Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
If they do have to pay out they will be likely be in the doldrums like we were for many a season to come however long it takes as it’s like a dark cloud hanging over…it also makes it very hard to sign players knowing it’s going to shit….again…we found that out…

SnarestoneIron 9:01 Yes! Or sell more. It should be tough shit if you put yourself in a position where you can’t afford everything you want or are committed to. Manage your finances and make sacrifices. If it means you have to go down as a consequence you have to take your medicine and go down.

Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"This is simply a ""Being seen to be doing something"" outcome - seemingly driven, as someone said earlier, by the Government seeking to bring in an independent regulator. Independent means more difficult to buy off, so cheeks are quivering. It will make absolutely no difference to the table at the end of the season and it just looks severe for the benefit of those who don't understand the game. 20 points, at least, would have been closer to a proper punishment; however, the PL (and the media) still need the Liverpool/Everton ""rivalry"" to keep up brand interest. Plus, as has also already been mentioned, Chelsea and Man City have a lot of skin in this particular game - and wealthy owners to not piss off."
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"I don't get all the misplaced confidence that Everton will avoid relegation. It is also rife on their forum. We were truly awful when they beat us recently, and they are a long way from being a decent team. Add to that the possibility they will have to fire sale a load of players in January if the league has determined the compensation they need to pay to 4 affected clubs. Add to that the very real chance they will go into administration given the parlous state of their finances. Add to that the effect of all this turmoil on the minds of the players and coaching staff. Add to that the psychological boost this will give to the teams around them for the remainder of the season. I just don't get it. Yes, we were truly awful when they played us, but they have still managed 11 points from 11 games, excluding our game, which comfortably avoids relegation in most seasons, let alone one with 3 crap teams, who will struggle to reach 30 points. You don't think Dysche will use this ruling, to play the victim card and fire up his players? Any compo claims, will take ages to come to court and be decided, they won't be shelling out any cash in the short term. In our case with Sheffield United, judgement wasn't awarded until September 2008, the figure not agreed until March 2009. Even then it was paid on the drip over 5 years. So they won't be selling players in January, to finance it."

Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
The truth is that this season the 10 point sanction will amount to very little (other than a few million due to league position). Whereas had it applied in seasons when the offence covered they would have been relegated. Would not relegation have been a more appropriate sanction?
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"Understand FFP is a UEFA thing and this is the Premier leagues sustainability rules. That's how I see it. All the reports, news articles etc, refer to Everton's losses in 2021/22, being x £million over the £105m limit (depending on whose interpretation you believe), but the PSR rules, are a rolling £105m limit over 3 years. Thought that was the basis of PSR, not a one season assessment."

Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"Understand FFP is a UEFA thing and this is the Premier leagues sustainability rules Not a matter of signing up as imagine obeying these rules is a requirement of membership of the Premier league. Yes, rich owners dont like obeying rules and will have expensive lawyers to help them do what they want. Things just need to happen quicker (or at all) with Man City & Chelsea Rather than having losses that put them in breach it appears that their breaches are doing things off the books (Chelsea) and falsifying transactions to hide that they financing the club and earning 'income' illegally (Man City) If a precedent has been set with a penalty of 10 points for overspending by £19m (did I read that right?) then those two should be in for massive penalties. SHOULD"
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
I wonder whether all clubs were signed up to FFP? If they weren't signed up to abide by the rules I don't know see how it can be enforced. Wealthy owners trend to be the kind of people that don't take kindly to being told how they can spend their money... I can't see Chelsea and Manchester City submitting to punishments without going to court or leaving to start another international league. FFP is just bollocks because the only winners are going to be lawyers not football fans.
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"Everton knew the risks of buying more players and knew the possible consequences. Tough shit you didn’t sell players for £xm, learn to run your business properly. The PL had warned them to stop buying players but they ignored the advice."
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
I've just read Silkman say that Everton will almost certainly appeal and win. FFP apparently goes against human rights. If spending what you want is a human right then I hope the Mrs doesn't find out...
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"Everton made a net profit on transfers over the past 3 seasons. Could they have made more? Possibly, if they had bought nobody. One of the ""mitigating factors,"" Everton claim, is that players they thought they were going to transfer (and the funds received would have meant no FFP issues), didn't actually get sold. Would be like us spending the Declan money before he signed for Arsenal, then for Declan to change his mind and say ""sorry, not moving want to stay here for years), leaving us with a huge transfer deficit."

"Agree, you finish where you deserve to finish in the league, was just picking up on the point if they had been handed this deduction last season, but who knows if that was viable anyway."
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
Leeds have only themselves to blame for relegation last season. Just so Sheff U and Wigan in 2007. The blame game only serves to hide their own inadequacies.

Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
Everton should perhaps thank their lucky stars this has been handed down this season! As a 10-point deduction in any other recent season and they would be gone. They may be second bottom now but still only a couple of points from being out of the bottom 3 and looking at the clubs around them they should stay up comfortably.
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"I think Everton are the stalking horses for the City and Chelsea cases. Now they have set precedent its easier to go after the super wealthy who will hire the best of the best to defend themselves. I also think, if found guilty, the FA might wriggle out of a points deduction with massive fines, which the likes of City and Chelsea will just pay."
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
Simon Jordan made a good point when he suggested the PL have possibly done this because of the threat of an Independent Regulator over their shoulder so they are trying to prove that they can keep their house in order.
Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
"Can't see how Leicester have a case, as they finished 2nd bottom, so would have still got relegated. Yeah you said yourself that it’s only on 3 points but they’ve been docked 10 not 3 Yes, my mistake, meant to type Leeds, who wouldn't have a case."

Re: Everton docked 10 point for breaching FFP rules
Any money spent building the new stadium is a capital cost going on the balance sheet Their P&L would contain their operating costs incl excessive wages to shit players. Also if they buy someone for ¬£40m on a 5 year contract ¬£8m a year would be expensed each year Thats how football finances work innit? Overspent on too many overpaid shit players I presume Plus paid the cսnt Lampard more than ¬£5 a week so got done there too
