Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"Zico, yes that's right re Leicester, had forgotten about that. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/feb/21/leicester-settlement-football-league-ffp#:~:text=Leicester%20make%20%C2%A33.1m%20settlement%20with%20Football%20League%20over%20FFP%20claim,-This%20article%20is&text=Leicester%20City%20have%20agreed%20to,in%20their%202013%2D14%20season."

I hope Sheffield Utd get some compensation from this... they deserve it.

Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"This may be oversimplifying it but I don't see how one can't be connected to the other. Surely they were spending money on players that they could have spent on the stadium and ergo had they not had that spend as well as what went on the stadium then their books would balance. All the money comes from one pot at the end of the day, so they must have gained a sporting advantage from spending on players instead of the stadium."
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"So if they haven't broken rules to gain a sporting advantage then surely Burnley, Leeds and Leicester haven't got a leg to stand on. Think they have. Regardless of what the penalty has been imposed for, or that no sporting advantage accrued, if the penalty was applied in the seasons, the crime relates to, then a mere 3 point penalty would have relegated Everton not Leeds. Can't see how Leicester have a case, as they finished 2nd bottom, so would have still got relegated. Burnley can argue, if the penalty was applied in 2021/22 (or even a 4 point penalty), Everton would have been relegated, not them. Maybe their action should be against the Premier League, for not making the case happen quicker. Especially Leeds, for last season?"
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"If it were to do with players it would be bizarre considering they finished 17th and 16th last two seasons! Seems it is to do with the new stadium. ""Premier League chiefs have acknowledged the Merseyside club has not broken financial rules to gain a sporting advantage, but they have still been hit with a points penalty"" So if they haven't broken rules to gain a sporting advantage then surely Burnley, Leeds and Leicester haven't got a leg to stand on. Maybe Everton should sue Man City and Chelsea. This could get very messy."

Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"goose 7:01 Exactly. I think it's not a coincidence. At the moment I expect everyone connected to Everton are doing cartwheels that there's basically zero consequences at this point in time. The teams this impacted because of this should get together and go for the jugular, for all the good it will probably do. Everton's cheating has cost them untold millions."

Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"This will be interesting to watch now. This sets a precedent that the big clubs should be worrying about. Man City and Chelsea should be relegated for the repeated charges they have faced over several years. Will never happen though, so any softened judgement on those clubs will benefit Everton’s appeal. Personally id prefer that the people at the clubs be punished more than the club and its fans. I’d have both Man City and Chelsea owners banned from football for life."
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"According to the Daily Mail, Burnley, Leeds and Leicester have confirmed today that they will jointly be suing Everton for £300m This is more than a bit fucked up. If this is true and if they are successful they would wipe Everton off the map which I think is more than a bit cunty. Precedent has been set, with us and Sheffield United, having to pay out £20 million or so. Which we paid. If Everton can't afford to pay out multiply claimants the expression ""if you can't do the time, don't do the crime, "" comes to mind."
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"They basically lied about huge losses saying it was down to covid, about triple what other PL clubs Saudi they'd float during the same period. Man City next please PL sons"

Again, whatever you think of Everton this could quite easily have been us or any other club outside the so called big 6"

Worked out pretty well for Everton. They’ve been caught out but the punishment will fall in a season when there are many shit teams so they’ll stay up. If I were one of the relegated teams last season I’d wanna know why they weren’t punished last year.

The PL have definitely taken into account that it is the weakest season ever in terms of teams battling relegation. It was 12 points being speculated up to today. No doubt Everton will be able to appeal and it will get reduced more to the region of 3 - 6 points.

Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"If/when it happens to City or Chelsea, it'll be similar to this. Something that looks like a massive statement but will have no impact. In City's case no historical revision of any results or trophies/titles and a deduction of just enough that they can still scrape 4th place in the league that season. Chelsea probably similar to Everton- big points deduction but not enough that they go down."

"As long as the deductions for Chelski and Citeh are proportionate (i.e. higher), I'm OK with this."

Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"I don't follow FFP type of stuff closely, so will reserve from giving much of a judgement, but on the face of it seems heavy. Fortunately for them there are at least 3 pub sides in the PL this season, so fancy they will stay up, again."
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"Richy has it spot on. I'm no fan of Everton but this stinks. If I am not mistaken it is to do with their stadium too, not agents and players."
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
This is the best news so far this season and nice early Xmas present for one of the 3 clubs who came up
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
It's funny that you can threaten to form your own league and get next to fuck all for doing it but Everton get penalised a deduction of 10 points for FFP bollocks.
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
This should be deeply concerning for every fan outside the big 6. No matter what your personal thoughts are on Everton they have been done for something the big 6 have been getting away with for years and are still getting away with it. Just read Man City currently have 115 separate ffp breaches being investigated and they have been found guilty of ffp breaches in the past and not one single point deducted. Unless they hit Man City and chelsea with even bigger points deductions the PL is openly admitting corruption by saying it’s one rule for some teams and another rule for others. This could get very interesting!
