"Actually it hardly takes any civil awareness, education or imagination to accept that national health services were in severe danger especially in the pre-vaccine phase of the pandemic. Too much civil awareness, education and imagination in the case of many though, and that, I fear, is the real problem here - populist governments had to bear the brunt of their own electorates’ reaction to do what was necessary; some did, some did not and some just muddled through."

"I thought it was glaringly clear early on it wasn't as bad as people were making out. It's just the gravy train had already left by then. Those that had that view were quickly shut down, though. I don't think you'll have the numbers to do the same thing this time around, Toe knee cot Tea."

"Did what I was told, when I was told to do it, got slightly upset when the contracts for the boys came to light but even them just tutted and got on with it. I didn't ask questions then and I ain't asking questions now. The Sheeple life for me, blissful in my ignorance."

"All the accusations flying about how the government didn't act quick enough, lock down fast enough, protect the vulnerable etc are all now being judged with the benefit of perfect hindsight. No one knew at the time how bad this was or wasn't going to be and governments all over the world were in panic mode as it could have been a global mass killer (turns out it wasn't) But, they are now being judged with the clarity of now knowing exactly what occurred 3 years ago. The fact no governments or indeed anyone knew at the time what the hell this was, how bad it was going to get, how little it affected the majority of the population, how it killed ethnic and old people more easily etc etc etc. Seems a bit 'wokey' scapegoating for the sake of it, as in lets find someone who we can say 'it was all your fault' and you're the sole reason this all happened pin it on them and then crucify them ...(hello Boris!)"

"""where comprehensive national health services were available there was a real danger the system would collapse"" What utter bollocks. The NHS was never close to collapse. The nightingale hospitals were barely used. When you google who was peddling that crap, it turns out to be the BBC and CNN. Surprise, surprise."

"So what was going on is what the normal people have seen: there was an especially nasty strain of corona virus for which there was no vaccine. In the first phase, prior to the vaccine, different national governments reacted in different ways. There was a lot of fear, many sick and vulnerable people started dying and where comprehensive national health services were available there was a real danger the system would collapse. Governments had to borrow vast sums to cover the economic costs of keeping infection rates down by restricting social contact through lockdowns and quarantines, so it became an obvious imperative to develop, test and distribute effective vaccines quickly. Once these came on line and death and infection rates started coming down, and basic immunity started rinsing, it became possible to open up again. Some governments’ responses were better than others - I note the especially poor ones were in the countries run by far right nutjobs of various kinds at the time - Brazil, Russia, US, UK and Ooland spring to mind."

"In a clinical environment clinicians get to decide, along with loved ones, who gets to live and die. The government sets budgets in a socialised healthcare system. This is not even complicated to understand. Meanwhile, from trust the evidence: The US researchers found that: “Rhinovirus emerged as the predominant cause of [Healthcare-associated viral infections] HAVI during the pandemic period. It was the only reported respiratory HAVI in our cohort for an entire year with HAVIs due to all other respiratory viral pathogens virtually eliminated. This finding corresponds with what was observed in the epidemiology of communal viral activity during the [2009 influenza] pandemic, and is widely reflected in both reports of significant increases in hospitalization for respiratory infection secondary to rhinovirus, and in the persistence of rhinovirus/enterovirus detection despite stringent public health measures”. Many treat this RNA agent with contempt, perhaps because no licensed remedies exist. However, rhinovirus is always present and circulating with peaks of up to 35-40% positivity in surveillance, creating epidemics without apparent seasonal patterns. It also likes to coinfect, so it is a menace. Like most respiratory viruses, the illness is mostly mild, but it can cause serious pathologies, especially in those with asthma or chronic obstructive airways disease and also can reinfect people who had recently been infected by a different serotype (there are over 150 rhinovirus serotypes). So, it is the near-perfect proxy for respiratory viruses as targets for preventive physical interventions. Activists tried to obstruct the carrying out of research trials to fill the evidence gaps during the pandemic and partly succeeded in creating a climate of intimidation. However, they would have a difficult time objecting to such a design on ethical grounds as the comparator would be current practice. So if testing bundles is unethical because “blood would be on the hands of testers,” what could they say of current practice: rivers of blood running everywhere? If we are willing to educate ourselves rather than submit to the will of influencers and activists, we may learn some valuable lessons. We could do all sorts of trials with different packages or bundles of measures, and it would probably cost a lot less than the KCs fees for the rest of the Inquiry and infinitely less than the 37 or so billion wasted on mass testing or the equivalent stolen from the exchequer by criminals. It also might educate some folk about science and the progressive accumulation of knowledge. Once again, do write to your MPs, as now is the time."

