We got our so-called lucky goals because we showed some attacking intent. We capitalised on sloppy play rather as Palace did on Sunday. My enjoyment of the result outdoes my need to seek a lining to this silver cloud. As for the opposition they look to be in trouble in terms of staying in the fight for European football next season. They are the only top EPL team not in Europe but they are failing to take advantage of this opportunity.

Willtell yes you‚Äôre correct the word immobile is not the best. I meant it in context of being so so slow and unable to move is body quickly to move the ball quickly but fair point However the question is whether he is the weak point in a midfield that is trying to get and keep the ball better. I think we agree he is and that a left side solution in midfield will allow Paqueta to play centrally and move Soucek to the bench which is what needs to happen to avoid being dominated most weeks in midfield. Yes we also need another striker as an outlet but until Soucek is not a starter our ability to play out fr?¥m the back thru the middle is compromised Imo / guff / ramblings or whatever you wish to call it in your opinion of course :-)

"Agree, thought our defence was brilliant bar Emerson 1st half. Completly different player in the 2nd. Fabianksi and Soucek both very good defensively. Going forward we were limited and ultimately lucky."

I know it’s never going to happen under Moyes. But just imagine swapping soucek for a decent dribbling midfielder? Look at how Kudus and Paqueta can make space and hold the ball up simply because they can dribble. I often wonder what Kherer could do in souceks position? Could he convert?

"I don't completely disagree with all you say Sir Alf but you do get carried away by all your onw guff. Paqueta is not a LW and should be central. LW needs someone used to opposition full backs tight marking them. I'm sure that's why he isn't on form lately. As for Soucek, he's our 2nd highest goal scorer at the moment. Only a really stupid manager would leave out the 2nd highest goal scorer who happens to be a hard worker and important part of our low block tactics. Soucek is reguklarlt described by you as being immobile. That's absolute bollocks and seriously undermines your authority on the subject. Soucek is very mobile. I can put up with the tactics we employed 2nd half last night at Tottenham but not at home to bloody Palace Everton or Sheffield United. Moyes just doesn't have any other way of playing is the problem as far as I'm concerned. Not by fitting our second highest goal scorer in the team!!"

The back 4 deserve a lot of credit last night. they put in a massive shift. There was Alvarez and Soucek dropping in to create a back 5 depending if ball was left or right side. They were ultimately plugging gaps and denying space - a dirty unsung job. I thought Pacman had a dreadful first half and wasnt that much better in the second half - I thought he should have been brought off in the first half when he went down and the trainer came on. Highlight of the first half for me was when Ward Prowse put a big tackle in wic is what we were severly lacking. We afforded Spurs way too much time on the ball didn't get close enough and had no intensity. Second half was an improvement and I have to say the win is sweet against that lot and the way the media were bigging up Angeball. A win is win even better when its against the Spuds.

Thx Sold :-) Geography not my strongest. But like football you say? Do you reckon a Soucek is a weak point in the team? What’s your insights?

"The biggest problem last night ( there are other issues but this is what stood out imo ) was central midfield. Moving Paqueta to the wide left role might help Emerson but means we struggle to play out from the back and press the opposition in the middle. Spurs totally dominated and Bissouma and Co were unchallenged. It’s the accomodation of Soucek that imo will continue to undermine our ability to get and keep the ball. He works very hard and tracks back and didn’t do much wrong the few times he was involved but his immobility, llack of pace and limited technical ability will continue to severely weaken us in the middle. Nothing will change under Moyes unless forced by an injury to Tommy. Moyes will always favour the low block, sit deep over trying to play out through the lines. Great to beat the NW17 entitled last night but those sit deep tactics will be punished by teams with better finishing. While getting a striker remains a priority, we need a proper long term left sided solution and Paqueta back central and Soucek no longer a starter"

"What I like about Kudus (same with Paq) is that despite his talents he is mixing it up and going to war, you have to in the league or you will fail no matter, like with happened with the big blouse Anderson."

"Wilt of course we should get carried away with the resut, just won at our rivals after an outstanding 2nd half performance. 1st half the free flowing great attacking goal scoring spurs scored 1 from a corner so how about we defended superbly. We shouldve made couple of subs later as midfielders were blowing out their arses after 75mins Cant stand moyes tactics but full praise to him for changing them at ht"

"Typical Moyes first half. Pathetic, limp, how dare we even be on the same pitch as such a footballing giant. It's that attitude why I can't wait till he's gone. Bowen even said in his interview, how shit we are at conceding in the first ten minutes of halves. Did Moyes do something different at half time, that he's never done before? I'll give him the credit for that. It's almost, almost, like if you try to win a football match sometimes there might be a reward there. What a player Bowen is. Emerson had a great game as well. If Kudos sorts out his first touch to keep the ball rather than a silly flick, we could have some player there. I thought Aguerd had a decent game as well, best for some time."

"Let’s not get carried away with this result. I’m delighted we got it at Spurs but a few points worth making. We were shit 1st half. Couldn’t find passes out of defence and penned into our penalty area. The first 10 mins when they scored Amazon put up 10% possession for us. Their goal was a brilliant header from a set piece. I thought Fab was flat footed but on reflection Areola wouldn’t have got it either. We didn’t press as much as we could have and in his interview after the game, Moyes was asked if he had told them to press higher? He said “Yes but not too much because I didn’t want us to let them get a break at us…” Paqueta was worse than he usually has been lately btw. Our 2 goals were gifts from Tottenham’s defence. Their CBS managed by lucky bounces to put Bowen clean through for the first. The second was much the same where the wonderfully named Udogie short passed to his keeper. Bowen challenged and ball ran to JWP who’s shot hit post and came back to him to have another try. I was jumping around celebrating but the two goals were both unrepeatable in any training session. It became clear that Kudus had run out of steam by around 75 mins yet Moyes left him there. No subs were made until the usual Fornals on 87 mins. The point is though that running all the players until they drop twice a week, means we will run out of energy or suffer injuries. For me our two best players were MOM Bowen and Emerson who must currently be the best LB in PL although I haven’t seen them all. Finally, all Moyes faults were on view in spite of the win. Chances are we may have lost that game under an Ange type coach. I don’t mind us defending in depth against the likes of Spurs and hitting them on the break. I do mind when we don’t try to attack teams like Palace…."

"Suspect we are going to see the same on Sunday, try to contain them first half, step up second half? Hardly sustainable, is it, not to mention a gamble, but if it's pretty much the same players every game then as said earlier on another thread it's half understandable."

"Clearly a lovely 3 points, but it is worrying how long it takes for the tactics to be changed, as plans should be in plave for it should happen long before half time. Be people calling Moyes a tactical genius when in reality we could have been 3 down at half time if they were so wasteful and after nicking 2 od the luckiest goals you'll see in a game. Be more positive from the off you scottish fucker, we have some quality players!!!"

"You had to be some kind of pervert to have enjoyed that first half. I'm so used to the way we play, I was completely numb at the half time whistle when I probably should have felt anger. We're not enjoyable to watch, even though the result was thoroughly enjoyable."

"Dont have Amazon so have only seen the goals but sounded like the classic game of two halves Turgid and timid in the first half ... 20-odd % possession and one shot on target and lucky to be still in the game Much more positive on the front foot in the second and on hand to capitalise when it all went SPURSY Perhaps a lesson for the manager Positive attitude, front foot football! I LOVE BEATING THESE CUNTS"
