I must admit I like Alvarez especially the way he steps forward and tries to play positive passes forward to the likes of Paqueta The problem yesterday is that the ball often ended up with Zouma who isnt the best on the ball and is tentative.

The ludicrous thing is that with the ball he lifted onto the bar and the header saved at point blank range that SOUCEK could (and probably should) have had a hat-trick in the last 20 mins If we are going to persist with JWP as our only goal creator then Soucek should probably play centre forward. As a midfielder he is like a training cone

"Id sign their GK and the striker Awomyni (£25Million) in January - both look miles better than what we have in those slots well deserved win - would have been a tragedy if we'd lost or even drawn coufal was deservded MOTM- torrid first half and on a yellow- played really well second half and did all the stuff he does, well This is where we will be all season - between 7- 11, relying on dead balls conversions and letting in 2+ goals a game- every CB combination has been tried- no difference0 how the fuck their ball travels right through our defence with no-one near is a crime Still dont get why JWP ends us as the DM - is it becuase he can apss a ball and alvarez and soucek cant? Really stange position he takes up Other were raving about ALvarez--- have to confess I didnt see it yesterday - does decent mopping up but I though he would bring more to the team than that Ref was so inconsistent yesterday- how did Kudus get booked when he's just been coat-hangered and hacked off the ball?! Would be great to put four ofrfive wins together- fixtures wise its possible, however its west ham.... we';ve been very lucky with injuries---given how many games we play the squad management seems to be working well"

I forgot Soucek was on the pitch until half an hour in. All I can say is did they move his position because if they did more of the same in that position please for the next game.

"Talk about scraping the barrel, twoleftfeet. It was like playing with 10 men with him on the pitch. 13 completed passes in 90 mins for a central midfielder is fucking awful and proves, apart from the goal, he was never in the game."

I see Soucek made Garth Crooks team of the week. Not bad for a waste of space ?üòâ

"Arguably Moyes best signing for years is a bloke who plays in the same position as someone I consider to be our best player. The result is he has to play one or other out of position. He gets a pass because he hasn't bothered to buy a centre forward so it's easy to move Bowen across and drop Antonio. It's also easy to play Pacqueta out wide because when all's said and done, the fact that he's wasted there isn't highlighted because he hasn't really delivered in the 10 role."

"Vexed 10:46 Sun Nov 12 Naturally agree re Emery vs the dour scotch cսnt but not really sure how you can suggest Villa's is a very average squad compared to ours? Not sure they would swap Diaby, Luiz or Kamara for any of our players, their back 4 is collectively better and they obviously have a better keeper and significantly better centre forward"

"Soucek gets some really bad press on this site, but he really delivers when we need it. Can't fault the fella. Coufal was walking a tightrope yesterday and even he kept going. Was a horrible game to watch from a West Ham supporter point of view. But we won and my neighbours were once again pissed off due to my vocal severity. Even my cat went upstairs. She had enough of my shouting extremities at the TV. But 3 points are what it is all about."

"Well I like Soucek, he could of had a hat trick in this game with a little luck, time and again he pops up with a goal, always gives 110% and genuinely seems to care and love all things West Ham, but like Noble some will just cսnt him off for no real reason."
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Nottm Forest - Official Match Thread - Preview
Soucek may not have done much in midfield which I was saying all match but Moyes loves him due to his height and aerial threat not only in set piece attacke but set piece defense as well.

"Felt bored watching this and didn't celebrate any of the goals, but it was a good win against a half decent team and much needed going into the break, had a bit of a six pointer feel about it. I'll credit them for the last 15 mins or so, thought we really stepped it up and were all over them, albeit most of our threats were from set pieces. Cooper slinging on all those subs like they were going out of fashion didn't really work, did it."

"Our best player assisted in the winner and the equaliser. Our worst player today headed the winner and justified Moyes' decision to keep him on when he brought Antonio on and took Alvarez off. (A decision I would have got wrong!) The second half after they took the lead was a better effort, prior to that we again looked a little ponderous in the build-up. Just like Thursday. I don't know why people on here have suggested that we were camped in our own half playing negative Moyes ball. ( Maybe prejudice and prejudgement or maybe they weren't there) I thought we have been trying to be more positive but as yet have stuttered in our attempts. The stats would seem to suggest I am closer to it than some on here would have it. Today we had more possession, more shots, more corners and oh yes more goals than our opponents. We are in the top half of the Prem, top of our group in Europe, in the quarter-finals of the League Cup so I am not that unhappy. Of course, things could always be better but trust me in 67 years of watching I have seen much worse."

Why do the BBC only ever give us a female commentator ?ü§¨
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Nottm Forest - Official Match Thread - Preview
Strange game we just about deserved to win- very much the mirror result of last week. We laboured but we finally killed the post Thursday hoodoo. I think our performance in the second half of the second half saw us home. I thought Robbie Mustoe on NBC summed it up best - we made the least mistakes on the day.

Although Soucek scored and hit the bar. I've never known such a passenger for a central midfielder. 13 passes in 90 minutes.

"I think twofaced thinks we are still at the Boleyn ground getting half the attendance of the likes of Arsenal, as he ALWAYS talks West Ham down…..like we are not fit to lace their boots…."
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Nottm Forest - Official Match Thread - Preview
"I think Coufal gets uneccesary stick on here. I don't think his crossing as bad as people make it, It's more like they look aimless because no one is either busting a gut to get in the box, or we have no one to be in the box because of the way our manager sets us up to play. Zouma looks shot to bits, always looks uncomfortable kicking a ball, and is so slow. I guess the second half looked good on the tele, but so much wrong again. Incredibly coincidental that JWP looked much better when he wasn't being asked to play in our six yard box."
