Just as an aside, for me it was a myth it was just down to Payet. Bilic got that Team purring in that Boleyn season all over the park. We beat most of the 'big' Teams and in style, competing against anyone in the League and FA Cup.
Following season with Payet up to the January window we struggled and looked poor and only improved again once he was sold. Putting down to Payet is a real disservice to how Bilic managed the Team in the domestic Cups and League.

Bilic would be classic Sullivan...as he was last time when he 'listened to the fans'. The heats on, so do something that will be almost universally loved. It's cheap, a guy who 'needs this' and so would see the Club as an opportunity not a poisoned chalice, and lets him state he's 'listening and doing something the fans like'.
In fairness to Bilic, I loved the time he was manager despite the poor ending. He's clearly a smart guy who has genuine affection for the club. But so much of what was good was down to him having Payet...in fairness he wasn't well supported beyond that first window when we wanted Lanzini and Payet, although did get backed with Zabaleta, Arnautovic and Chicharito...but of course didn't get the final piece of his 'puzzle' in Carvalho.
If you offered me Bilic over Potter...all day long (and blah blah blah). Do I think he guarantees we stay up....nope. But I'd like to see him back, we have a decent squad to play 'his way' and he is a move towards a team philosophy that empowers mavericks to 'do their thing' which is the kind of football I like to see.
He generally favours a fairly simple 4-2-3-1, with 3 flair players behind the striker and two deep laying mids who offer protection and some playmaking.
Basically, I suspect we'd see the formation and team the fans would like to see:
Fabianski/Areola
Wan Bissaka Mavropanos Kilman Diouf
Magassa Fernandes
Bowen Paqueta Summerville
Fullkrug
So whilst he's not likely to take us to the promised land...I'd still welcome him back, and doubt he could do worse than the incumbent. Would like to think he might select a slightly less motley crue of support acts next time though to come with him.
Potter could have most of us satisfied, if not happy, just by doing that now. Crazy that we would need to fire and hire to make it happen.

After not bothering to contact Jose I understand that this club will always strive to appoint the worst possible person they can find out of a set of available options. It’s just what they do. It will never be the obvious choice. It will always be a somewhat perverse decision that only they could justify in their heads. It’s what they enjoy.
so Nuno is out of the question because it’s just too sensible a choice for them.
I think it has to be someone who has in the past had success but is clearly not wanted by any other club for pretty obvious reasons. Sullivan likes a sort of “fixer upper”, I feel like he wants to say I saw the potential when others didn’t. And it has to be a yes man. Someone that will never embarrass him. And obviously out of work.
Nah it will 100% be Nuno if he's still out of work if/when Potter goes. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Sullivan has already said to him 'Just hold on until Sunday.'
Bilic eh? Sullivan strikes again lol!
I really can't see it- just purely from the way it ended last time. I think Sullivan is chucking it out there like he does with feelers for signing players and to just try and placate people. I'd be shocked if Bilic rocks up again. Both got burnt by the other first time round. Bilic got sacked for insubordination as much as anything else. Seems that embarrassing Sullivan is a far worse crime than losing football matches.

Some proper funny stuff on the 90 year old fitness coach Bilic used to employ.
No coincidence that we were bottom of all the fitness/running stats when he finally got pumped.
I loved it he was here, but we need to move on.

No matter who you bring in as the manager, certain players are just not up to the job (i.e. JWP - aka 'Crabman' / 'Mr Sideways', the CB's and the T-Rex in goal).

Madness we're even discussing Bilic.
It's just a desperate punt because they think it might placate fans.

