The rest of the season

Post Alfs »

"After tonight's brilliant win, next up is Wolves, and then Liverpool in the League cup. We don't have enough depth though, to challenge for three cups and a top 7 finish. But saying that, if we were to beat Liverpool we'd have a very decent chance of winning it, given the teams left in. Do we play a full strength team v Wolves and the Scousers, and risk knackering the players? Or sacrifice one of those games by playing a weakened team in one of them? And if so, which one?"

Was just a dead leg I understand so hopefully fine for Wolves He had a week off last week and Bowen had 2 weeks off with the international break and the game he missed. Zouma & Emerson have had a break so its probably only Paqueta & Kudus that might be a bit fatigued

If Alvarez doesn't make the Wolves game it will be hard to win and Liverpool will rest some players but have the big guns on the bench if needed.

"Unless a player is struggling I'd go full strength on Sunday Better for me to have another strong team performance and carry that into Liverpool Said earlier this week our two biggest pre Xmas games were wrapping up top spot v Freiburg and knocking the Scousers out One down one to go Win at Anfield and our season gets a turbo boost European football in March (but not Feb) and League cup semis (w/c Jan 8 & Jan 22) AFCON is Jan 13 to Feb 11 so Kudus, Aguerd & Benrahma(?) would miss those semis"

We have to play the strongest team we can. We need top 7 in PL and to hopefully win a cup and Europa. We have to keep going strong and rotate more like Moyes did yesterday. We will lose Kudus and Aguerd in January for AFCON so hopefully we can add one or two players early in the January window...

"Moyes says he doesnt prioritise competitions. However, it feels like the players do. They love Europe for sure. Liverpool will beat us. The league is very challenging as every club can do a job."

"We should go full strength against Wolves and Liverpool! All being equal we should beat Wolves at home, as to Liverpool this talk of should we go full strength or not? Personally, i think it will be...........WILL Liverpool go full strength and i don't think they will, they are well and truly up there in the League so i reckon the Carabao will be pretty low on the list of priorities for Klopp, they will rest a few, so could be an opportunity for us to get one over them??? And dare i say a practice for the Europa final!!!!!!"

"Yea it's a fair question. Moyes said last week that we can't finish top 6, so for me we should be prioritizing the Liverpool game, win that and like you say we have a big chance of winning it and also back in Europe again, albeit the Conference League. We don't need to sacrifice Wolves though, we have a big squad, go a little weak maybe, but not sacrifice, write off."
