January Window

I don't often take notice of the windows, mainly because most of the players linked are paper-talk, ITK nonsense or fan speculation, however, there's lots of talk about unsettled players in the side, so we could see several players move on.

Soler, Fullkrug and Rodriques apparently haven't settled in London so I would imagine they'd be looking to move on. It's more difficult in Fullkrug's case as his injury doesn't seem to have a return date, which is a very typical thing to happen.

Apparently the player signing reigns will be taken out of the hands of Steitden, as the power hungry midget blames him for our failed season so far, not himself for employing someone completely until to manage in the PL, and the focus could be on Championship players. To be a little balanced, we have signed some very good players from the second division and it is a gold mine if you know what you're looking for.

Then there's Paqueta. He's having a stinker of a season and he should be moved on if we can, but I doubt there will be any takers until his case is resolved. Is there a confirmed date for his hearing?

More importantly, what do we need? A striker should be a top priority, even if it's a loan with an option to buy. The Big German might not be back again and Antonio is less a cart-horse and more a Jackass and reliably unreliable. Some pace in midfield to support Alvarez or Soucek and a new goalie. Fabianski as good as he is too old to start and Alfie Tits is shit, in my opinion.

I don't watch a great deal of neutral football anymore, so I'm not offering names, but for the TV scouts, bartsoolers and Football Manager aficionados, who's worth the club pursuing?

Only 2 days before we get our new striker.  I wonder who it'll be?

Thankfully we're not run like a circus anymore and when it became apparent Antonio was out for the season I'd imagine the club when into full force in finding his replacement and got all the finances ready for him to sign on the dotted line at 1 minute past midnight on the 1st of Jan.

I’d give him lots of money. More specifically, the amount it would cost to sack him and pay off his contract.

Crack on !

None of this will happen. Holding pattern until the summer.

That actually made me do an audible chuckle. Ha - well played!

I’d like to see Billy Gilmour and Douglas Luiz join on loan, sort out the engine room.

I watched the game between Pompey vs Fat Franks Coventry last Sat.  Potts was not a stand out tbh and, based on what I saw, is not going to solve the need for “legs”, pace in central midfield but looks a very tidy player. Plays it simple a lot but never gives it away or caught in possession.  Can compete physically and not afraid to get a tackle in and press.  His corner set up one goal too.

A step up to the squad next season seems correct with him coming on for minutes when fresh legs needed.

Not seen much of Earthy who is a not a starter for Bristol City so not sure he would be ready. Perhaps another loan?  Orford looks close but Casey not entirely sure if he’s up to it physically yet? But nit really seen enough of him really. And Marshall, needs more time imo as he’s not Prem quality having only just got himself in the Huddersfield team.

But at least we do now have 4 or 5 possible first teamers in the pipeline. Unlikely they will all make it but if we get even 1 or 2 playing regularly in the first team it will be progress and helps us older fans feel more of a connection to the team.

Yep, during the course of 2025 leading up to next Christmas I think it'll be time to bed in more of our Academy players with Scarles already making the breakthrough. Casey looks to be very close too with Orford not too far behind as well.

With the return of Potts, Marshall and Earthy from their season loans I'm hopeful we could see them introduced to the Squad at some point too being another year down the line in their developments.

Like with everything that's worthwhile having it just needs time and it won't be too long till more have integrated in to the senior set-up.

100% Agree.

We should look at the youth players and see if any of them are ready to cover before making any transfers.

I would actually be happy if we didn't sign anyone, if the plan was to use Scarles, Orford, Casey and others more.  Instead of the likes of Ings, Cresswell, and even maybe Irving?

I'm ok with us signing first team regulars but we should be prioritising as cover for the first team.  We've had so many average, ageing players in the past who have gotten in the way of young players progressing.

Oddly, we don't need to go too mad. If it was me I would be looking for pace in midfield. And, I can't believe I am saying this, we need a striker. Add a goal scorer and some pace to midfield to what we already have and we could have a decent second half of the season.

Sweet! £50M profit and his big wages back works for me. Antonio can drive him there, as he's been next to useless for most of the season so far. I'll even chuck in a couple of stewards stalls as a good will gesture too.. 🪑🪑

That's fine and I'd say to both Clubs £85M or fuck off. 🙂

If I was them I'd actually stump up the asking price too. In the long run he is worth that, but doubt they will.

I think they might.  Both know that class is permanent and he's being played out of position.

Maybe a cheeky bid for Pedro Porro?

Rumours are that he wants out!

It's bollocks trying to start interest and get some offers. Man City don't need him, they need a proper Rodri replacement and better defenders than Rico Lewis.

He won't be leaving in January. No Club will stump up a fee big enough to justify it yet.

Can someone get in touch with Salthouse, Silkman and Mackay to get a list of players we might or not get?
