"Zico - Come on mate, I'd say it's pretty obvious Klopp is going to prioritize the PL over the League Cup, no? I think the question to be asked is can a weakened Liverpool side still beat us at that fortress, and they most likely can, and that's assuming we don't go weak ourselves. We most definitely have a chance though, and it's likely to be a very close game."

There is one slight silver lining. The game is on Wed 20th Dec. Liverpool have Man Utd at home on Sunday 17th and Arsenal at home on Sat 23rd. Depends where Klopps priorities lie.

"Thomas took Lyall to a tribunal because he claimed Lyall called him a cheat where John actually said ""we feel cheated"". Nothing came of it but Thomas claimed they both went out for lunch after the tribunal. If you see pictures from the day Lyall was seething. I'm surprised that Thomas even saw McDermott hand ball it at the other end! Re Hackett there is a video of a discussion with Hackett and Tony Gale on You Tube. Hackett claims they changed the professional foul rule in the week leading up to the final. Galey still looks rightly pissed off all these years later and it's one frosty conversation."

"Southbank, yeah that was a shit decision in the league cup final in 1981. Thankfully (No thanks to Thomas) it didn’t cost us as we went up the other end and got a Penalty to equalise. Before the Liverpool goal the match was petering out to a 0-0 draw and a replay anyway. It was only because Liverpool got the goal that we started pouring forward in the last minute in search of an equaliser. It’s the Keith Hackett decision in 1991 that pisses me off the most."

"Manuel - yep, that's the cսnt! It was a header from Zico in injury time during their 1-1 draw with Sweden in the '78 World Cup. It was a pretty astonishing call - if an Italian had done it, we'd be checking his bank account for payments! Easily the worst referee I've ever seen, and not just because of the Sammy Lee incident (when he basically made up the ""not interfering with play"" rule on the spur of the moment in order to gift Liverpool a goal in the final). He was consistent, Thomas, and is hated the world over. I once uttered his name to a Brazilian fella who started kicking a wall at the mere mention of his name!"

"Clive 'the book' Thomas, a cսnt indeed. Didn't he blow up for full time once during a Brazil game when the ball was on route to goal with the last kick?"

I can't think of West Ham v Liverpool in the league cup (or whatever it's called these days) without conjuring images of that cսnt Clive Thomas. It has proper set me off.

"Actually I’m quite pleased with this draw; if Moyes wants to take the credit for a result, he has to play his strongest side and rely on the players to deliver, and that means letting them play at least at the levels of motivation we saw last night. He won’t get that with his rigid, defensive default mode so whatever the result, the positive is he must cede control to the players and the creative-minded coaches at the club."

If Moyes decides to take the game seriously with a full strength side then we can go through. Do that and you fancy going all the way. All unlikely but you never know!

"Sir Alf, only Leicester have broken the monopoly of the “Big 5” in the past decade in domestic cups (And the Premiership) Aside from that one cup win by them, Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea & Liverpool have won every domestic cup (FA Cup & League Cup) between them over the past 10 years. I think those clubs have started taking the League Cup a bit more seriously in recent years. Even Arsenal yesterday put out a pretty strong side. Remember when Wenger would always put out a team full of kids for this competition? It’s a really shit draw. I think Liverpool have only lost one game at home in 2 years domestically. Anfield is still a fortress."

"Unfortunately you are correct Swindon This is probably the easiest but teams tend to play their strongest side from the quarter final stage :-(. Oh btw, to annoy supporters and pundits etc… I like to refer to them as the “rich 5” as it exposes the fact that the game now is about which “brand” has the most money and who spends it best. :-("

The hardest draw we could have got. Hopefully the players got a bit of confidence from last nights win to take into the Brentford game because that’s now the only benefit of going through after that Quarter final draw. Winning a domestic cup has never been harder for clubs outside the “big 5” and you need a bit of luck with the draws along the way.

"Oh well, Moyes will boast about successive quarter finals we reached. We don’t win at Anfield even when we play well ( which too has been a rarity ) Yes that 0-3 victory , once in 50 years, but statistically it doesn’t even register."

"If we can get the wind back in our sails, we have enough in our team/squad to get something out of this - provided, that is, Moyes sets the side out to it's strengths and not what he thinks it's strengths should be. Whoever gets the winner of Port Vale/Middlesbrough will effectively have a bye into the semis - the odds of both non-Premier teams being drawn against each other must be fairly high."

I was really looking forward to Port Vale away as I’ve never been there. Typical bloody luck having to play away at Liverpool!
