"Correct rios. It also points up how far the standards of our politicians have fallen so quickly. The manner in which he approached the 2008 crash is exemplar that many should follow. He was calm, selfless, efficient and absolutely on top of his brief. Judging by the reactions from people of all parties he was also a lovely man."

"RIP to a decent bloke. I think we would not have been in half as much mess if he had been PM instead one eyed McBroon. I remember about a year after he left politics he did an interview along with his wife, and they came across as such a lovely couple with a decent sense of humour."
