Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"

"Debs Comes down to what you see as smaller teams Historically, many of those in the lower divisions have been there since inception, it is what they are, small provincial community clubs. Of course the contrary of the formerly large clubs down there have had some right poor business management Take a look at the PL now and recently and who are and have played in it - some right unfashionable and 'lesser' sides That aside, this whole concept has absolutely nothing to do with the PL, so is irrelevant"

"It should be on condition they're never allowed back to the domestic leagues. That's the choice they should be given, see how quick they shit themselves if that was a possible outcome. Of course that won't happen, as they want guarantees that the money will keep flowing no matter how crap they're playing and the tv companies will bend over backwards for the cunts"

"Crassus all you hear when smaller clubs are in the news is how that gap has widened but i take your point, still this is a really cynical move. Hope they are suitably dealt with."

"Debs The founding of the Premier League was about money, but as much about the FA making a pigs ear of everything they touched as it was taking as you see it, the lions share Facts are, there has always been a disparity of income and the PL negociated, earn and dissipate far more than the blazers ever could or would have"

"AnyOldIron 9.26. To be fair, it is my understanding That both West Ham and Everton were invited to join this group and refused to enter on principle. If that is the case then I expect the owners to stand up and voice their concerns about the form of the super league."

"It could be these clubs are threatening this as a bargaining chip with UEFA for better terms in the champions League. I hope their bluff gets called. Looking at the proposals, I think these owners completely misunderstand football. A league where most teams can't get relegated is an exhibition, not a true competition. I'm calling it now, next north London derby will be played in Shanghai"

TV Money backs this up. We the fans surely weird the power here. We simply boycott en-mass any channel prepared to televise the games. Eventually money will talk. In the meantime doc all the clubs 12 points each with immediate effect and move on!
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Yanks behind this driving the American sporting model Wasn't it Randy Lerner who bought Villa and then to his horror discovered the concept of relegation They just don't get the football 'thing', who is going to buy this product? And don't tell me that they don't need fans in the stadia either, one of the huge attractions of English football is the atmosphere. Moreover, who will want to play for these sides when they are expelled from the national comps It's just not going to happen, unfortunately. Would love to see them hoofed out and then watch the migration of players but just like Lerner, they will end up scratching their heads and fucking off back to Yank rounders"

The Premier league should sue the fuck.out of these clubs if this goes ahead. Surely this would be a massive breach of contract.

"When premier league was formed it created a massive gulf between the richest and poorest clubs. This is the next obvious step. The fans may want healthy competition but let's face it football club owners don't, if it involves any risk to their dominance."

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
Given that Leicester beat Man City does that mean if the 6 clubs are banished & all their results are EXPUNGED that we will be top of the Premier League tomorrow morning?
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
Announcement is meant to be 9.30 tonight - what’s the betting they bottle it given the reaction so far?? Is they’re contracted to this new league I hope the PL deduct them all points first thing tomorrow morning. About 20 points each should do it.

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
My understanding is the guy who is behind this owns DAZN sports. All games will be steamed on their probably pay per view.

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"This shit needs nipping in the bud, once and for all. If these arrogant owners want more and more money without earning it through sporting success, then the FA and the Premier League should simply throw them out; and not for just a season. Chuck them out for at least three years and tell them if they ever want to return then they'll have to start at the bottom. As others have said EUFA should announce that the Champs league will revert to the old knockout format and no more guranteed £tens of millions just because you've qualified. Take it back to its true sporting origins and to hell with the money. And by the way I don't give a fuck what Gary Neville says, he's just a former player. I want to hear some strong language from club owners who oppose this cynical power grab and who have enough influence to do something to stop it - starting with the cunts who own WHU."
