decade."

"It was a surprise we won and set pieces saved the day yet again. Agreed, I thought we would lose and we did our best to fuck it up again. Areola is an amazing shotstopper that save similar to the one in Europe last year, but he reminds me of Robert Green, David James or a rabbit in headlights on crosses. I didn't see the game just goal highlights, started listening to commentary at 1-0 towards end of 1st half and it sounded like the usual Moyes defend deep the lead and concede because our defence has proved they are not good enough to play this way and we concede twice. I turned off after that excepting the inevitable. The rest is history we came back and scored another 2 and delighted we won. But it doesn't hide the fact that Moyesball with our defence means we will concede too easily and most likely end up outside European places and the Cups. We will score enough with set pieces to stay in Premier league and Moyes will say he has performed miracles without a striker so expect Sullivan will play safe and Moyes will get a new contract."

"I called a 3-1 win. I also said I wasn’t ready to jump on the Moyes out bandwagon just yet. And am still not ready. I expect us to win our next two games which means we would be 5-1 in November. We beat Arsenal, Olympiacos, Forest and expect us to beat Burnley and TSCBT. 1 loss was to Brentford. I’d say that would be a good November, wouldn’t you? Hardly the type of form you’d sack a manager for."

"Sir Alf, it’s a shame that our performances and results are causing us, at this early stage, to consider how many points do we need for safety. That being the case I reckon the points accumulated by the bottom five teams so far rules any of them out of being on forty points by the season’s end. Looks to me like 35 points will easily ensure safety."

"Weird one that, nice to get a result but the downside is it resets the Moyes clock, so we're stuck with him through this perfect break to sack him. How does a nail biting 3-2 win still feel so pathetically negative and boring? You cant help but wonder where we'd be if there was the foresight to lose Moyes and appoint Dracula Emery who is apparently doing wonders at Villa with a very average side in comparison to ours - Moyes is doing the opposite and turning high quality players into average ones. To play Paqueta out of the left is a fucking crime. I'll take the points but another flat performance and lack of management nous from Moyes. Get rid of the cսnt."

"It was a surprise we won and set pieces saved the day yet again. If we want to keep the ball and play on the proverbial front foot we have got to replace Soucek, Coufal and Zouma. Doesn’t mean they don’t have a role to play in the squad but they cannot start league games Imo. But we need a new manager / coaching set up as well to get the whole team moving, pressing and stretching teams. Beta blocker consumption before each game is likely to become a necessity for the rest of the season with Moyes at the helm, his team selection, set up and tactics Great we got a win. Only 23 points to get so we can relax hopefully before end of season and what I foresee as the inevitable departure of our Scottish dinosaur"

I suspect that one of the main reasons there is a lot of backward/sideways passing these days is because there is no movement further up the pitch where a player is in a position to receive a pass. Fornals offered that option in spades until Moyes drummed it out of him.

"JWP was excellent today. Thought Kudus and Paqueta, despite the excellent finish, had a poor game by their very high standards. IMHO the Antonio/?Ålvarez change was a farce and I am happy for Soucek though still think he would be much better used as a sub. Oh and the bench must include more youngsters."

"Didnt think we could have any complaint in going behind on the hour against a team that looked much more threatening ... and much better than last season Amusing that the Forest fans started singing ... conceded 2 mins later & werent heard from again To be honest from Bowens goal we could have had another 4 and in the end finished about 6-2. Strange game given that as we were frustrating for long periods Soucek's winner was probably about his 10th touch & we just seem to have a lot of square pegs in round holes. Such a need for a proper striker who can hold the ball up & bring the likes of Bowen, Kudus & Paqueta into scoring positions More of the international nonsense then off to Burnley on the 25th"

"After such a good start it was a pretty poor first half from us, slow and plodding mostly, passing sideways and backwards too much. Second half we were still poor at first, but after their equaliser we seemed to go for it in a way I haven't seen for some time and I found myself enjoying it. Would like to see more of that - a lot more."

"Chigwell 7:48 Sun Nov 12 Kudus has an incredible engine, explosive pace, seems strong, works hard and his touch and pace are impressive but he is one footed and out on the right it's obvious to any defender that he is going to cut inside and try to shoot. In the middle I would say he would be crowded out and I don't think he would make a good number 9. As you say Bowen is settled on the right and whilst not perfect he has a better right peg than Kudus. Whereas Cresswell was an overlap type of full back at his best Emerson comes inside a bit more so Kudus on the left using his pace top beat a full back and dragging a cross back to the penalty spot gives us a different dimension going forward rather than having both wide men cutting inside all the time, that's easy to defend. Plus crossing it back to the penalty spot offers chances for an incoming Soucek or Ward Prowse if the cross is low. Bowen isn't a lone striker because a) he sees less of the ball and b) Coufal's crosses are always going to be too high and again you lose the effect Bowen has on the right."

Much needed win. Still the worrying themes of conceding bad goals and relying on set plays.

1964 7:13 You’re correct. In the stadium (picked by sponsors?) it was Coufal. Although he played well I wouldn’t have gone that way with it. Said to my mate I wondered if mrs Coufal was picking it.

"Much better from Areola. Top class shot stopping, in the first half, which is what he is brilliant at, plus he’s obviously been told that anything in the six yard box he has to go for, which he isn’t so good at."

Great to get 3 ... But we lacked real finishing quality... 2 from set pieces...corners.and one from Forest error...Disappointing from Kudus and Paqueta too many lost balls... Zouma looks awkward with the ball... Coufal lost pace... Antonio on earlier would have been good... Happy to win but must get a proper striker to progress...

"1st half drab. 2nd half was a decent watch, good win going into the international break. Zouma looks like his legs are about to snap, strangest running style I’ve seen."
