It was ahead of them at that point But now we’re going backwards when they’re going forwards We made a huge profit in the summer And we’ve just made a further profit last month

Villa out performed us massively last season and surely then our net spend was much bigger than theirs as we hadn't sold Rice yet and made a profit this season..

"It doesn't look good ref Osman, and no doubt there will be some words going on behind the scenes, the caveat is that we 'may' have dodged a bullet. A 20 mil punt by the looks of it."

He was only Moyes's number one target as he thought it was Leon Osman coming out of retirement

"He was Moyes's number 1 target, we were told. And we've been beaten to him by Brighton."

"Brighton agreeing a deal for Osman literally underpins the transfer business of this club. An utter fucking shambles. Still he doesn't look that great statistically and they might have bought a complete dud, time will tell but for 19 million, definitely worth a punt."

"""We’re not competing financially with Aston Villa"" Well, we are really. Prior to last year, our 5 year net spend was more than Villa's. This year it's a bit less, but only because of the sale of Rice. Where we're not competing with Villa is on the pitch, which is the manager's fault, and obviously Sullivan's to blame for choosing him and sticking by him, but that has very little to do with money. As for not competing with the big boys, our 5 year net spend is still more than the current league leaders. It's not only about what you spend but how you spend it. Investing in the academy (which Sullivan thought was a waste of money initially) and buying players who can improve is how you make the best use of your financial resources, and Sullivan's been well behind the curve on that, although there have been signs of improvement in that area."

"Ok maybe crook was the wrong term But the point is, everything he does is for his own benefit, not West Ham’s And he’s entitled to do that The reason I despise the bloke though is because he pretends that he’s some great saviour and we should be grateful for him He has as much ambition as Terry Brown (another awful chairman) But at least Brown used to keep his mouth shut and didn’t pretend to be something he wasn’t Also it’s not a myth that Sullivan is tight It just depends how you look at it Compared to Brighton were big spenders But we’re not competing financially with Aston Villa The sale of Upton Park by Sullivan’s own mouth stated we’d be able to compete with the big boys Instead we’re being left behind by Villa"

I don’t get the myth that Sullivan doesn’t spend nor that it’s to line his own pockets. He does spend and we’re on record amounts too. Loads of it is wasted but that’s because Moyes has the final say contractually imo. Sullivan is so out of touch with his customers though and really should be stepping aside but there’s nothing we can do about it except stop spending on tickets and clothing…

"Yorkhammer has shown why football and indeed West Ham is fucked as money has brought this type of attitude to a Sports Club with history long before he was born......fair enough if were mainly his own money but it isn't is it.... ""He is the major shareholder so he does what he wants."""

Onsideman Maverick180 was implying that Sullivan was not spending cos he was somehow theiving it from under the clubs nose which he isnt... I appreciate when he sells he will make a pretty packet and that his spending is to ensure we are not relegated and thus impacting our value... I know all of that... but thanks for explaining it - really appreciate it ?ü§£

"According to C&H ( hopefully not too bladdered ) Here are West Ham‘s winter window financials of the various transfer deals. Outbound: Thilo Kehrer to Monaco on loan £428,000 loan fee with £9.41m option to buy. Pablo Fornals sold to Real Betis for £6.84m on a permanent basis. Said Benrahma to Lyon on loan for £5.1m loan fee plus £12.3m option to buy with 10% sell on clause. Total £12,358,000 plus £21,710,000 in options Inbound: Kalvin Phillips on loan with no option to buy. Payment to Manchester City includes full £3m in wages until the end of June plus £2m-£4m in performance bonus paid to both the player and the parent club based on certain outcomes. Total £3m with £2m-£4m in performance-based bonuses. Around £200,000 per week have been wiped off the West Ham wage bill after three departures in the January transfer window. Thilo Kehrer is reported to have earned £80,000 per week, Pablo Fornals was reported to have been on £65,000 per week while Said Benrahma was reported to be earning £55,000 per week. The reduction will help cover Kalvin Phillips £135,000 per week wages plus loan fee to Man City"

"One of the few times he actually had a bit of a spend up came in the next transfer window after he had the shit scared out of him at the Burnley game I’m not condoning trying to attack the bloke, but I feel it should be made loud and clear to him at games that he’s taking the piss"

"If he actually got some stick at games I think he’d either have to spend some money or he’d have enough of it and sell up But he doesn’t but he hides behind the lie of FFP despite the fact we had money left over from the sales of Scamacca and Vlasic Somehow claiming we had to sell before we could buy, but then continuing to sell players when he knew full well we wasn’t bringing anyone in If that’s not taking the piss I don’t know what is"

"""Sullivan gets away with being tight as we have a large fan base that doesn’t know the facts and defends him"" That's nonsense. He is the major shareholder so he does what he wants. The fan base has no say in the matter. The only impact the fan base can have on Sullivan is not buying tickets but that doesn't happen and every game is sold out."

This is the very reason why Sullivan gets away with being tight as we have a large fan base that doesn’t know the facts and defends him In the last 5 years for example Aston Villa who are club I would say is similar to ourselves but hasn’t sold their stadium under a promise of being able to financially compete with the big boys have a net spend of £110million more than us

I think you've been a bit hoodwinked BJB Sullivan will probably make half a billion from the sale at some point. He's not doing any of it for us. He spent last Jan because he there was a danger of relegation. He and Moyes have got super lucky with the form of Kudus

"If you take a look at our net spend rather than money spent since Sullivan took over you’ll see it’s actually pathetic, especially when compared to other premier league clubs in the same bracket as us"
