"The Brighton game was without doubt our most effective over 90 minutes.. But I didn't watch that live. But last night's opening 30 I really enjoyed watching us, we played some lovely easy on the eye stuff, retained the ball well and pressed from the front. We also tried to play through the middle a bit more. It's all down to personal taste I suppose but I found it a much better watch"

"Yea we did play alright for sure, although some on here seem to think not. I thought Brighton was our best performance to date. Yea, the Kudos/Bowen/Paqueta scenario has been discussed a lot and it's tiring now. I don't read too much into a lot of the European games as the oppo isn't often all that, but then again Brighton are struggling, albeit in a tougher group, many thought they would do well. Give Moyes some credit, he seems to have got a good handle on this European stuff."

"Manuel - it has nothing to do with Antonio, and I've only mentioned Bowen down the middle as a plan B when he's not playing or as our only viable alternative. But I don't think it's off the mark at all the first 30 minutes we completely dominated them, scored, hit the post had a good goal disallowed.. While they didn't even get near our area. Tell me when we played better than that then? Has more to do with the midfield three and Paqueta playing in his correct position, oh and Kudus on the wing is a better ball carrier than anyone in our team.. The centre forward wasn't key in it at all."

"fraser - I'll be your number 2 :-) But to say last night was the best we've looked all season is way off the mark. Rarely a day go past where you don't mention about Bowen playing through the middle, most likely another sly dig at Antonio, and I don't think many are convinced about Bowen playing there, even if you are."

"We were very good first half winning the ball high, I think it wasn't till the 30th minute that they came near our box. We of course should have scored more and Paqueta's second should probably have been given. Maybe the PL and all it's money makes most PL teams better than most in Europe other than the elite? Our net spend would absolutely smash theirs no doubt so not that unexpected that we should be better."

"Alfs 3:59 Fri Oct 6 Frieberg are 5th in the Bundesliga. Maybe they are decent and we are actually quite good. Strange for us lot to say, i understand, but maybe we really are far better than we think."

"Manuel 3:08 Fri Oct 6 I agree. And being unbeaten in 17 justifies your opinion. Though last season was a disaster in the Prem, we still finished lower mid table. But now we have a far stronger squad. I'm surprised at how poor these European teams are. Other than the elite few they all seem to be championship level."

"Hold up, Fornals got hooked and Kehra so we made good subs and we now hold a record in Europe that has batted Revie's Dirty Leeds (in '68) and Nicholson's spurs (73?) Into the long grass and commentators talk about our European experience coming to the fore. Am I dreaming or are they talking about West Ham? It is fucking delightful to be West Ham at the moment. Let's stop the negativity for a couple of days and just revel in the spotlight. Personally I have never seen West Ham in such a beautiful position in Europe and I intend to enjoy it."

Vexed 11:42 Thu Oct 5 Fuck me.......I don't disagree with anything you wrote. We had a shocking 30 minute patch where we kept giving the ball away. Got far too deep. What happened to you?

"El Scorchio 11:12 Thu Oct 5 ''I have to say he's using the squad well too between this and the league, unlike past seasons.'' Completely disagree and find that a really strange observation to be honest. Moyes has juggled Europe and the PL very well over the last two seasons. Not sure what you have seen that would suggest otherwise. He's going to play more first teamers in this comp, as it's not full of Hackney Marshes sides like last season."

Is it me or do we always seem to defend deeper coming up to half time and start slow in the second half? It might be my imagination but we seem to regularly concede a goal just before or just after half time. We also seem to be hanging on at the end of a lot of games as well. I’d just love to see us totally dominate a team and win comfortably more often. I think we have players that can do that.

Manchester United went 25 games unbeaten in the Champions League 2007-2009 They did lose to Zenit in the Super Cup in the middle of that run so you could argue both ways as to who holds the record

"Fuckin ell. When will I enjoy a game in this competition? Weird fucking lineup and looked quite good for half an hour but then did our usual after getting a goal up and it was fuckin dire. We were by far the superior team but weird team and tactics made it srressier than it ought to have been. Sad to see Fornals now, he's bloody awful. Bowen aint a centre forward and fuck knows why Kehrer was at fucking left back. Weird subs again, I'm pretty sure Moyes doesn't have a plan at all after they all came on, he did shore us up a bit later with Soucek and Emerson coming on, these were decent changes. Good result but fuck me that was a hard watch. Positives: Kudus looked decent again, Bowen when on the wing, Big Mavro looked solid. Good result against a half decent team."

"Very important win, that. I have to say we've been excellent thus far at navigating the group stages of these tournaments. They were shocking in the first half and maybe we should have capitalised a little more so that there was no way back in to it, but another very professional performance on the whole. I have to say he's using the squad well too between this and the leagie, unlike past seasons."

"A really good win. Any win away to a German side particularly one that finished 5th in the Bundesliga last season is good. Some will pick holes in the standard of some of the opposition we have played in Europe over the past 3 seasons but it’s never as simple as that. As shown last season with Lazio & Villarreal getting knocked out by teams we beat to win the ECL. In recent weeks Villa lost to Rapid Vienna, Brighton lost at home to Panathinaokos, Arsenal lost to Lens & Man Utd lost at home to Galatasaray. All games you would expect the English teams to win. Our consistency in Europe has been outstanding over the past 3 seasons. COYI!"
