N Macedonia vs England
Surprised there wasn’t a thread. That was a nailed on penalty. Maguire is absolutely shit.

Re: N Macedonia vs England
We have good players but the quality and depth of our defenders is the worst for a long time. Centre Back & Left Back is a real problem.
Re: N Macedonia vs England
"We will need to improve our defending to win next season’s trophy in Germany. Hopefully Bellingham will be back and let’s hope we don’t start with Grealish, who seems to slow our game up silly shallying out on the left."

Re: N Macedonia vs England
"As Swindon says the great sides of Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain etc are now a distant memory. Not sure about comparing English sides from 2./30 years ago to today's though, if past sides are better than what we have now I can only assume then that the managers then must have been worse than Southgate not to win anything, or is it more a case of the opposition then being better, as a leveller? This is a very good England, no mistake, side and I only see France beating us next summer, although of course anything can always happen over 90 minutes, and maybe Bellingham is the difference next year to winning the thing."
Re: N Macedonia vs England
"Previously England have been blessed with some exceptional talent. The team of Rooney, Scholes, Gerrard etc in particular. However those previous generations had always played in an out dated fashion, their game management wasn't at the level of others. Now it is. The PL leads the way in tactical approach and quality. France aside there isn't a European national squad that can touch England."

Re: N Macedonia vs England
"I would say the standard of teams/countries now compared to 10,20 & 30 years ago is worse but at the same time there are less English players to pick from so we are weaker as well. As mentioned below we probably have 2 World class players in Kane & Bellingham, some very good premiership players like Saka, Rice, Foden & Walker and the rest are either half decent or mediocre. The team with Ashley Cole, Rio, John Terry, Gerrard, Scholes, Lampard, Rooney & Owen was far better. The same in 96 with Seaman, Adams, Pearce, Gazza, Ince, Shearer, Sheringham etc. In that mid to late 90s era we had Shearer, Sheringham, Ian Wright, Robbie Fowler, Andy Cole, Chris Sutton & Les Ferdinand to pick from. All 20 goal a season strikers. Now If Kane got injured we would be screwed."

"zico 2:00 Tue Nov 21 Re: N Macedonia vs England I think England 1990 or 96, even 98 may well have won one of the tournaments in the last few years. Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland and even Brazil and Argentina are a long way off what they once were. Could be said of 2004 and 2006. Portugal have been our fucking nemesis. And 2000 to certain extent. Figo !!!! We will win fuck all under Southgate"

"In terms of World Class players, England have 1, Harry Kane, another one in the making in Bellingham. As age old England problem of flattering to deceive personified by Jack Greilish."

Re: N Macedonia vs England
"lowlife 12:25 Hopefully that 'Trent' shouldn't play in midfield, despite the scousers and various talking heads frothing at the mouth to get the most overrated player of a generation into the England side by any means necessary. Maybe that it would be nice to have the balls to play Foden, Bellingham and Rice as a midfield three, especially in games where we aren't likely to be under a lot of pressure. Maybe that constantly picking Maguire as a finger up to everyone is cutting off his nose to spite his face and it's going to come back and bite us on the arse bigtime after the clumsy fuck got away with what looked like a blatant penalty after he himself had played us into trouble in the first place. Imagine giving some of the youngsters a proper run out so they can get comfortable and have the opportunity to partner Stones going forward.... Maybe that because he's given no other strikers a fair chance in the last few years that we are fucked if Kane gets injured. He won't, though. Maguire and Henderson or 'Trent' will still start. We'll play like cowards and underperform."
Re: N Macedonia vs England
Not sure there have been many wins which were not expected. Maybe Germany in 2021 and Italy away ? Otherwise he has got results most could get .

"I won't be making any judgement after this pointless run out, but why are VAR getting involved in something that was never clear and obvious in a million years, and yes Dion Dublin is a fucking joke, was a shit footballer too. Roll on the Euro's, this week has been a waste of time."
Re: N Macedonia vs England
"As a Welshman, if England were in a WC or EC final, I'd want them to win, as long as they weren't playing Wales, of course. But I do get great enjoyment from the crap performances England roll out time after time. So many talented players, led by men with so little imagination."

Re: N Macedonia vs England
"Selecting players no longer playing in a top league (Henderson), selecting players not getting any game time (Phillips), selecting players because they 'have not let him down previously' (Pickford, Maguire), selecting players and playing them out of position (TAA) ahead of someone playing in that position naturally for their club and who is right up there on the assists tally for the season so far (Ward-Prowse). Genius stuff from the Waistcoat."

Re: N Macedonia vs England
What England manager made international football watchable. Robson in 86 and 90? Venables in 96. Generally since 1966 we've pretty unwatchable and under achieved relentlessly. Southgate may have held on one tournament too long. but we did just qualify easily and beat Italy twice. People do like a moan though. I do agree that you need to go for it a bit more in international competitions though and Southgate doesn't seem to know how to put out a side to do that.
Re: N Macedonia vs England
The problem is for years English football was hammered for not keeping the ball so now in the PL and international level everyone is trying to play tippy tappy football. However unless you are very good at it like Barcelona of 15 odd years ago or Man City now all it produces is a lot of boring possession with no end product.
Re: N Macedonia vs England
When's it on? Is it behind closed doors or something? Not seen anything about it anywhere.

Re: N Macedonia vs England
"Shocking that some of these players have more caps than the likes of Sir Trevor. The problem is it's all so slow, sideways and back. So many chances to cross the ball but they turn back pfaff about and by the time they try and cross it's all too late. Just seem reluctant to take any risks at all."
