Re: Moyes Out
"Why do people always bring up John Lyall when discussing the here and now? His stint ended over 30 years ago, the world and the game has moved on. It's such poor chat. Our current manager has been underperforming, unprepared, and has a utterly dysmal record over the last year. It's irrelevant what happened decades ago."
Re: Moyes Out
I'm in no way dissing Lyall merely saying most of the Moyes out mob would not put up with a manager taking us down even if the football was more entertaining
Re: Moyes Out
This cult resembles the overwhelming majority. Moyes has 15 minutes at half time which often sees us produce marginally better 2nd half performances. He's got 2 hours before kick off to get his messages through and we start every game atrociously defensive.

"This is the trouble with you newbies. We served up some shit under Lyall, have you ever heard of John Radford? You have no idea what Moyes says to the players before the game."

Re: Moyes Out
"Keep Dreaming and his "" Moyes out "" cult would have started calling for Lyalls head during the 77 season. However I doubt many of the members of the cult even started supporting West Ham till about 3 years ago. I'm not happy with Moyes but I'm also not happy with the players, 4 attacking players on the field yesterday and all were ineffectual and that's down to them. If I'm on £100k a week I don't need the manager to motivate me it should be down to the individual. My only bug bear really is Downes not playing instead of Soucek and Kehrer in for Coufal. Both baffling."

Re: Moyes Out
"I don't remember lyall ever using five at the back or telling the players to sit deep for the first hour of every game (or until we go behind), why do you moyes fundamentalists keep comparing him to our best ever manager?"
Re: Moyes Out
"As a pro Moyser thus far it is of course getting more difficult to defend him. With every defeat and below par performance my Moysometer edges closer to out than in. I still believe he/we can turn it around. No clue how but it can & does happen. Maybe Nobes rejoining the club will get him in the dressing room and geeing them up. There's so many things wrong at the moment . Goals change games and if we could find the net a bit more often that would change the mentality of both teams in games. Maybe a new signing or 2 will make a difference but as has been said, difficult for the board to trust Moyes & risk shelling out any more money after the big summer outlay and where we find ourselves now. Can't help but wonder how all you Moyes haters would've reacted to when Lyall took us down. Would you have stuck with him ? Doubt it somehow but we regrouped, won the FA Cup, got promoted, reached the League Cup Final etc. And no I'm not for one second suggesting we risk it getting so bad that we get relegated. It's even more unfortunate that the next 3 league games after the WC are Arsenal(flying), Brentford (bogey team) and Leeds (100mph loons), all of which I can see us struggling against. Still Moyes in for now."

Re: Moyes Out
"davey, if we'd spent very little and it was roughly the same squad I'd let it play out but things are different. he's already cost the club tens of millions by not being able to use previous signings (I don't give a fuck if they were his signings), and the same outcome is on the way again with most of the summer arrivals. even the bigger clubs with decent income can't afford to keep losing that sort of money on players because of the manager. that cut & paste from an everton forum summed it up. despite numerous disasters at man utd, sunderland and sociedad, he still refuses to change his ways and this season has doubled down on the negativity. read those words from the everton forum and it's a carbon copy of his current management style üòÇ"

