England Squad Announcement
FFS ?üö® Gareth Southgate names England squad for Ukraine and Scotland clashes via @Onefootball. Read it here: https://onefootball.com/editorial/38135570?language=en
Re: England Squad Announcement
Pedro - I think that was everyones concern re. JWP before he joined but I think he has shown that he is more than just a free kick / corner merchant in the games so far. I know a Southampton fan who says that he wasn't that effective at corners there but has since put that down to them not having the correct personnel (big CBs) to make the most of his delivery.

Re: England Squad Announcement
They all abandon their 'principles' when money comes into it or it's in their better interests (Principles in inverted commas as those are only usually adopted for the individuals advantage anyway' Southgate Henderson Beckham Joe Lycett (who did that expose on Beckham but had taken Middle East money in the past to perform there) Lineker Neville ANYONE who worked on the 2022 World Cup Principles which people use to help them look like a 'good egg' in the eyes of the British public are shockingly easy cast aside for money. If the Saudis offered that bastion of morality Gary Lineker enough money he'd be over there with his pants down before the ink was dry on his resignation letter to the BBC.
Re: England Squad Announcement
I think ward prowse gets knocked because he can only take free kicks or corners. I think he has shown how important that is. His corners go exactly where he wants I watched the Arsenal game Sunday and Martinelli hit the first man about 6 times and never once got a ball in.
Re: England Squad Announcement
"Be interesting to see if Kane plays in both matches. One of Southgate's biggest failings has been not developing a plan B striker for if Kane is injured or just not firing. Kane's main motivation seems to be breaking every record going and Southgate is happy to give him as much playing time as possible. These games are the perfect opportunity to give Kane a rest and give another striker some international experience, though having said that I think that Ivan Toney will be the long term successor who isn't available atm."

El Scorchio - he is rolling back on that now. His disingenuous confusion over the Henderson questions recently all part of the PR plan in place for him.

"Wouldn't surprise me- easy old job and loads of money, and getting the England manager would be a big coup to the league. He'd be another one like Henderson exposing himself as a massive hypocrite though, with him having also nailed his flag to the mast of various causes while England manager."

I hear Southgate is Saudi bound hence Henderson getting the call. He’s been there a while so perhaps angling for a pay off so he can cash in on the Saudi gravy train

Re: England Squad Announcement
"Agree- it is tough and every manager is probably a bit guilty of it with certain players. Southgate seems far too stubborn with his obvious favourites- Maguire, Mount, (albeit it looks like he may have finally sniffed the coffee on that one) Henderson and persisting with picking them when there's really not a lot to support doing so. (Likewise Phillips) and it feels like he's only too keen to drop others quickly or not give them a fair go when they probably deserve more of a look in. Was guilty of that with Foden for a long time. Maybe the lad from Milan (Tomori) can feel really hard done by as well? Seems very reluctant to try new players in friendlies which isn't helping. Keeps trotting out the players who are all guaranteed starters so it doesn't help build a strong 23 (or 25 now?) man squad. It's time to ditch Henderson and Maguire for example who clearly aren't the future and look to bring in youngsters in those positions to fill the squad and get experience. He does have a lot of really good options all over the pitch now, aside from central defence and you'd have to argue that an English 11 should be able to take it to any other side in world football. Genuinely I think he's the only thing arguably holding us back."

Re: England Squad Announcement
Seems like the England squad has had these issues for a long time now. picking players based on past form and the clubs they represent. Henderson has gone to Saudi to retire so how he gets the nod over any English CM playing in a top league is bizarre. If Bowen or Ward Prowse replicated the form they have shown at a 'big' club they would have made the squad.

"Having to sometimes choose between current form players and sticking to players that have done well for you in the past is a tough one for me, so I can cut some slack for any England manager in that respect, but Southgate has taken it way too far with Maguire now."

Re: England Squad Announcement
On The Ball 11:55 Tue Sep 5 Paul Scholes never let England down. But Southgate wouldn't pick him. All this never let us down crap winds me up. It just shows Southgates own weaknesses as a man and a coach that he has to have these old out of form blokes about just for moral support.

"nychammer 8:20 Tue Sep 5 Absolutely - he loves him because he's never let England down. And we know very well that Southgate doesn't care who you play for - he's picked Rice, Bowen, Antonio, Hart and even Cresswell."

Laughable that Henderson is trying to turn it around and moan that he‚Äôs the one whose feelings are hurt. What a monumental lack of self awareness. Fucking money grabbing morally bankrupt cսnt.

"Stevethehammer 8:27 Sat Sep 2 'Make sure you have enough man utd, Man city players in there as we need to fill Wembley with daytrippers.' Half right, maybe. I don't think Man City actually have any fans, though, do they? Certainly fewer than us and the likes of Villa, Everton or Sunderland, say."

Has the cսnt called up Paul Gascoigne to replace Grealish yet or Gary Neville to replace Alexander Arnold.
Re: England Squad Announcement
I always assumed Henderson was gay. Probably because he looks like the bloke out of the Scissor Sisters. Perhaps he'll come out at some point saying how he was so tormented and it will explain Gareth's softened attitude towards him.

Re: England Squad Announcement
"Stevethehammer 8:27 Sat Sep 2 Pretty much sums it up for me. I find the cսnt nauseating. An absolute bullshitting piece of shit. A bloke more interested in filling diversity quotas and ticking woke boxes than actually winning things. Jumping on almost every fucking social campaign going. Well, that's fucked him because his old mate Hendo has fucked off to Saudi and Southgate doesn't even have the spine to say he's a hypocrite. You know why? Because Southgate himself will end up out there earning stupid money. Already been tapped up and that's he why's defended Hendo as he won't burn bridges. The FA need to fuck this cսnt off pronto. Then he can go to Saudi and I hope he fucking chokes on the dosh he earns."

"Two injuries, but JWP, Bowen, and even Sterling don't get a second thought to replace them. Southgate is one contradictory prick that should hav e left after he got showed up in the Euros. I know I shouldn't care, but I want West Ham players to feel like they can achieve by playing with us. How must it feel to be playing your bollocks off and not even getting a sniff at the squad. Then Rice was an England starter and still wanted out, so what the fuck do I know..."

"I'm glad we dont have any players picked. England national team just turns players into Billy big bollocks who all compare salaries and what they have, causes injuries and mental health issues and instigates poaching of players. We will have players who are fresh and focused on the games ahead. Southgate isnt the worst manager we have had but surely picking players who arent even first choice at their clubs or are playing at poor levels is a kick in the teeth to those who are and who are performing."

Re: England Squad Announcement
"Southgate has been fortunate ... he has been gifted with some excellent players ... Rice Bellingham Foden Kane etc & effectively had a home Euros and a World Cup where England were in the top 6 probably of teams. Said before the last Euros and World Cup that he had 2 tasks given the players he already had; Developing a back up / alternative to Kane Settling on a pair of centre halves Did neither and made some errors that cost England the Euros for sure ... taking Rice off, not having worked on a Kane deputy so had no options when the captain was cooked and of course the penalty taker debacle. Also has painted himself into a corner with the Woke Gareth persona. Has now reverted a bit picking J Henderson (the MURDERER OF GAYS i understand)."
