Football Super league rumours yet again !!

Post ted fenton »

"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"

I think the only way round this is for the Premier league is to start applying a set player salary cap to make it a fair competition. I think the NFL already do this? These six clubs may moan this is unfair but so is a closed European league.

It puts FIFA and the FA in a very difficult position. Ban the clubs and lose all revenue associated with them or acquiesce and still keep part of the pie. Which is why they need to come down hard on them now. Call their bluff and throw them out. It'll be a boring and shit league and within two years they'll be begging to come back.

"My only concern is that they would have foreseen all the possible objections (players banned from the World Cup) and probably have pretty strong legal teams on the case. Still don’t see it happening though - PL clubs are idiots for getting involved in what is basically an attempt to bail out Barca, Real, Inter who are all financially fucked"

"Take out the so called big 6 and we’d still end up 2nd and never finish as champions!! Lick these 6 out, replace with the likes of forest, Wednesday, Millwall etc and get some proper matches going"

"Actually, if the games against the Snide six are null and void, that’ll help us. We’re basically champions already. Feels great!"

"cheesebgt 2:03 Mon Apr 19 Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !! No mate, they wont be allowed complete in the Premiershipship. they'll be fucked out. See Report below : Will clubs still be able to play in domestic competitions? The Super League clubs say that all participating clubs will continue to compete in their domestic leagues, ""preserving the traditional domestic match calendar which remains at the heart of the club game."" The clubs also say that they wish to implement the Super League project in agreement with FIFA and UEFA. UEFA, the Premier League and other top European leagues, however, said in a joint statement on Sunday that this would not be the case. They said: “As previously announced by FIFA and the six Federations, the clubs concerned will be banned from playing in any other competition at domestic, European or world level, and their players could be denied the opportunity to represent their national teams.”"

"I don't think the premier league have the bollocks to deduct points, or expel teams. they'll do anything to appease these parasitic cunts and keep the money coming in from foreign tv markets"

I take it this means West Ham has practically qualified for next seasons UEFA Champions League? We might even win it now!

Absolute cunts: they should be told they can no longer compete in the same league as the clubs they chose to leave in their wake and they can play each other over and over while the world loses interest in them.

"How do the players contracts work, as I thought they had to be ratified by the league they play in. could players walk out of the contracts if they are not allowed to play in the World cup or such?"

Has anybody actually asked what the criteria were in order to be invited to this “club”?

"The damage will be done through the money these clubs will be given. Imagine having a 3 thousand million transfer kitty? The only way to save something from what we currently have will be to Chuck these clubs out of the Premier immediately, and disqualify any player who plays in the super league from all other competitions"

"Steady 1:59 Mon Apr 19 Listening to phone ins it's surprising how many people have said that they would stop supporting Man U, for example, and find another club to follow. If it happens, it'll be entertaining to see Spurs finish bottom every year."
