Yeah mate. According to the media. We should be grateful for our position. And we all know Spurs are punching above their weight.!

We smashed Leicester and got nothing so this dull performance evens it out.
The past few games  Soucek has not been subbed that with all the subs being used in games,he's got someone at the club by the balls.

Once Fabianski went off along with Kilman our rhythm was understandably fucked but we still got the win avoiding the 'managerial bounce'.

Undefeated in 4 now, not conceding many like we once were, 6 points off 6th and no relegation dogfight in sight.

Pleased with three points but shithousing our way to a win against the club sitting rank bottom on 5 points doesn’t inspire me in the way it obviously does you

Can't see Wolves picking up 10 more points than us in the 2nd half of the season, so Sullivan will already be seeing his business plan as "fully met" (= no spend in January).

Bet he's praying for Villa to turn us over in the cup though, just to save him hiring the team bus for the next round.

Everything you say is true, but football is meant to be entertaining and this is not. We are a very fortunate side at times, never more so than today. Nothing much has changed since Moyes departed. Depressing performances, flattering to deceive, pulling rabbits out of hats results wise to cover what are real problems. I think given the money we spent we could have done so much better, but time again gaps in the squad go unaddressed or we buy the wrong players and unless things change substantially on and off the pitch then where we are now is the best we can hope for this season IMHO. The Jan window will tell us much because I think we HAVE to be in the market.

5 subs + the concussion sub. So 6 in all, for both teams.

And one of the subs was made at half time so you don't use up a 'substitution moment' for that one, which meant we could still make 3 intra-game changes plus Fabianski

A welcome three points, away from danger.

But in 18 league games, plus two cup games this season,  I don’t think we have looked convincing once. Liverpool next could be really painful. Yes, you never know, but I just can’t see anything other than a defeat and at least three goals conceded. We just look so disjointed and lacking any plan.

Lopetegui is definitely turning into Moyes the sort of rubbish performance and lucky victory we got last season...

Still mustn't grumble respect the 3 points.... 🤣

Always good to win but another “smash and grab”. Southampton had enough chances to be coasting.

MOTM as he is most weeks was AWB. Best player we have bought in years.

Alvarez did well. Bowen worked hard and got a poachers goal so no complaints but should pass more when in the final third.

Todibo got better and was very good in possession and making blocks and tackles. His weakness is the air. Summerville added a spark with his pace.

The rest? They kept going but little quality. Kudus was awful today imo.

Another 17 points to safety.  We are still a team that has a strange mix of tactics and only tend to score via a transition or counter. So not changed in that sense to when we played under Moyes. We do keep it better and not just aimless punts to clear our lines but we aint gonna be beating the press of yeams trying to pass our way thru.  A couple of athletic midfielders and pacy striker still needed.

But we got 3 points so the malaise continues.

Positives
1. 13th and on same points as Spurs
2. 5 points clear of the relegation pack
3. Above Man Utd

Another north western referee. The people who appoint these idiots are not up to the standard for a major national league. They seem to think they are casting for Wallace and Gromit with the amount of pie eating clog wearing tossers they appoint. The prick today comes from Wigan (but not West Wallaby Street) and his decision to flash his red card was ridiculous for something that should never have been called a foul. When he was called out by VAR he still gave a yellow card to save face. He also called a yellow for a deliberate assault on Fabianski.

Fab was a concussion sub, meaning that both teams get an extra substitution option.

fucking hell that was drab. We'll take the win of course, but did we deserve it? - NO, was it a decent performance? - NO. Is it entertaining? - NO

There almost isn't enough paper to cover the cracks in this squad. I know moaning when you win is not the done thing, but like under Moyes, these paper over the crack results will just cement Loppy's position here in Sullivan's eyes and I really don't know where we go from here.