I would be happy with 7th place and a good run in the FA Cup. Maybe even some decent football for a change along the way!
Bilic also says hi!
The first season under Bilic was brilliant....the West Ham way and we should have won the FA Cup! still can't work out what happened the following season we turned to dog shit....ain't that the West Way too! Maybe it was the shenanigan's with Payet and his old woman or the move to the Hotpoint!
It had everything to do with a monumental controversial Stadium move which the ill prepared Stadium was a lot worse than it is now, as well as Payet causing a right nuisance for him at such a critical time and the Club regarding the missus.
Any manager would have struggled to deal with all that and yet Bilic was expected to work miracles, even though he just produced 1 of the most entertaining seasons in ages at the time.
We struggled as a Team that first half a season whilst babying Payet at the Club and as soon as he was sold in January everything started to calm down and we got going again finishing the season respectably 11th in midtable.
He was also badly hamstrung with a shocking summer transfer window when we first moved in courting the likes of Bacca but ended up with super duds like Zaza and Calleri instead for fuck sake. The transfer business was compounded further when the following Summer Sullivan proper fucked up key Bilic target DM Willie Carvalho which would have made a hell of a difference to laying proper foundations in our Team going forward in the new Stadium. Sacked in the end after losing to Liverpool 17th in the League the beginning of November after everything he achieved well whilst managing a Stadium move from hell. Even though we had just beaten Spurs Away at Wembley to reach the League Cup Quarters facing Arsenal, only for Moyes to fuck up.
The European stints were on him which he has to own but again, in the context of everything he had to also manage, something was going to have to give and those fuck ups were what happened which he has to own.

It sounds bonkers that he would come back / be offered the job. I can only recall him being the boss over at West Brom after us. Other than that, I've no idea what he has been up to.
Bilic would get that defence sorted that's for certain.
He was lost after the final season at Upton Park and he’s failed wherever he’s been since us, including WBA and Watford.
Our first season at the London Stadium he was given shite to work with after a successful season with Payet and Lanzini in the form of Tore, Nordtveit, Zaza and Ayew. Retrospectively we can see the board has zero ambition from the very start at the London Stadium, but many of us knew that already.
At least he cares and will drop with some fight and passion.

I don't think Nuno is the second coming, but the man got Wolves promoted, finished 7th in the Premier League two seasons on the spin after that, kept Forest up when they looked doomed, and finished 7th (1 point behind 5th place) the season after.
He's bang average, yet you think Championship mid table then sacked Michael Carrick is a good option?
That is some serious gymnastics. Fucking hell.

He had 3 pension pot top ups in Saudi Arabia and China, went to West Brom after us and got them promoted to the Premier League and the other job was Watford where he didn't pull up any trees but didn't disgrace himself either. Other caveat to that is he had to work at a Club that sacks managers nearly every other month, 'Duckers' (yes that slimey reptile we had). Think that just about covers it.
Nothing amazing, nothing horrific, just gently plodding along still wondering why he got the boot in a WHU job he loved, whilst having to put up with so much turmoil on and off the pitch be it Payet kicking off "acting a dickhead" to push through his move 1st season in the Shithole. That as well as the hell hole itself that needed so much work having just move in. It turned in to an impossible job and GSBs expectations as previously stated today was unrealistically through the leaky Olympic Stadium roof.

Nothing against him personally, but if Nuno is our “only hope” now that Mourinho is going to Benfica (and he might be in the eyes of Sullivan), then it goes to show how fucked we are.
He’s a bang average manager. But that seems to be our absolute ceiling as a club under this board.
Make no mistake about it, Nuno (and others on the market: it’s not just him) is just another short-term manager who’d be coming through the revolving door.
How ridiculous is it that our fans dream of the day that the club goes out and actively headhunts a manager who is under contract and doing well elsewhere?!
Sullivan has conditioned everybody into thinking that the pool of management “talent” is whoever is on the sausage at any given time.

Shut up Goose, you'd love it.
Cheering him on sporting his new delicately pruned hairplug transplant whilst he flashes his cheeky Balkan grin as he struggles to limp bow-legged to the edge of the touchline with that unmistakable painful gait of his just as he turns to give Sullivan the dirtiest crossed arms salute in the air much to the amusement of a packed sell out crowd would be a sight to behold.
An Uber driver will have to collect Potter from the foyer though, or maybe just give him a couple of quid to jump on a Boris bike to ride home on. He'd probably suggest it himself.
