Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"This shit needs nipping in the bud, once and for all. If these arrogant owners want more and more money without earning it through sporting success, then the FA and the Premier League should simply throw them out; and not for just a season. Chuck them out for at least three years and tell them if they ever want to return then they'll have to start at the bottom. As others have said EUFA should announce that the Champs league will revert to the old knockout format and no more guranteed £tens of millions just because you've qualified. Take it back to its true sporting origins and to hell with the money. And by the way I don't give a fuck what Gary Neville says, he's just a former player. I want to hear some strong language from club owners who oppose this cynical power grab and who have enough influence to do something to stop it - starting with the cunts who own WHU."
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
So would this be a closed door league? No relegation from or promotion to? How would Arsenal qualify otherwise? These clubs would no longer be premier league or considered English but “European”? How would this impact the financial well being of clubs like west ham and Leicester who are “not invited”?

Maybe your business would survive if you stopped paying crazy wages and crazy transfer fees?

"A lot of these clubs really could not give a shit if fans never walked through their doors again. As long as there is a fat tv deal, they have their vast football stadium 'palaces' which make them look important and they are mixing with other billionaires to try and get one over on them. Its the only way Spurs and Arsenal can make themselves relevant."
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
Spurs fans association has condemned it which makes me want it to happen even more!
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
Let’s see what happens tonight when the super clubs make a announcement.. It be along the lines of . “ We need to do this. Because our business can’t survive the way it is at the moment. However. We are open to any ideas our Uefa partners have to continue our relationship. For a better future.”

What was Gary's view on the team he played for opting out of the FA cup? And it's impact in terms of devaluing the competition?
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
At the end of the day it’s fans and tv viewers (fans again) that will have the overriding say. Playing a European team weekly in a new ‘domestic’ league won’t have the same appeal as playing teams in your same country every week.
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
Haven’t heard what Chairman Nev has said. But don’t think this is about anything apart from self-preservation. If there was a breakaway. Who do you think will get the World wide tv rights. Because it won’t be sky.

"people say it's all about money, and you're half right, but the sort of dog fucking billionaire sociopaths who run these companies, it's also a philosophical crusade. seeing their iconic billion dollar franchises hamstrung by the archaic limitations of domestic sporting traditions will make their blood absolutely boil, it's an aberration to them that the concerns of native proles even comes into the thinking when it comes to their global coporate power struggle. they are no doubt aware of the response and will see all involved with risible contempt, like peasants questioning the will of the king."

"Man City are signed up. So this, as we stand, makes Leicester champions and us in 2nd place ?üòç?üòç?üòç?üòç?üòç?üòç"
