Currently going to a lot of soul, R&B and Mod events, so it's authentic R&B all the way for me at the moment - not that sickly shite that masquerades as modern R&B:
  • Ike Turner & His Kings of Rhythm - The New Breed Pts 1&2 - Sue
  • John Lee Hooker - Onions - Stateside
  • Dorothy Williams - Watchdog - Volt
  • Lula Reed - Puddentane - Federal
  • Lavern Baker - You'd Better Find Yourself Another Fool - Atlantic
  • Smokey Smothers - I Got My Eyes On You - Gamma
  • Willie Wright & His Sparklers - Gibble Gobble - Federal
  • The Tren-Teens - Your Yah-Yah Is Gone - Carnival
  • Mike Pedecin - Burnt Toast & Black Coffee - Federal
  • Bobby Bland - 36-22-36 - Vocalion
  • The Orlons - Don't You Want My Lovin' - Cameo
  • Gene Allison - Now That We're Together - Cherokee
Returning to the mighty Federal R&B club in Crewe for their next all-dayer on November 16th for a feast of similar tunage...

Tanita Tikaram - Twist in my Sobriety.

Had a bit of a thing for the sultry songstress, with her A level English lit style songs. (Gawd knows what the lyrics mean
I thought she was a right sort

Went to see her at Hammy O in the 80's with , that folk guitar hero,  Adrian Legg was support and was fab, check out the album 'Guitars and other Cathedrals'

Anyway Ms Tikaram hit the stage and was fuckin awful.
We stayed for 3 songs and fucked off the the Brittiana after she murdered' Twist in my Sobriety' , quite ironic as we ended up getting shit faced with Mr Legg who was also in the pub.
