Re: Moyes Out
That's a bit rich from Moyes considering he couldn't be bothered to learn Spanish or even a few words of basic courtesy in the Basque language when he was at Real Sociedad.

Re: Moyes Out
Did I read that right? A scotsman criticising someone else because they can't speak good enough English?
Re: Moyes Out
"Moyes is right Benny should speak decent English after 4 years. He had a good game, but it was Bournemouth and his final pass or finish is not good enough. Up against better opposition he either goes missing, loses possession when trying to dribble past or plays a stray pass. His finishing is very poor. Show pony. Looks good on the ball but rarely any end product. Frustrating player given enough time now, no excuses, if he hasn't made it now never will imho, get rid in summer if anyone interested."
Re: Moyes Out
"Far from a Benrahma fan but that's harsh on him, seems like a personal agenda. Maybe Said could fulfil his potential if his manager showed some belief in him, put his arm round him and have the boy some confidence. No need to dig him out about his English. Some man management is needed."

Re: Moyes Out
"He's been here 4 years, and he can't speak good enough English? Moyes can't speak about Benrahma without having to insert up front a load of bullshit disclaimers. To be negatively commenting on his ability to speak English seems a bit of a stretch, Paqueta can't speak English and Lanzini isn't all that great either."

Re: Moyes Out
Does seem to have a bit of a hard on for benrahma he's been one of our best players this year. Can be frustrating with end product but cannot understand the constant digging him out. Great way to get a player on side ain't it.
Re: Moyes Out
"I've just seen Moyes' latest press conference, in which he has a dig at Benrahma for not speaking the English too good. Seemed really unnecessary to single him out and it's yet another case where it looks like he's got something against him. This is the full quote, after Moyes was asked if he insists on the foreign players learning English: ""I went to Spain and I tried to take Spanish lessons and I couldn't speak Spanish in a year. I tried my nuts off to speak Spanish, I really did and if I got another year, I might have got better, I would have definitely been speaking it if I got another year at it. I'm not maybe one to comment on them, because I didn't do it. ""Said's (Benrahma) English for the amount of time he's been here has not been great, but I've got to say, Nayef, brilliant English, Gianluca, brilliant English, Emerson, fantastic English. Strangely enough, Paqueta can't speak it but I think he understands it and he's doing really and I think he already speaks about three or four languages, so it might be something I hope he can pick up quickly."""

Re: Moyes Out
"An identity crisis is exactly what it is. I said a few weeks ago with our press (or lack of). Can't recall the game but we had a few players pressing which then easily gets by-passed as that player is not backed up by the deeper players who are sitting too deep. So my question was are we a pressing side or not. Some of the players are doing it and some aren't. So what are the managers instructions. If forward players press and those behind them don't then they are just wasting their energy. We have some players pressing and others not. So what the fuck are we doing? I also think it's the same for offensive play. Are we a possession based team? Stats would say we aren't, but of we aren't why are we not playing the players and formation to play on the break? As you say, its all just a bit of a hodge-podge right now and Moyes lack of leadership in our style and formation is costing us."
Re: Moyes Out
"I am hopeful that Spurs get replaced by the Barcodes in the rich 6. Spurs are like us ironically in the way they play. The difference obviously being Son and Kane and hence their ability to take chances being so much better. IMHO we have to have better players technically than Soucek in midfield, start playing Fornals, Downes, Paqueta even Benrahma in the positions they historically played in and made their name. We also need proper or better wing backs and another striker. We are 2 transfer windows and least away from fixing the squad deficiencies and that probably includes replacement for Rice and CBs. On top of that we need the manager to speed up the evolution in the way we play. I can very recently see we are starting to try to play better in possession with the selection of Downes in midfield and Scamacca up top meaning less of the long punt into the channels etc bypassing midfield. But it's really not a full commitment to that system of play. The question for me ( my opinion or speculation) is one of the proverbial ""chicken and egg""ù. Is it that we don't have all the players needed to effectively play the possession based game ( so Moyes sticks mostly with what he has done previously ) or are we playing some players and/or in roles that mean it doesn't really work or happen? Possible it's a bit of both but it feels like the disjointed games this season and odd spells where we click are suggesting we are stuck between the old counter attack of the last 2 years and trying to be more of a possession/ front foot team. A bit of ""hodge porge""ù mess in other words? West Ham in an identity crisis :-)"
Re: Moyes Out
"Yeah, them and us are probably the best of the rest, at least in squad terms, and all are well behind the top teams. I expect 8th place will end up finishing quite a few points behind 7th."

Re: Moyes Out
"Agree, there are at least 8 more teams who are good at chasing down the win rather than sitting back hoping for a win""¶.."
Re: Moyes Out
"I don't see us finishing above 8th either. On the other hand I'd be surprised if we finished below 10th. As dull as we are to watch, our squad is better than all the others outside that top 7 and Moyes will probably be able to grind out the results to keep us in the top half."

Re: Moyes Out
"I don't see us finishing above 8th, so no Europe via the league. It will be the same top 6 as last term and Newcastle, we are probably favourites for 8th. I fancy we will bring two in in January too."
Re: Moyes Out
"I don't particularly like Moyes. He has some odd ways of behaving, doesn't make useful substitutions and picks out of form favourites. We all know that but here we are mid table after having been robbed of 4 points by bad refereeing and crazy VAR decisions. It is highly possible that we will end up in Europe next season again. GSBK are never going to fire him unless he really does turn into relegation shit. It would cost them millions and would they find someone more effective? Are we now so spoilt by relative success for the first time in my life of support, that we can't see what should be staring us in the face? Moyes is here at least to the end of his contract."
Re: Moyes Out
"With a game 8n 3 days, and another 3 days after that, and comfortably leading (but not playing well at all), does it make sense to make only 1 sub until the 87th minute?"
Re: Moyes Out
the squad is a squad this manager cannot get the best from. defence based logic. relegation avoidance mentality that this old manager cannot shake. the squad is much bigger and better than this manager. look just how non creative and defence based we will be this weekend. this is the reason we lost at a poor liverpool. i think it's time. time for change.

Re: Moyes Out
"A win is a win. And a big move up the table. Happy days. But Moyes is still not doing much to convince me that he has things under control. There were times last night when it was just dour. We dominated the ball well and created space to create chances but final third was pretty pedestrian. Again Benrahma was our best offensive player but he will, no doubt, get slaughtered by Moyes for not being clinical enough when the same old faces get by on 5/10 performances without so much as a mention by Dave. Have we actually played well for 90 minutes this season?"

"Big wake up call tomorrow, we need to start putting away our chances and playing the in form players. No Fornals esp please. We've been far too kind to the opposition this season."

Re: Moyes Out
Tomorrow is test. A team we should be beating at home. Too many dropped already. Needs to set us up to win from the start. We must win no excuses!