"There's nothing hindsight about it. Most of us non-normal people wanted to have a sensible discussion about how serious it appeared to be after enough to time asses what was actually going on, and the accolade bestowed upon those of us that were suspect of what the world leaders were imposing, was to be called conspiracy theorists. Turns out us non-normals were right to be suspect about what was going on."

You really didn't need much hindsight to realise early on everything was a bit OTT and became a money spinner for all those involved.

"hindsight is 20/20 nobody really ""knew"" anything. in any serious situation like this, when you don't actually have any facts you proceed with the utmost caution. Hence lockdowns etc.. It's not rocket science. What we did ""know"" (and I said at the time but you all couldn't handle it) was that we elected in a lying bastard to solve 1 problem (Brexit) and lying bastards don't stop being lying bastards when something else comes up (Covid). Haven't read any of the enquiry yet but I would be utterly shocked to read that the people in charge were not all lying incompetent bastards that no one should trust under any circumstances. I think that part was pretty obvious before the whole thing started. oh well.. people still rate them. This country deserves the shit it's in because ultimately we love being made a fool of by these clowns in government dont we?"

"Really not interested in what passes as normal in your cranky social circle, Michael. What I’m interested in is having a normal life and running my affairs in a normal manner - blaming the government or the WEF for Covid just don’t come into it. And no, you don’t get to say what I can tell you or not either."

"I really wish I didn’t have to insult you by calling you both resentful and abnormal, Michael. But that is what you have made yourself - in normal life I’d just shrug my shoulders and talk to someone who isn’t a blithering fool. Here though, it’s the written word and it’s a site that represents the club. So if you want to get together to reinforce the nonsense you believe about how we are all the victims of a global Covid conspiracy, I’m going to call you out on it however abusive you get. Is that clear, Michael?"

"It's an outrage that the Covid Whitewash is still hearing from fuckwits like Valance who insist that we should have locked down earlier and harder. It's as if the colossal amount of damage done by lockdowns never happened. It's as if no analysis of the cost/benefit ratio was ever considered necessary. It's as if the example of no-lockdown Sweden isn't there for all to see. It's as if a massive overreaction to what was essentially no worse than a bad flu year never happened. I never had the vaccine - saw through it all right from the start, but quite a few family and friends relationships suffered for it. What still gets me is that supposedly intelligent people couldn't even begin to spot the Orwellian levels of fear mongering, manipulation, coercion and groupthink. This fucking ridiculous ""Inquiry"" isn't even scratching the surface of all that was wrong at that time."

"Come On You Irons 11:11 Tue Nov 21 What was shocking was how swiftly, and gleefully, a big chunk of the population openly called for ""the unvaccinated"" or anyone questioning the narrative to be locked up, banned from working or otherwise collectively punished. Destroyed any illusion of community in this country. And even if I was 80, whufcroe-sized, with one lung, I'd never have wanted the country shut down or anyone forced into getting injections to ""protect"" me."

"I don't there's many denying it was real, Nutsin. It's just that it wasn't dangerous to 99.7% of the population. Those who were high risk, should have been protected, the rest of us (including those who were shitting their pants over covid who are now the WFH types) should have gone on with our lives as normal. It really was that simple."
