I guess we'll see Trunds. Most of the best sporting directors were nothing as players. Oh and classic grassLOLper there.

"goose 8:51 Tue Jan 24 I was a bit sceptical of Noble's appointment originally, but looking at the roles of Sporting Director, then he's probably one of the best people for it. Quite a few others out there are ex-players from the club who have stepped up."

"Rumours are the Noble thing was over recruitment, but they have had a sit down straightforward it out and he remains in post. No doubt been told not to get ideas above his station, and to go check on the U 12s."

Rusta 7:56 Tue Jan 24 Not a falling out but a disagreement. Sullivan and Noble want Moyes to stay in position. Kretinsky thinks Moyes should be sacked. Tend to agree with Kretinsky on this one. Especially since he has wasted 180m of his money to go backwards this season.

"Well I have to say I can't see a good reason for the Noble thread being locked? A lad had a word and posted it Now if the originator had a rep' for taking the piss and it took a 'turn' then ok, but I'm not sure the thread took that direction"

A modern manager or even a successful old school one isn't afraid to appoint an assistant or coach who can challenge some of his ideas to bring the best out of his ability. If you're confident and without an inferiority complex there is nothing to fear... however only about 35% of the human race are like that. It's completely regardless of social class or status. It's no different to office politics - the good eggs are few and far between.

"Moyes, it seems, is perhaps one of those blokes who has lived in a bubble all his life. To be fair, playing football and then staying to manage in the industry is by definition highly likely to cause some myopic thinking. Thing though, and to paraphrase that great sage of our time Donald Rumsfeld, he ""doesn't know what he doesn't know""ù ( the unknown unknowns ) but worse still his closed minded, insecure personality or psychology means he ""doesn't know that he doesn't know what he doesn't know""ù ;-). He must also be suffering with cognitive dissonance or something similar as his words have never match his actions. He gets angry when questioned and in fact doubles down on ""his way""ù just making things worse. In short get a straight jacket and take him home to his family or nearest institution for a psychotic evaluation or delusion therapy ;-). I mean next he'll be telling us Antonio is an accomplished forward and there's no better or that Soucek is only a game away from returning to ""Premiership player of the year "" form"

"Agree. it was after that Leicester game where it made a lot of sense. You could argue three games after the world cup to see if things had improved but that Leeds result probably clouded the thinking. I'm sure if we lost that he'd have been gone, just like I'm sure had we been knocked out of the cup he'd have been gone, likewise had we lost to Everton. It's like we are doing just enough to keep the situation on life support and dragging it out. Which really isn't helping anyone. Losing to Derby might do it. After that I am sure he's safe until we play Forest at home come the end of Feb, unless we get absolutely thrashed by one of Chelsea, Newcastle or spurs in the meantime, it would be the manner of defeat rather than defeat itself in games like those. That said, Chelsea haven't won away in the league since October, so it would be a bad look losing that one."
