"We've won 3 league games since the turn of the year, over nearly 4 months, that might have something to do with the lack of unbridled optimism."

Tbf to the doom n gloom merchants I can see the season completely fizzling out and things becoming more and more lethargic especially as we have a manager with no contract who is clearly leaving at the end of the season f the teams below us have particularly tough run ins that may be the only reason we don't see 13th

"That's correct FC,much more sensible prediction I just don't get the worst case scenario by the doom and gloom merchants all the time"

Could go to 13th Joyo. I think 10th is more likely.

Ha ha now someone thinks we will finish 13th...seriously!!!! Think you need to look at upcoming fixtures for some of the teams below us What is it with the constant doom and gloom?

"Make this make sense... https://www.facebook.com/share/v/bqSEtWAvf3bTR2uA/ Jordan like others in the media/ex pros bang on and on how we should accept our lot with Moyes and to be careful for what we wish for and yet in the same breathe come out with this tripe above. Villa these days ain't anything more special than us and yet it's framed (like Newcastle) they deserve to be playing Champions League football because they have everything set up to be one. Sorry, I thought it was us in a 62,500+ Stadium, healthy finances, a crop of excellent players, just won a Cup, not them. Or is it because they actually have a Champions League level manager and we don't..... It's almost like they're lying to themselves and the world when they make out the Villas of thr world are so much better and we ain't. None, not having it..."

Our season is a battle with Brighton & Wolves for 9th/10th/11th.

Im revising my prediction of where we finish from 9th or 10th to 13th. One place better than last season but without any European trophy or qualification. Lost Rice and via a 100 million spend has improved us by one league position ? Great work Moysie. !!!

"We've been in relegation form for the second round of fixtures. Much like we were in relegation form for most of last season. You can't even say nobody could see it coming when we were bothering the top 4 at Christmas, as to any supporter with a working pair of eyes it was clear as day that we were getting away with murder week after week, with heroic goalkeeping and inspired bits of individual genius bucking what all statistical likelyhood suggested. Now that anomaly has resolved itself, we're sitting here with three wins in 2024."

"Villa brought in a better manager and are now in with a great chance of champions league football. That's what winds me up about the ""careful what you wish for"" ex pros/radio mouthpieces. I'd wish to be as good as aston villa - is that asking for the moon?"

How much do we get for finishing 8th? Sullivan will be delighted regardless.

"ATHammer 7:30 Mon Apr 15 Agreed, although this January was much worse. Got rid of three players from an already small squad and acquired a total liability who we're unlikley to see again."

"Renewal time and we're being linked to different players again, few managers names floating about, these owners really do think everyone who goes is a fucking dimwit."

"Football is either a results business or an entertainment industry. Which one is moyes providing at the moment? Fucking neither. We're not winning games and it's fuxking dire. This season with so many trams underperformed it was a real chance to move forward. Yes we're 8th now. But we've relied on individual brilliance and luck in so many games. You can't keep giving other teams chances and expect them not to take them. And for a ""defensive manager"" we have one of the worst goals against in the league. chelsea have 3 games in hand ans right behind us. Everyone knows the squad is shot. Thr parallels to 2 years ago are frightening l. The stubborn cսnt won't learn. As he refuses to accept he needs to."

"It's groundhog day. 2 Seasons ago we had a non-existent January window. Moyes ran a small squad into the ground, we lost the quarter final to Frankfurt, ran out of gas in the league, key player missed a few games but limped into the Europa league. Fast forward thru a season fighting relegation and winning the Europa league. We have had another non-existent January window, have a small squad being run into the ground, most likely going out at the quarter final stage to Leverkusen, had a key player miss a few games and have run out of gas in the league. Sulivan has presided over this Dave ja vu shit show but Moyes has made it unnecessarily worse. Hopefully Steidten can sort it but next year already looks a write off due to the massive rebuild necessary as a result of the Dave's incompetence. I would love Sullivan to go as well but the evident damage done by Moyes should be ended Thursday even if we get the hoped for lightning strike win."

Do you think Fonseca is a Spurs or Arsenal fan?

Re: Moyes Out

"Whilst I'm not sold on Fonseca, I just read this quote""¶ Fonseca explained this in greater detail: ""We have an obligation with supporters to create a spectacle, a good show. That is the obligation of the coach. I want to win every game but just winning is not enough for me. I have to be offensive and dominate the games and have an offensive midfield and show courage in the game. These are things which will die with me. ""It happened so many times when I got home after winning a game and my wife asked ""òwhy are you unhappy?' And it is because I didn't win the way I wanted to. It is not enough. I have to create a good show for the people who pay the tickets and love football. At least I try. I cannot be a coach in another way.""ù"

Man city weren't winning jack shit . Until the Abu Dhabi mob turned up . I honestly can't remember them even reaching a semi final between their fa cup final appearance in 81 . And 08. when they showed up . 5 relegations in that timeframe though . Moyes done brilliantly in the first 2 years after his return. Like all relationships it had it all . Great sex in football terms . Beyond the wild dreams of both parties. A great one nighter on June 7th long after the love had died . And now cannot stand the sight of each other .

"Branded, I reckon if we qualify for the Conference League again, which I wouldn't say is out of reach in the coming years, probably about 5/1? Every Premier League club that qualifies for the Conference should be in with a very real chance of winning it. As Villa are showing, and whoever qualifies for next season will also show."