Re: Moyes Out
All this talk from Moyes about fans the having got used to being 6th & 7th and in Europe so should swallow what is a dismal period which we all know has stretched from the back end of 2021 til now. A simple question ..... would any of the teams in the top 6 be resting on their laurels and be telling people that shit form (over 10 months) is ok because 'we were quite good last year'? Thats the talk of losers. Plain and simple
Re: Moyes Out
"Miike I fear the worse. The media don't feel our pain and there are only some rumblings being noted. They are all behind him and won't bang the drum to get rid off him. Moyes keeps repeating in his press conference how lucky we are and what progress has been made. The thing is there is no progress . We are 16th and have been in relegation form for most of 2022. If it was Leeds,B'Mouth or Southampton every game would be called last chance for Moyes. Leeds and B'Mouth have played well in their wins and look more energitic. I can't think for one moment we will ever play at Arsenal or Man City the way Brentford have. I'm depressed to think in 6 weeks we will still have Moyes as manager. 6 long weeks."
Re: Moyes Out
The Chairman lost money in the past with Haller Anderson etc Can they lose £50-40 milion on our recent signings or is the manager worth more?
Re: Moyes Out
"Not strange at all. What was though, back then, was your absolute and life living hatred of Allardyce. The reality is most of us take a balanced view of things and make decisions based on results and performances. Every manager is just a run of defeats away from the sack and that can be regardless of position in the table whereby a team is threatened with relegation or failing to to secure a place in the CL ( Hassenhutl leaving Southampton and Tuchel leaving Chelsea are examples of each case ). Now Our owners are at a decision point and I think that subject to the right man becoming available Moyes will be ditched during this WC 22 interim period. There is no need for gross exaggeration or schoolgirl hysteria just look at our performances and results over the piece, since the beginning of this calendar year, and see that it does not look good and if anything is slowly deteriorating. Something needs to change and in a timely manner for that reason I think that come Boxing Day Moyes will not be at the helm. Our owners were burnt badly by their vacillating over Grant, learned from that, and subsequently ousted Bilic then Pellegrini in good time. I think that for them the bigger risk is standing by Moyes compared to making a change."
Re: Moyes Out
Not sure why they're delaying the inevitable. There is absolutely no way on earth he would ever be able to turn this around (think Sunderland)

Re: Moyes Out
"""I'm not one of these fans who thinks Downes is the messiah."" No one thinks that. That plank Vexed keeps saying this, but no one thinks Downes is the Messiah, just that nearly all of us recognise that he is a much better football player than Soucek. Miles better in every facet, apart from heading. It will make the most of difference to the team, but in truth, it's all too late. He'll do enough to keep us up, imo, and he'll keep his job because of that. But fucking hell, what a chance we've wasted to really move the club forward."
Re: Moyes Out
"What is strange is that there is no passionate defence of Moyes like there was with Allardyce. Perhaps we felt so little of ourselves back then that we were grateful that Big Sam would rescue us. People were so in awe of Allardyce they would, and some still do, defend him to the hilt. Moyes on the other hand is meh to most despite achieving so much more and playing a very slightly nicer brand of football. Writing is on the wall I'm afraid."

Re: Moyes Out
"Patrick Vieira's interview after the Palace game was telling: he expressed genuine surprise that we STILL play so deep at home. It played straight into his hands. And Rodgers - a better coach than Vieira - was watching. IF Moyes stays (he shouldn't) then he has to break up the Rice-Soucek axis in front of the back four and replace one of them (obvious who it should be) with somebody who can pass the ball quickly, and accurately, under the pressure of the high press. Once you show you can do that, teams won't press quite so high and hard. At the moment, we have no way of countering it - so everybody plays us the same way."

Re: Moyes Out
"What's happened with Moyes' West Ham reminds me of when the cricket world discovered, through analysis, that Greame Hick - the supposedly invulnerable run-machine, couldn't bat against the short ball. The chink in his armour was discovered, word got round the sport, everybody played him the same way, and he was never the same batsman because he failed to adjust to new requirements. It's the same with us and the high press. Teams have worked out that we can't play through it and that we invite the problem because we sit so deep - even at home."

Re: Moyes Out
"Flynn Downes above Soucek (if they're playing alongside Rice) every day of the week, thanks. I'm not one of these fans who thinks Downes is the messiah. But he can pass a football, accurately, quickly, and without his brain and feet appearing to go into meltdown. I like Soucek - but ALL of his best work is done off the ball. On it, alongside Rice in deep midfield, he's a liability because he's technically poor and clueless against the high press. And this sums up Moyes' sides. Without the ball, we're quite well organised and hard-working. With it, we are an enforced level of clueless because Moyes, Nolan, McKinlay et al can't coach passing or creativity. Think about them, and how they all were as players. Everything about them is physicality, structure and organisation. But we need both sides of the game in the modern premier league. Teams have moved up a level, tactically - and in terms of preparation/analysis - in recent years. We're still plodding along with 20th Century football in the 21st Century. It worked for a while, because we have hard-working players. But we/Moyes has been found out and there's no Plan B."
