Yes and if you read through it those are not actual costs they are predictions based on low skilled workers earning half the uk average.
However, migrants earning the average UK wage actually generate a bigger surplus than people born here, mainly because they have not incurred costs for education or healthcare in childhood.Completely ignoring the fact that their dependents will incur cost of education & healthcare before the wage earners have contributed anything.
Low skilled migrants are net consumers of tax resources. That’s a fact. The numbers have grown massively, that’s also a fact.
Just the same as low skilled UK nationals then only theyll already have incurred health and education costs.
Next time you or members of your family are in hospital Id check the nurses, cleaners and orderlies to see if they were migrants and then refuse treatment on that basis. Also a large number of Drs and consultants. But you cherry pick them to suit your argument.
Good luck!

There’s 1.7m economically inactive migrants in this country that cost £20bn when you include healthcare & education.

3. Statistics Showing the Impact of Immigrants on the UK Economy and SocietyThe economic and societal impacts of immigration in the UK are significant.According to the Office for National Statistics, migrants contribute approximately £83 billion to the UK’s economic output annually.Research also shows that migrant workers play a crucial role in sectors like healthcare, STEM industries, and finance. For instance, as of 2020, 13.8% of the UK’s healthcare workforce were non-British nationals.Foreign-born nationals are also disproportionately likely to start businesses in the UK. A report by the Migration Policy Institute noted that migrants in the UK are about 7% more likely to start businesses than UK-born individuals. Finally, cultural festivals, culinary diversity, and artistic contributions by migrants have substantially enriched British cultural life, promoting greater understanding and cohesion among different communities.

I want the overwhelmingly majority of people living in the country to be culturally invested in it. While we can be accepting and welcoming to outsiders, if we want to be a nation and a people we need to be bound together. We need a sense of shared heritage and a cultural language which defines who we are and who we are not. We need the things that define us as a group to be sharply distinct so we can see that we belong to something, as a sense of belonging is something that every human craves.
Our asylum policy is just an open door, the consequence of which is a substantial weakening those ties that create unity and cohesion. There may well be some genuine asylum seekers but most are cynically abusing the good intention, aided by radical leftist NGOs. If you think generous asylum policies are no threat and only enrich their western host countries here are some statistics from Germany:
Non-Germans are ‘six times more likely to be the assailant than Germans.
In 2023, foreigners committed 41 percent of all violent crimes in Germany.
About two-thirds of suspects in gang crimes are non-German.
Since 2019, asylum seekers, mostly from Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq, have sexually assaulted more than 52,000 females.
In 2023, Germany saw 761 group rapes. Half the suspects were foreign nationals; others were of immigrant parentage.
In the state of Nordrhein Westfalen, almost three-quarters of group rapists are non-German or of immigrant parentage.’
So yes, I have a problem with asylum seekers. A big problem. Even if there was economic benefit - which there isn't!
Welcome Wils but frankly who asked you?
Im very sorry you feel that way sounds like Germany is in a right old state. Oh deary me!
Wasnt that why the UK left The European Union to close the borders? Hasnt completely worked yet but our PMs right on it!

I wouldn’t bother going down that road Wils son. Billy has realised that he’s completely tied himself in knots trying to pretend that immigration has no impact on his life, so now he’s moving the goalposts to specifically focus on illegal immigration.
The simple fact is that both impacts everyone whether they’ve noticed it or not.
housing crisis
NHS
Policing
schools
Etc etc etc
Billy can pretend all he wants, but it’s undeniable. That’s without even starting on cultural and social impact.

your reference point is a NI sweetener you’ve had for 6 months, which has now been thrown over to employers and you’ll pay for eventually through retail prices.
we’ve not even started on the impact to public services.Oh so now its not about asylum seekers its population growth in general that causes increased taxes. So why doesnt taxation rise every year again because the population rises every year but not just because of asylum seekers.
Public services are crap Ill grant you, but really are they crap because of asylum seekers?!
I think you just have a problem with asylum seekers lets face it!I’ve referenced population growth about ten times to you billy son - it’s part of immigration which you said has no impact on your life.
tell me how the population is growing, because it certainly isn’t through the birth rate.
You’re desperate to focus solely on asylum seekers in some last ditch attempt for a credible argument.
What Billy means is that the explosion in illegal immigration in the U K doesn’t affect him is because he lives in Poland.
The lack of comprehension and the lack of common sense gives it away. Billy is Pickle!

If I were my tax would have to go up each year at least but it doesnt. I think you are overthinking this. Its really simple.
If year on year Im not taxed more how can I feel like I have been. Its about perception. I personally do not feel like I am taxed more directly due to rising asylum seeker numbers especially when one of the taxes falls significantly. Just like I dont feel like Im taxed more because of the support we have given to Ukraine which is far greater. Well did you feel like you were taxed more last year and do you blame asylum seekers or the invasion of Ukraine by Putin?
And in a year when my tax does go up. I personally do not jump to the conclusion that it’sdue to aslyum seeker numbers rising, especially as the cost of asylum seekers is small when compared to defence or education or the NHS.

As pointed out to you, you don’t get an itemised tax contribution bill - but it only takes a small amount of common sense to see the two are intrinsically linked.

Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)
It's not purely just a case of taxes going up, it's what we're getting back for those taxes.
I'd wager BJB doesn't have kids, and where he lives he's mostly unaffected by what most of the country are having to deal with.

Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)
I don't know you but my general human decency honestly hopes you never have a castrophic event that knocks you out this fingers-in-your-ears, "all is good, I can perceive what I want to." Both in terms of your financial state and the original discussion on privacy - "I'm not ever going to be affected like those wrong'uns over there."
I hope that you would come to a better state of awareness with your own critical thinking.
However, that you reacted so intensely to someone initially questioning it and by not seeing the hypocrisy of railing against what Musk is doing but okay with what the government you support is, makes me a little pessimistic. Ie. If the bureaucrats and SIN holders in America "aren't doing anything wrong, what do they have to worry about." Right?

Why 5 years? The population has grown by 7m since 2000.
in that time my tax rate has increased (2010), my council tax has gone up massively, dividends tax has been introduced, capital gains went up, the main rate of NI contribution has been higher right up until April 2024.
that’s without talking about freezing the threshold for tax rates while wages have increased. And you can confidently attribute those rises to the increase in asylum seekers can you?It can be identified as an exponential growth in cost over the exact timeline that the population has grown.
