Alvarez captains the Mexican national team, has 81 caps and zero red cards. I don't know what happens to him when playing for us. He's a solid dm when he's not losing his head.

Only way out is route 1 over the top to Antonio on the counter.
 

I've had huge respect for (and hated a bit) Alvarez's commitment and leadership well before we were linked with him, from international play.

But he is naturally too slow for this league and still cannot make himself adjust to that.  Honestly a bit like Formals in a lot of his play.

Well I’ve seen enough now. Lopetegui clearly has no idea what he’s doing and is demotivating the players.  There is no evidence of a positive pattern of play being developed. All he seems to do is react to circumstances. It’s not acceptable and if he continues like this he’ll be gone by xmas.

It’s going to be all hands to the pumps from now on. Paqueta has to be moved back alongside Rodriguez; this attempt to use him as a false nine has gone disastrously wrong.
