"These infuriating words seem to have gone mainstream. Why?? What's wrong with 'often'? Or 'sometimes'? STOP IT, FFS."

Re: Often times
"Did you see the list of the 25 most hated words that was revealed recently? My friends send emails around asking for dates to meet up for 'Drinkies'. It makes my piss boil. It was 16th on the list but should have been much higher IMHO. Although amazeballs and holibobs were rightly 1st and 2nd. I hate 'reaching out'. ""Hello, Mr Blagg I'm reaching out to you today...."" ""No you're fucking not, you're on the phone - you're speaking to me and you can't do anything else unless you say nothing at all. Which, by the way, suits me down to the ground"""

"Sydney_Iron 9:45 Thu Nov 23 Not offended by it, but it just grates. The question remains: why use it?"

Re: Often times
"Often times is multiplying in it's usage; it's fractionally crossed the dividing line. If you subtract any offense taken, that equals a big plus to take away here. Guess I'd better offer some sort of topology for all and or not that."

Re: Often times
Why the choice of thread icon? Is it because you see Often times an Americanism or another reason I’ve missed. Or are you like the rest of this site often times is and just have poor iconography?
Re: Often times
I'm with you Coffee.... I think you will find that it's one of those wonderful Americanisms. My delightful daughter has started saying 'also' instead of 'as well' which is equally annoying.... whenever she does we say 'we have an injured rabbit also' in an annoying American accent (if you know you know) but she doesn't seem to have taken the hint yet!
