Straw Poll: Would you sack Moyes if we lose to Forest?

Post Come On You Irons »

That would be four league defeats in a row and five without a win. Would that be enough for you to pull the trigger? YES OR NO.

"Winning that Tin pot trophy was the worst thing that could've happened as far as expectations for this year's league campaign goes.... Lets face it we played no one till we got to the final.. it was like playing all the fa cup rounds against Div 1 teams only to meet Everton in the final... which we doing our best to not participate in until Bowen scored the winner. You can't say he should stay just because he won that trophy and totally disregard the way we have played for the last 2 seasons, the team selections, the way subs are used, his game management or lack of, the disregard for the youth setup which Sullivan is investing more money into each year, throwing away 30+ points a season away by not competing against the top 6, his lack of man management skills calling players out/just not playing them, his inability to see we need a striker and then unable find anyone better than Mikey, round pegs square holes.... DO YOU NEED ANY OTHER REASONS NUTSIN? What's he achieved... yes a 3rd rate euro trophy... yes we all enjoyed it cos we've won absolutely nothing for 40 years we were starved of success, but he very nearly threw that by playing his usual negative tactics... apart from that with the money spent we have underachiever."

"All the league games in between will be a mix of good and bad performances and results. Europa wins getting us out of the group stage are huge. We don’t go through he is as good as gone. If we do go through, which looks probable then: Liverpool away depends on how we play and the end result, pull off an away win and get into the semi’s he will be the golden boy and all is forgotten. Get thumped and he is in trouble. Spurs is always a big game for both teams, get a good result against them and he’ll get cut some slack. Even if we lose to Liverpool."

"Europa, Liverpool away and Spurs performances will be telling. --- Whats the signifcance of Liverpool away and Spurs ? We've got Forrest, Burnley, Palace before Spurs and then Fulham and Wolves before Liverpool. I would say those in between games will tell us more than Spurs and Liverpool."

Should have gone after home loss to Leicester last season. Hasn’t got a scooby do when it comes to in game management. Sullivan is doing potentially serious long term damage to the club by sticking his head in the stand - it can’t be about compensation at this stage . Better players will be looking to get out . Almost certainly no Europe next season- without change now .

"I get the negativity and I am not saying you are wrong when you point out his flaws, but he has gotten a lot right too. I’m not quite where you are yet, I need to see how we fair for the rest of this year, if we go backwards I’d reconsider but for now I’m gonna get behind the manager and team. Europa, Liverpool away and Spurs performances will be telling."

"I don't credit him with anything, he's been very lucky to have been given just short of half a billion pounds yet is still setting up the team like we have a squad full of carthorses, rather than international players. until recently he had our best player out of position, arguably the best african player on the planet stuck on the bench and his pet favourites still starting every game despite never playing well. he gives young players zero access to minutes, so the double winning team of last year will soon be looking elsewhere for different clubs if he continues to hang around"

"Yeah, but they won a trophy and he was the manager, he can’t shoulder all the blame and none of the spoils of victory. If he really is as bad as you say and is responsible for our 20 losses then surely he gets credit for the wins too? Including the big wins."

"nutsin, that's buying in to the nonsense premise that we only won because he was manager. I think we won it despite his negative tactics, and it would have been more convincing with a different manager. you throw out the 'league position' comment like the twenty defeats were irrelavant. unless you've got a collection of the greatest defenders on the planet (we don't) or the best coached/drilled unit (they're not), it's suicidal to continue playing the way we do"

"""Come January we will have more clarity on where we stand."" we heard the same mantra, over and over again last season. ""It will get better after the World Cup"". apart from half a dozen european games, it didn't. It's like some people have had their brains removed and can only remember yesterday"

"‘We all know we are more than a couple of pieces away from competing with the top four, even the top 6.’ We only just fell short twice under Moyes and both times because he has a complete inability to identify and utilize a proper striker. That’s now cost us a world class academy player and captain. Meanwhile Newcastle have managed to get CL with an arguably lesser squad, with first teamers like Schaar, Burn, Lascelles, Longstaff, Almiron, Joelintion and Jacob Murphy. Aston Villa are now pushing for top four using the majority of players Gerrard floundered with. Waiting around to see if Moyes can scrape by again will just prolong his failings and likely lose us more of our few best players, proving we are a two bob outfit with little vision to achieve our potential."

"David, I’ll leave you to the what if nonsense. We all know we are more than a couple of pieces away from competing with the top four, even the top 6. Do I think we need to replace Moyes to kick on and compete with the top 4 yes, of course I do. However I’m not about to run the risk of our entire season to do it. Let’s see where we are at in January. An extra player or two might do us wonders. If we are struggling then get rid. Come January we will have more clarity on where we stand."

I can't believe you've uttered such nonsense nutsin. You're not bothered about the overall downward direction the club is going under Moyes? Say if we're 17th by Christmas- and it could easily happen - will you still not give a fuck as we might still be in a cup and were never going to be top 4? Imbecile.

I see what you are saying Nutsin and then I look at what Newcastle have done with a change of manager and a squad that everyone thought was average…..

"We are not ready to compete with the top 4 and therefor the league position doesn’t bother me too much. At this stage of the game I’m more concerned with the cup games, Now once we are out of all cup tournaments I’d be more open to a change. Until then run with Moyes who knows, we might actually win something again!"

"Russ of the BML 2:05 Totally agree- it's like a vicious cycle. He's the real problem holding us back. Moyes is a symptom. You have to look at what Howe did for Newcastle upon replacing Bruce. Got a lot mor efrom the same bunch of players, essentially. I'll wager the same could happen here with the right man in charge/"

Manuel 2:00 That is probably what will happen. I think the only thing which will remove Moyes before the end of the season is serious danger of not getting out of the UEL group or more likely after the horse has bolted and we're already out. The game on Thursday is probably a lot more pivotal than the Forest game. To add the players are less likely to stay with no European football.

"El Scorchio 1:20 Mon Nov 6 And that's the problem with Sullivan. No long term plan of continuous improvement or, in fact, any care. I mean, look at how low he sets the bar. Basically PL survival. Anything else is a bonus. Between the pair of Sulli and Moyes , they are actually causing the long term clubs success serious harm. Sullivan should jettison Moyes while we still have some decent players. Any more of Moyes tepid and indignant approach to management will see Bowen, Paqueta, Kudus gone."

"El Scorchio 1:20 Mon Nov 6 ''If we lose to Olympiakos and Forest, then yes'' But we won't will we, he always gets results when he needs to, remember last season I think he had three must wins and he won them all, Allardyce was similar. So he will nick a win or two from the next two and on we go. Rinse and repeat."

The fact he didn't leave at the end of last season only goes to show we are dealing with a deluded fool.
