NFL (since 2016)
"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."
Re: NFL (since 2016)
Nutsin 12:13 Thu Apr 28 As someone who had both Deebo and Elijah Mitchell in his fantasy team that is exactly it. Very much doubt he will get so many run plays in the future. He does merit getting paid for what he can do as a WR though. One look at how much others have got indicates that. He is not Tyreek Hill elite but not far off.

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Word is that Deebo just wanted to get paid. He seems to have been using his versatility as a bargaining chip - trying to drive up his price - while also seeking some reassurances about not being used quite so much as an RB. Tough one, that. The 49ers won't want to lose a very fine player. But if he's trying to get effectively two salaries - WR and RB - while arguing not to be used so much as RB, then I can understand the 49ers' reticence. On his side of the argument, his workload was very high for a guy still on a rookie contract. He's basically the Martin Peters of the NFL! When it comes to it, though, I just think the 49ers should pay the guy. He's more important to them than some of them on very high salaries."
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Deebo was used as a RB last year so much because we had injuries at RB and our WB had an injured thumb and shoulder. With a healthy stable of RB's and a healthy QB who can throw the ball down field with no pain Deebo will be used more as a WR""¶. That's an easy fix and an easy convo to have between Kyle and Deebo""¶""¶. Not sure that is the problem for him to sign a new contract."

"That's interesting Miike, I've just been following paper and twitter articles, not seen too much footage. Gardner and increasingly Stingly have been mentioned a lot as possible first rounders for Seattle. For the QB, talk of Matt Corral and a couple of mentions of Howell if available in 2nd round, so good to see your positive rating. Unless Pete Carroll has a rush of blood and tries to trade up for Malik Willis or trades down ""¶ hard to predict."

"OGS, I've watched a lot of footage on numerous channels/sites and they mostly have you taking gardner or stingley. I think Sam Howell would be a great fit for you, if he's still there in the second. I watched a lot of him in the past two years and he has a great arm, and after losing most of his weapons last year added a scrambling side to his play which carroll would love"

Re: NFL (since 2016)
Hawks have a decent round one pick for a change: #9. So many ways to blow this. Guess if Sauce Gardner or similar is still on the board and we can fill some gaps with #40 and #41* we might just have a chance of not being the whipping boys of the NFC West as predicted this year. *QB might happen in round 2?

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"It's not all about money. He doesn't see a long career in the nfl being used on a regular basis as a running back. It's a world of difference being tackled by defensive backs, to colliding with 250lb linebackers or even bigger linemen game after game Not sure what Rivera's doing. He lets two of our DTs (ioaniddis & Settle) walk, and now there's talk he won't be extending a third (Payne) and could possibly trade him. Only we could have confined fuckwit mismanagement, year after year. He only has six picks this week, but you can be sure he'll find a way of fucking it up"

Re: NFL (since 2016)
We're still stuck with Jimmy G on our books taking a big chunk of our salary cap. Surely someone must want him?
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Deebo is still on his rookie contract, which means if he sits out then he loses a year of income but San Fran still keeps the year of contract, so it will roll over into the following year""¶.. Add to that the Franchise tag for 2 additional years you will realize that Deebo has no leverage. Now Deebo could feign injury but that would hurt his stock and cost him millions in his new contract""¶.. If the Niners decide to trade him he will be traded to whoever offers the best deal, Deebo has no leverage and therefor no say on where he goes. If Niners trade him it will be to an AFC team. Personally I think it's all about money and Deebo will get paid by the Niners. If he is traded it will happen before the first half of tomorrows first round draft."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Some talk of the Jets trading up to take their first pick, but I think it's all the usual pre-draft bullshit and bravado. They'll sit at #4 and #10 and take two of the dozen or so premium names - whoever is left on the board at that stage. Given how many positions we desperately need to fill, I can't see us trading up above #4 and giving picks away just to jump a place or two. The only trade I could envsage is if they feel they want to go after Deebo Samuel and get a decent ask from the 49ers. But I'm not expecting that. Samuel will get offers from sides in much better shape than us."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"BIG day tomorrow. Obviously, the West Ham semi-final sits above everything else. But it is also NFL Draft day, and the Jets have 4 of the first 38 picks. Given our draft history, it's all touch and go as to whether Joe Douglas and Rob Saleh make the right calls. If they do, it could be the start of a bright new era. If they fail (which, let's face it, is a high risk in Gotham), they'll be out the door in January 2023! Thankfully, I'll be half-pissed and too focused on West Ham to get too distracted."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"The big beneficiaries in the draft this year will be NFL sides who already have a good quality starting QB and are looking to put size and strength on their lines to protect QBs and pressure opponents. Looks, at first glance, like a 'big man' year - many potentially good DLs/edges and OLs. The downside to that is that the same elite-level QBs will thrive next season. Depth in protection just augments the quality passers already in the league."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"TM - yeah, at a glance, it looks like the draft is awash with solid defensive talent this year. Probably only a few stand-outs, but many others who are good quality Rnd 1s and 2s. I think sides will still be getting good defensive value in Rnd3 and even Rnd4 in some positions. Same with OLs. Some decent-looking receivers, too. Again, probably no immediate stand-outs. But depth. The only thing lacking this year is depth at QB. Couple of decent passers who could become NFL starters, but it won't be a great year."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"SB, the first five or so edge rushers in this draft are very good but Hutchinson & Thibodeaux are the stand outs. Looks like the jags will take Hutchinson, but Kayvon's a great pick too Regarding Samuel, and I don't know this for sure but the way Shanahan's used him (and I like Kyle) often as a running back, maybe he's worried about his longevity in the league? who knows, it may be more than just money"
Re: NFL (since 2016)
Can't blame Samuel for wanting to leave the perennial losers the 49ers. That and the fact he doesn't want to see Nick Scott again.

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Finally, the draft gods have worked in Rob Saleh's favour since he took over. He wanted to focus on offense last year, and landed Wilson, Carter and some very good young linemen in a draft slanted towards offense. This year, Jets have prioritised defense, and the draft looks like it favours big defensive prospects this time around. We desperately need an edge-rusher, a prime-time safety (useless since Adams left) and options at linebacker. Mind you, as our interest in Samuel shows, we still haven't got a primary receiver. In fact, our roster is still generally weak! Can we have 40 picks this year?"

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Jets likely sizing up Kayvon Thibodeaux, Oregon's DL/linebacker, as the #4 overall pick. A couple of months ago, this kid was the shoo-in #1 pick in the draft, but some strange media narrative about his commitment (which he hardly lacks when you see him play!) has seen him drop down prediction boards - largely because he only performed certain workouts at the combine. Reckon the Jets might pick up a man who, IF he does remain committed to the NFL, was the best player in college football last year. And we do need a pass-rusher. For the Sack Exchange, we habven't put much pressure on QBs for two seasons. People on here will know more than me about the draft this year - I haven't had the usual time to go through the main prospects: is there a good (rather than made-up pre-draft media column filler narrative) reason why Jets should be worried about Thibodeaux?"

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"TM - yep, going to be a lot of sides in for him. I generally don't like these players who hold their sides to ransom. But it's a shrewd move by Samuel - he knows the market for players like is big at the moment. Proven talent and with a lot of WR-needy sides out there. Jets will probably sniff around, and we have the picks to trade, but he'll get offers from better sides than us. My guess is that he wants a team that is an immediate super bowl contender (why else leave Frisco?). Could see Rodgers forcing the Packers to go for him. Or the Chiefs if they decide to replace Hill with a big name."
